Pachyrhinosaurus

I voted for the Battat styracosaurus and pachyrhinosaurus, the Carnegie styracosaurus, Marx styracosaurus, and the Wild Safari diabloceratops, einiosaurus, nasutoceratops, regaliceratops, styracosaurus, and vagaceratops. The Wild Safari pachyrhinosaurus would have been number 11, but I wanted to include a Marx figure, and felt the pachyrhinosaurus, while still great, is the weakest of the Safari ceratopsids.

Picking ten was way too hard for me. Way too many good contenders here. Honestly we are pretty spoiled for choice these days for ceratopsian toys in general (or specifically ceratopsoids as what this poll is for).

I ultimately went with six BotM, even then it still wasn't enough for me lol. I did still vote for the two Mattel figures as I planned earlier, and unfortunately it only gave me room for 2 Safari Ltd figures. Granted it looks like they are doing fine anyways. Nearly everything I voted for I own (even if it is storage now). Only thing I'm still behind on is the Safari Ltd Diabloceratops (also the Pachyrhinosaurus and Vagaceratops, the rest I own).

-BotM Centrosaurus adult
-BotM Diabloceratops
-BotM Medusaceratops (specifically the FC one in mind, since I finally have that beauty in hand now, even if it is still sitting in the box atm)
-BotM Pachyrhinosaurus (standard one in mind, but the FC is nice too)
-BotM Styracosaurus (standard)
-BotM Zuniceratops
-Mattel JW Nasutoceratops
-Mattel JW Pentaceratops
-Safari Ltd Diabloceratops
-Safari Ltd Styracosaurus (2019)

Things that didn't make the cut, but I still really like:
Spoiler
-Battat Styracosaurus
-BotM Einiosaurus
-BotM Pentaceratops
-BotM Regaliceratops
-BotM Sinoceratops
-BotM Styracosaurus (Old Buck)
-BotM Torosaurus (either version, but I slightly prefer the vivid blue one)
-Haolonggood Nasutoceratops
-Papo Pentaceratops
-PNSO Sinoceratops (large)
-PNSO Styracosaurus
-PNSO Torosaurus (large)
-remaining Safari Ltd figures

With the exception of the BotM Pentaceratops and Regaliceratops, the rest are figures on my wishlist, minus the Battat Styracosaurus, as I don't feel like hunting it down and the Safari Ltd one is more then sufficient for me, and maybe the PNSO eventually too.

It's interesting that one feels the Pachyrhinosaurus is the weakest of the Safari ceratopsids.  Currently the poll seems to agree with that.  However, I think the weakest Safari ceratopsids are the Vagaceratops (not surprising since it was the first one) and the Regaliceratops (it's quite bland to me).

I voted for:
1. Battat Pachyrhinosaurus, I understand some people dislike its colouration, but I think it looks great!  Its sculpt is great too.
2. Battat Styracosaurus, still superb after all this time.
3. Beasts of the Mesozoic Chasmosaurus, my favourite of the BotM ceratopsian figures.
4. Beasts of the Mesozoic regular Styracosaurus, I don't like its colouration but the sculpt is excellent.
5. Favorite Pentaceratops, I would like a better and more detailed and colourful Pentaceratops, but until one is made, this is my favourite version of it, pun not intended.
6. PNSO Styracosaurus, I love this figure.
7. PNSO Torosaurus adult, it's very well done.
8. Safari Diabloceratops, I got this figure recently and it's very well done.
9. Safari Nasutoceratops, I got this recently too and it's a well-made figure, although I find it a bit less exciting then a number of other ceratopsid figures.
10. Safari Pachyrhinosaurus, I think it gets overlooked for some reason, it's a really good figure.  Maybe if it was re-released in 1:35 scale it would be more popular?

Pliosaurking

These are all figures I own
Picking 10 was pretty hard
But I voted for:
BOTM
Pentaceratops
Regaliceratops
Styracosaurus(standard version)
Chasmosaurus
Medusaceratops(fan's choice)

PNSO
Mini chasmosaurus

Safari
Regaliceratops
Styracosaurus
Nasutoceratops
Einiosaurus

These were my top picks but like I said I have many others that I'm quite fond of.
Some other figures I don't possess, would/will be on this list if/when I get them.

SidB

My voting was completely dominated by Wild Safari and PNSO picks, though I did go for the Papo Penta. I think that Doug Watson's offspring will do very well in this poll.

Jose S.M.

It's always curious to read which figures people like better, it gives an idea of how different our taste is. I find the Safari Regaliceratops to be one of their best together with Triceratops and Nasutoceratops. I love them all but those are my favorite and Vagaceratops is last but still very good.

Gwangi

Oh shoot, I don't see the Mattel Pachyrhinosaurus, I thought it was already in there. I like almost all of their ceratopsians but I think that one is still my favorite. All well, I don't need to vote for it. This is going to be a really tough vote for me anyway.

I think it's because of the lack of bulk compared to the Battat pachy. Dan gave his that extra bit of heft and it feels more believable as a large animal that way. I think the WS pachyrhinosaurus is still a great piece, though. It just has some stiff competition.

Funny thing, the vagaceratops is my favorite of the WS ceratopsids. I feel like the paintwork is better-executed than on some of the others, like the diabloceratops. It also came out before that color palette was as ubiquitous as it is now.

Oh - this is so difficult for me!  Not for nothing is my username "Ceratopsian".  Normally I try to vote on polls where I have an interest in the subject but here my interest is too great.  I've had a quick count and I think I own nearly 60 of the candidates.  (Though the Haolonggood Nasuto pair are still at the customs office and not with me quite yet.)  I'll sit tight and have a think for a few days....

I 'get it', even though I don't have quite the level of interest that you do, avatar_ceratopsian @ceratopsian . This has had to be the most difficult poll yet in which for me to make the choices that I made. I can hardly believe the ones that I left out, for example my iconic Battat Styracosaurus. It seemed a travesty to leave it out, but the sculpting quality has surely moved on - it couldn't crack the top ten. Unbelievable!

Sim

avatar_Gwangi @Gwangi, I've now added the Mattel Pachyrhinosaurus/Sinoceratops to the poll, it's the last option.  So you can vote for it if you'd like to, and you can change your vote if you've voted already!

Sim

I'm surprised the larger PNSO ceratopsids aren't doing better, I think they are as good as the Wild Safari versions.  It's nice to see the WS ceratopids doing well though, they are very good.  I wasn't expecting the Regaliceratops to do so well, I guess I don't like it because I don't like the species maybe?

I'm also surprised the PNSO and WS Styracosaurus aren't ranked higher, I thought Styracosaurus was the second most popular ceratopsid after Triceratops and the PNSO and WS Styracosaurus are splendid models of the animal.

I didn't vote for any of the CollectA figures because they are either old with eyes that are too big, or newer with the filaments.  The filaments of Psittacosaurus have been determined to be scales, not quills, and I find when CollectA puts them on their ceratopsids it just looks bizarre.  If CollectA would stop putting the filaments on their ceratopsids I think I would buy new ceratopsids from them as their sculpt otherwise has become very good.

Gwangi

I voted for...

Battat Pachyrhinosaurus
Battat Styracosaurus
Kaiyodo Diabloceratops
PNSO Centrosaurus
PNSO Sinoceratops (adult)
Wild Safari Einiosaurus
Wild Safari Nasutoceratops
Wild Safari Pachyrhinosaurus
Wild Safari Regaliceratops
Mattel Jurassic World Sinoceratops (Pachyrhinosaurus)

Paleo Flo

For me, the CollectA Styracosaurus is one of the best ceratopsian ever produced. So it got the vote.
The Wild Safari Diabloceratops was the start of my personal dinosaur renaissance. Unsurprisingly a clear vote.
I'm a fan of Doug Watsons work...so there a few wild Safari ones that git my voice.

I like the bulk of the Battat Pachyrhinosaurus, it does feel appropriate for a large animal.  I think the WS Pachyrhinosaurus still looks believable with the bulk it has though.

As for the WS Vagaceratops, I actually think it has the weakest paintjob out of Doug's Safari ceratopsids.  The markings on its frill are almost invisible because of how close they are in colour to the surrounding skin and the cheeks being a different colour I find odd.  It's still good though, I think.  I just think the more recent WS ceratopsids are an improvement.

SidB

I think that the 1/40 scale of the WS Pachyrhinosaurus is somewhat detrimental to  it, over against the 1/25-1/30 scale, more or less, of the other WS ceratopsians. Even as a 1/35, it's relative size would have been showcased more effectively.

Gwangi

I had to vote for both the Battat and Safari Pachyrhinosaurus. I like the bulk of Battat's but I prefer the detail work and paintjob on Safari's. It's a favorite ceratopsian of mine, clearly, I voted for 3 of them.  O:-)

ceratopsian

#77
In the end I managed to cast my votes - though a different day might give a different result.  Here's what I came up with, in no particular order.

1. Beasts of the Mesozoic Chasmosaurus
2. Beasts of the Mesozoic Einiosaurus
3. Beasts of the Mesozoic Pentaceratops
4. Beasts of the Mesozoic Sinoceratops Medusaceratops
5. Beasts of the Mesozoic Utahceratops
6. Haolonggood Nasutoceratops
7. Kaiyodo mini Diabloceratops
8. PNSO large Styracosaurus
9. PNSO large Torosaurus (adult)
10. Wild Safari Nasutoceratops

I think that my choices are strongly skewed towards new arrivals, which disadvantages Doug's Safari models. I should have been more proactive when the poll was updated, as the Fans' Choice BotM Medusaceratops ranks high amongst my favourites. I also have a hugely soft spot for the old PNSO baby Sinoceratops. My choices were based on what are my favourite models, and not on what I deem to be the most accurate. I could easily have chosen 20 or more as my favourites. For instance, my list excludes all the CollectA models. But I'm exceedingly fond of the Melbourne Museum version of their Triceratops. It also excludes the Battat Styracosaurus, which is a firm favourite - but I just ran out of votes. On reflection, my list is probably skewed by the fact that many of my BotM models live in my sitting room, right in my line of sight in the evenings!

Faelrin

avatar_ceratopsian @ceratopsian The BotM Medusaceratops represents both the Fan's Choice and original versions in the poll, since they share the same sculpt. See avatar_Sim @Sim 's post here. So if you would like to re-do your vote to include it, you can just click remove your vote, and vote again.

That was one of the BotM figures I ended up picking, because I got the FC version recently, and my goodness is it wonderful, especially having it out of the box now, and holding it in hand. The iridescence is excecuted so well. Just wish I had my Microraptor on hand, because it would make a nice iridescent buddy for it (despite the scale disparity). Definitely in my top three favorites of the BotM ceratopsians for sure. I also share your sentiments on liking lots of ceratopsian figures. We are so lucky there are so many good options out there for them (and why it was so hard to choose just ten).

Skorpio V.

The Doug Watson Domination on this poll wow.

Battat's Pachyrhinosaurus is sooo underrated!! I would only say that its head is pretty wide, but its bauplan and frill are so perfect.

I never really liked PNSO's Centrosaurus,I always found its cheeks too low and far forward. Their other ceratopsoids blow it out of the water for me sculpt-wise even though I like its paint job the best out of all of them. Giving it a second look it's not as bad as I remember actually, but I still find its lead against all the other sculpts from there surprising lol
