Quote from: BlueKrono on August 07, 2024, 08:07:00 PMJust got notice that the elephants line debuts on 9/3 and will include the woolly mammoth, Gomphotherium, Platybelodon and Moeritherium. I'm in for 2 and possibly 3 of these.

Moeritherium & Platybelodon :o :o :o :o , been begging Eofauna to make one for many years now. Certainly didn't expect David to be the one to deliver! (not complaining either)

Quote from: David96 on August 07, 2024, 09:10:39 PMThere goes the hopes of seeing a Columbian/Steppe Mammoth and one of the Palaeoloxodon's  :(

That's just what's been officially announced so far. You don't think he'll make a line of only four figures, do you?

I hope that you are right, or at worst to see them in Prehistoric Elephants Wave 2 :/

avatar_BlueKrono @BlueKrono Thanks for passing the news onto us!

Proboscideans are not a group I'm particularly interested in, but Moeritherium in particular I find interesting! It's even tempting me to back it... Curious to see it.

Faelrin

So I wonder if there's potential for more as stretch goals? While this isn't David's campaign, and his studio is just creating the figures for it, there was always a batch of initial figures to pick from at launch, and more as stretch goals.

Regardless I'm super stoked for the mammoth and baby already, but seeing the others is mighty tempting. All of them are excellent choices, but as far as I know, Moeritherium has no (toy or plastic) figures and absolutely needs one.

Really do hope there will be more via stretch goals, and things like Deinotheirum and the American Mastodon can make the cut. Phiomia would be fun to see too. I adore them in Ark, and they really don't have any plastic figures out there currently.

Figured this would be better to make as a seperate post, instead of an edit, just in case folks saw my above post already. Wouldn't want them to miss this.

Anyways sorry I'm a bit behind on adding these pics, but here's the painted up baby mammoth prototype. Here's what David said about this:

QuoteHere's our first look at the painted prototype for the Eons 1/18th scale Wooly Mammoth calf! And you'll want to check out ALL of these photos for hint of what's to come. 😉
Want to know more about our prehistoric elephants colab with Eons? See the comments for more info!

Coloration appears to be based on Lyuba and/or Yuka (if not any other preserved baby mammoths out there). I've seen that some folks on instagram think it is a bit too red though? Not sure. What do you folks think? I did see David said in a comment that he will be dialing back on the red and black on it.

Here's a list of woolly mammoth specimens on wikipedia for what it is worth (though note not all articles have images of them):

Every time I've seen real mammoth fur I've been struck by how reddish it is. I know mammoths came in other colors, but I think these are spot on.

Quote from: Giganotosaurus on August 08, 2024, 05:05:43 AMWait, David isn't heading this project?
I believe he's pretty much in charge of the sculpts and production as usual, but species wise I believe that was up to Eons (company?) and David as of course David needs to oversee whether they're capable of articulation or just do-able in general.

Halichoeres

I'd been thinking that with the pivot to Cyberzoic, there would be no more Creative Beast series focused on taxonomic groups. I'm very happy to be proven wrong! First Moeritherium since Starlux.

I am way behind on updating you folks with images. I am sorry. I think I've come down with covid again, but prior it's been my usual fatigue, depression, etc.

I'll start with today's update:

QuoteANNOUNCEMENT: As many of you suspected, the Eons Prehistoric Elephants project is more than just Woolly Mammoths. The first stretch goal species will be Gomphotherium angustidens! Design drawing by Ross Persichetti. Come back tomorrow for a look at the sculpt! See the comments for more project info.

Previous update (3 days ago) was the painted woolly mammoth adult prototype:

QuoteUnleashing the Wooly Mammoth! Here's your exciting first-look at the painted 1/18th scale Wooly Mammoth action figure prototype! Sculpted by Jun Huang, Articulation by Ross Persichetti, and paintwork by yours truly.
The Eons Prehistoric Elephants BackerKit campaign begins on Tuesday, Sept. 3rd- be sure to follow the project at the link in the comments!

Posted 6 days ago was the sculpt for the woolly mammoth adult prototype:

QuoteWooly Mammoth first look! Last week I shared a small teaser for the painted 1/18th scale painted adult Wooly Mammoth prototype that we've developed for Eons. But before I show it off in full color, I wanted to take a step back so we could admire the amazing sculpt work done here by Jun Huang, as can only bee properly seen prior to the paint work.
More to come soon, and as always, see the comments for the link to follow this project!

Lastly here's this posted on August 8th:

QuoteYou've seen the baby, now check out the color render for the big daddy Wooly Mammoth!

Edit: Did a massive update for the op as well. Hope it is a bit more cleaner and concise.

Dilopho

Thanks for the update Faelrin, and don't worry, we all appreciate anything you can share with us ^^

Wow, Gompotheres now?
This is really exciting, I'll be particularly interested if there is figures for Deinotherium and Platybelodon, my two favourite prehistoric elephants. I didn't realise there would be goals for anything other than the twso mammoths!

Flaffy

I'm a sucker for proboscideans. While I can (probably) resist the Woolly Mammoth, the Gomphothere will be much more challenging to not pick up... Especially since it's specified as G. angustidens, as I have the CollectA one representing G. steinheimense in my collection. Helps that being a smaller species, the figure in turn will be easier on the wallet as well.

Very happy we now potentially have 3 species of Gomphotherium represented in figure form!

Faelrin

Platybelodon is confirmed, as is Moeritherium. No idea if Deinotherium will make the cut (such as a stretch goal), but hopefully!

From the Backerkit launch party page:

QuoteScientifically accurate, articulated models of the Wooly Mammoth, Gompotherium, Moeritherium and Platybelodon, created by the minds at Creative Beast Studio along with EONS!

I do perfer dinosaurs to mammals but I'm definitely going to grab something from the kickstarter. Platybelodon and gompotherium are 2 species I am especially interested in. That mammoth is beautiful looking!

Faelrin

Gomphotherium sculpt has been revealed. The hype train is real.

QuoteFollowing our announcement of the upcoming Eons Gomphotherium action figure (stretch goal), we have the first photos of the unpainted prototype! Brilliantly sculpted by Max Bellomio with articulation by Ross Persichetti.

Carnoking

Ugh, I told myself only the mammoth but dang if that Gompotherium isn't nice.

BlueKrono

The anatomy looks great. My only nitpick would be that the skin texture looks tenuously light. I wonder if it will still hold that level of detail in the final casts that backers receive.

Flaffy

Gomphotherium angustidens painted! Good size and not too big. I'm assuming it'll share the body sculpt with Platybelodon?

Dilopho

It looks very beautiful  ^-^
That's a nice colour scheme, it's funny to see how....normal? It looks in comparison to the more outlandish colour schemes in the Creative Beast repertoire.
