Indeed. The Cyberzoic colours are certainly unique, but Ugueto just has an eye for naturalism, especially in his colour palattes.

Well, the Cyberzoic Deinonychus's colouration is more realistic than the Beasts of the Mesozoic Dilong's   I have to say I would probably still get a 1:18 BotM Dilong though, my almost entirely paintless Safari toob Dilong isn't satisfying unfortunately.

Same here. Personally I think these miniscule 1:18 theropods could cut down on a bit of articulation as well. Mostly omitting secondary limb articulation given how thin and fragile these joints are.

I still think the Dilong would have worked with more yellows and the red restricted to the legs and underside rather than along the flanks and the neck. It separates the bright colours into more segments which draws more attention to the contrast than on golden pheasants. A 1:18 version would be nice, maybe it could even be based on a yellow morph golden pheasant which might feel more naturalistic.

I guess, yeah.  Hadn't seen that before.  I think the Cyberzoic figure with the same red and blue trim colours but jet black instead of brown base colour would look really good...at least for a male.  The female could be plain brown overall.

Exactly. The necks/heads can't do more than look side to side a bit. mid-body is basically useless as it only moves a millimeter or so, especially on the larger figures. The tails are stiff they don't really have to move much. Just make them bendy near the tip as is.   I REALLY wanted to do kicking and leaping poses but it's just not possible. Many of mine are in neutral stances for display.

Kind of surprised no one has mentioned this yet. David shared a recent in-hand image of the painted up BotM A. fragilis,  Dilophosaurus, and Smilodon. Based on the color design, I was originally pretty sure the fragilis figure would be the way to go for me but this might turn out to be another close call now that I've seen both of them painted up.

As for the Dilophosaurus, I backed the Cyberzoic version but this is one case where I very likely will have to get both. That blue crest is just too gorgeous!

Speaking of BotM, I bit the bullet and pre-ordered the BotM Utahraptor. Couldn't resist it any longer after seeing it all posed up.

I like the BotM Dilophosaurus, but it will be too big for me.  The largest BotM figures I have at the moment are the Eotyrannus and Guanlong.  I hesitate to get a bigger figure as they might be too big for me.  I'm currently undecided on getting the BotM Utahraptor, as I have the excellent Safari 2023 version which is big already and the BotM version will be bigger still.  Although at this moment I'm leaning towards yes for the BotM Utahraptor since it is so good and I love dromaeosaurids.  I definitely won't get any Creative Beast figure bigger than the Utahraptor though.  I hope David will do some more 1:18 small dromaeosaurids soon!

@Sim The BotM Dilophosaurus is actually a tad smaller than the Utahraptor (14,5 inches vs 15).

@Sim Can confirm what @Concavenator said, as I saw the prototypes in person last year. Both the Utahraptor and Achillobator are not only longer slightly, but also bulkier (including the wings) then the Dilophosaurus.

Teased last week, here's the amazing new package art for the upcoming Beasts of the Mesozoic Dilophosaurus wetherilli, done by Gabriel Ugueto! Expect more info on the action figure in the weeks to come.

New dragon sculpt wip (April 26 at 10:41):

In case you missed our live stream from last night, I shared the first in-progress images for my Cyberzoic Bristle Dragon sculpt! Hand-sculpted in castilene clay, this was originally meant to be part of the first Cyberzoic Kickstarter as Helina's steed, but didn't make it in for various reasons. No release date is planned yet, but I can't wait to add this to the Gaea 2 wildlife roster!

New test shots! I've just received the very first photos from the factory showing the brand new test shot figures for Arctic Dragon, Dilophosaurus, Smilodon and Deinonychus. Plus, test shots for both versions of Allosaurus are expected to be finished next week, which means I'll have them all in-hand soon!

New in-package images today for the Beasts of the Mesozoic Utahraptor and Achillobator figures! This will be the first BotM box packaging to not sport a 'series' logo- from here on out it's all just Beasts of the Mesozoic! I should also note that the BotM logo will be added to the upper window on the final versions. Shout out once again to Steve Melick for is help with the package designs, with art by Gabriel Ugueto and Brennan Stokkermans.

BotM V2 Chasmosaurus and Zuniceratops repaint concept art (April 9):

Today we have a look at two upcoming color versions of the Zuniceratops (albino) and Chasmosaurus b. (brown mantella frog). Prototype painting will be begin soon for these and I'm hoping to put them out by the end of this year!

BotM Achillobator paint sample progress (April 3):

Thanks for the info on the BotM Dilophosaurus's size @Concavenator and @Faelrin!  I guess the Utahraptor's rectrices makes it longer than the Dilophosaurus.  The BotM Dilophosaurus will still be too big for me, I don't want a Dilophosaurus that's that big.  I'm glad it will exist though, it's great for those who want it!

@Sim Yeah I definitely want both of them, but it is totally valid to not want it because of your reasons. Heck there's a lot of things I do truly like but don't end up getting because of space and/or money.

Who is the mysterious Dryptosaurus rider from the 'World of Cyberzoic' illustration?
'The Fire Clan gladiator known as Sykron, is a master of melee combat and animal taming, holding the title of Grand Master longer than any combatant in Fire Clan history. But he'd eventually meet his match in the Tech Clan deserter, Helina (a.k.a. Dragolina). The two would form a bond of respect and companionship, creating a rivalry that would become legendary among the Fire Clan spectators, boosting them both to celebrity status. But on the brink of war with the Tech Clan, how will this 'warrior savage' factor into the fate of his clan, and will his loyalty affect his relationship with Helina?'
Skyron was one of the characters planned for the Cyberzoic Kickstarter offering, but didn't quite make the final cut. But he'll be prominent in the first issue of the upcoming comic book, and an action figure, along with a custom black Gladius Prime armor, is planned for him, tentatively to be added to wave C, next Fall!

BotM Triceratops babies (March 27):

Another BotM Ceratopsian babies reveal today, this time for the Triceratops horridus, sculpted by Ross Persichetti! This will again utilize the existing ceratopsian baby body type. No release date for this one just yet, but expect to see more on these little ones soon!

Info about BotM Achillobator and Utahraptor delay (March 13):

An update on the upcoming Beasts of the Mesozoic wave (a.ka. large raptors wave). We're looking to have the Utahraptor and Achillobator paint samples done any day now and the package designs are currently in progress. That being said, we're about a month off schedule so I don't think we're going to be able to hit our target of a late April release, unfortunately. We're aiming now for late May/ early June, but I do want to assure you that all is going well, just slower than expected. In the meantime, I have these catalog shots to share today. (Apologies for the superimposed images- I forgot to shoot the prototypes again before sending them to the factory!)

Allosaurus fine cut (March 12):

An update on the new CZ/ BotM Allosaurus fine cut figure- we've been working to make further improvements to the articulation before we tool this one. These new improvements include: wider jaw gape, disc hinged wrists (not enough room for articulated fingers), an additional neck joint, swivel-disc feet, and modular display stand. We're definitely looking to make this our best theropod yet! 

Cyberzoic Kickstarter exclusive package art (March :

We have a very special 'first look' for this Cyberzoic Friday. Behold the finished package art for the Sabre Tooth Tiger set by illustration legend, Ezra Tucker! As many of you know, this Kickstarter exclusive pays homage to the Dino Riders Ice Age Sabre Tooth Tiger set by Tyco, in 1989 (minus the caveman). What an honor it has been to work with Ezra to this point and see him return to sci-fi armored wildlife!

Joefest 2024 (March 6):

I'm super excited to announce that the Creative Beast Studio crew will exhibiting at JoeFest 2024, in Augusta, GA June 21-23! It's shaping up to be a an amazing show with a lot of great indie toy companies, influencers, and vendors. So come check it out if you can!

New update with the Arctic Dragon test shot pics. I've only waited since 2016 or 2017 (I think) for this moment, back when I saw the big kit on the lit up ice block at JerseyFest all those years ago after the first raptor series kickstarter. Truly cannot wait to get this guy in hand someday. Speaking of the sculpt, I love its adorable toe beans. I don't think I noticed that detail before. Kind of makes sense to have though.

On this Cybrzoic Friday, I have something truly special to share. For the first time as a poseble action figure, I give you the Arctic Dragon, Kuraokami! For those who know the history of this design, you'll likely understand what an achievement it is to finally see this in plastic form. And check out that neck movement, and also that tail! This being the first test shot, I'm still finding some room for improvement, but man, this is nonetheless impressive! Thank you again to everyone who helped make this happen.
