HAOLONGGOOD - New For 2023

Two questions: 1) Are we sure that model has anything to do with Haolonggood? 2) What was the source of the rumor that they would be making a megaraptoran? There doesn't seem to be any concrete indication of that so far.

Said teaser only states that theropods are on the pipeline. No indication of it being a megaraptorid.

The models look great other than the lack of lips. I wonder why and what caused this choice V @vampiredesign?

Man those pics of the Allosaurus and Apatosaurus are incredible. The angles really helps show how massive Apatosaurus was. The blue Allosaurus paid the price.

A bit of a shame the Allosaurus lacks lips, and has some mild shrinkwrapping on the skull (behind the eyes). Based on a clear look of the skull here it really does look to be based on A. jimmadseni. Still rest of it looks really nice for what we can see here.

Edit: Something I am wondering though, does it have the large claw on the first digit? Hard to tell here.

Although lipless it still looks better than some of PNSO's recent offerings. The teeth look well rooted inside the mouth, not as if they're sliding out of their sockets and rooted OUTSIDE of the mouth. I see no signs of PNSO's mouth rot. Looking forward to clearer pictures.

And yes, I really hope that thumb claw is there! Other than that it really does look great, even for the little shrinkwrapping we can see. The blue version on the ground reminds me a little of the GR Toys x Haolonggood Carcharodontosaurus!

I wonder if it will have nasal passages in the mouth like PNSO's does... I would be a little dismayed if it didn't...

I am definitely a fan of both, and I am considering buying both and sending them off to get lips added but no repaint. These color pallets already look great!

Both look great, but man that blue one is easily the winner here for me. It's actually quite a bit different from what I previously thought it resembled, and in a good way as it is a rather fresh take on it. Despite some of the minor shortcomings, I'm looking forward to picking this one up, but it might have to wait until next year, or post Cyberzoic kickstarter in October.

My preference is the blue one, I love the lightning strikes on it, but I'll probably order both. It is my favorite dinosaur after all..

As for the lips, the initial design was to have lips, but the teeth and chin couldn't be achieved at all. They were too thin, and you'll know how small these teeth are when you get the actual product. The final product is optimized and requires a lot of effort because it is too small.

I wonder if PNSO have any clarifications to this too as I believe their larger models can achieve this but not their smaller models.

I know the artist who modify therapod models to have lips take quite a bit of their time to sculpt them.

Another image of the blue version. I think this will be my choice as well, those colours would really stand out on a shelf.

The thumb claw looks present, though the middle one looks slightly larger?

I just realised that all the photos of these guys are with their jaws open - waiting for one with their mouths closed, just to see what they'd look like!

Seeing it compared with the Apatosaurus, and how small it was in comparison to it, that does make sense that the teeth and chin would have been rather fragile to work with at that size, particularly if there is an articulated jaw, and/or if sculpted by hand, so I can understand lips needing to be omitted as a compromise for production's sake with all those potential factors. I mean I'm guessing these will be around the size of the Ouranosaurus, which is a smaller figure (but still packed with detail), using Dino Scream's review of the Apatosaurus as a guide to get an idea on the size.

Edit: Yeah just saw a more direct size comparison between the Allosaurus and Apatosaurus posted on their instagram, and I was kind of right with my initial guess work.

I think what's throwing me off is the lack of a prominent jugal which, unless it's jimmadseni, should have more of a dip. Without it, it's kinda giving abelisaur. I LOOOVE the postcranial anatomy!! That neck from the top view is just

I'm glad others are excited for these two but for me it's a pass for the time being. Between this and the dilo teases, I think I'm more partial to HALONGGOOD's work on herbivores. Course it all balances out with PNSO being so therapod focused at the moment.
