CapsuleQ set releasing in July with confirmed IDs from Kaiyodo:

Dakotaraptor
Ornithomimus
Triceratops
Tyrannosaurus in two colors, but I think it's the same sculpt

I wasn't interested in the dromaeosaurid prior, but now that it's revealed to be Dakotaraptor I probably should get it. I'm guessing it's still probably too small to fit into 1/35 displays but gotta take what one can get when this is the second figure of this animal out there currently.

Definitely interested in the Ornithomimus for the dinos. It may come as little surprised, but I am definitely gonna grab the recently extinct creatures that Kaiyodo are doing. This is why I love Kaiyodo, they are actually willing to do what other companies won't.

Definitely interested in the Ornithomimus. I believe this is the first proper figure of the genus? All previous ones I remember are either old or ugly.
As for the Dakotapraptor, I'll wait and see David's version before deciding. Interesting to see Kaiyodo finally give primaries to their dromaeosaurs.
Nice to see Kaiyodo do formation based sets, intentional or not.

Also, has anyone counted how many Tyrannosaurus Kaiyodo made made by now? O:-)

I posted this a few years ago in the Kaiyodo - new for 2020 thread...

Okay, I was already bored when I mentioned I'd do this if I got bored in the last post...

Others can fill in any I missed and/or offer proper names for sets... Not going near skeletons, skulls, or anything beyond Gashapon size since I don't collect them...
Maybe there were ones in the bottle cap set and/or Jurassic Park set which I also never collected?

Dinotales series 1
Dinotales series 1 secret white variant
Dinotales series 1.2 variant
Jurassic Park Tour boxed set variant

Dinotales series 3 secret classic construction x3

Dinotales series 5, two versions rearing
Dinotales series 7, two versions running, smaller than expected

first CQM set regular, feathered, and feathered variant
CQM fighting triceratops (and I've never quite understood but I think there's some smaller Mini Q version?)
2 variants from CQM set with the therizinosaurus

feathered version in 2016 Dino Expo set with the yi-qi
Sue--large, small
Study Room resin
There was one from a Wonder Fest.
the 2019 Dino Expo one in question plus the bronze version
the pending one--which would be 26 if right about the mini Q

Might not have gotten them all but when you see this number and consider how long ago the first was issued, it's not so extreme and certainly very understandable that such a massively popular subject would take such precedence from a business perspective. Perhaps without some of these pulling in money from children and more generic collectors we wouldn't have had some of our favorite rarities made...

The Ornithomimus and Dakotaraptor have my attention. Anyone knows where to buy these? I have never bought any Kaiyodo figure, I'm asking out of curiosity.

avatar_Flaffy @Flaffy What version of Dakotaraptor by David are you talking about? Do you mean BotM? Has he mentioned he will be making a Dakotaraptor? If you're talking about Cyberzoic, he will be releasing an Utahraptor and an Achillobator, no Dakotaraptor there.

I'm betting on the very high likelihood that he'll make the most out of that 1/18 large raptor mould. ;)
(heck, maybe even a collaboration with Saurian's infamous design? David's worked with RJ quite a few times now.)

avatar_brettnj @brettnj Thank you for the extensive list! If there's anyone who'd know the number of [x species] made by Kaiyodo, it'd be you!
And wow, I knew Kaiyodo had a thing for Tyrannosaurus, but this is getting ridiculous. 23 regular gashapon figures and not even counting the bones & special one-offs. :o

That was my exact thought! The only Dakotaraptor I have is the  huge articulated one from the Dinosaurs in the Wild exhibition in the UK (wasn't able to see it, but Darren Naish had one for me when I went to TetZoo).

I have over 20 pre-orders for this set already, mostly from members here.

Please PM if interested in knowing how my source in Japan and I work.

Thanks.

Awesome. Thanks for posting.

These are stunning.

One thing that I almost never see discussed is the evolution of the quality of figures by the same manufacturer over time. These are, to my eye, among, if not the, most beautiful of all Dinotales and certainly the megatherium and sea cow are the most elaborately rendered.

Looking back at early series, by comparison you could see that the line is being treated with more respect than originally, addressing them more artistically and scientifically. While the sculpture quality was always good, the paint on early figures especially was often amateurish, garish, and toylike.

These though, look like they could be displayed in a museum setting.

Also very happy to see this set especially due to the chosen subjects and after such a long wait, and with this great leap in evolution (Everyone see what I did??) I'm already looking forward to the next.

Oh, man, these look fantastic. Love that Thylacosmilus especially. Thanks for the photos, avatar_Flaffy @Flaffy!

Check out my customs thread!

avatar_brettnj @brettnj I very much agree with you. These are beautiful and look like some of the best they've done so far.

Does anyone know of an online store that carries these? They are quite excellent looking, but unfindable.

Our very own avatar_brettnj @brettnj can help you with that, along with sourcing countless inaccessible Japanese figures from Japan.
He's been providing this service for a very long time, and is very reliable. avatar_Thialfi @Thialfi

I'm confident I'm the best source outside Japan for these sets or anything else from that country.

Here are the flyer images for both...

Can anyone make out anything about the three images (that look a bit like magazine covers) on the left of the mammal flyer? I wonder if they indicate anything about future releases?

Thanks.
