I agree that the best was saved for last!  Although I dislike the wounds on the mammal.  The Nanuqsaurus looks excellent, I intend to get it, which I wasn't expecting!  The Placerias looks excellent too!  It's not an animal I'd like to have, but I'm happy for those who wanted one.  I wonder if CollectA will release a Postosuchus in 2025?

I really like these three.  :) I'll probably get the placerias and the other two depending on the price. I would love to get the diprotodon because my only diprotodons by now are these (and they are very good, indeed!)  :))

Faelrin

avatar_Duna @Duna I forgot those existed. Man I need to get those sets up on DTC someday. Didn't you have a thread with information on them, or was that someone else?

The best reveals!
I hope with diprotodon release they will made thylacoleo, megalania, quinkana or wonabi.

Really loving these last three, although I'm not sure I need another Diprotodon in addition to the Southlands Replicas version.

I've seen different Diprotodon renditions but CollectA's rendition is not appealing to me. I feel the proportions are off.  Would like to see how far it is accurate in terms of the overall sculpt.

Splonkadumpocus

That wound had better be a hint at a Thylacoleo for 2025. In the meantime, Collecta does make a thylacine.

Next year's dinos feels weak compared to 2023 not gonna lie. I'm only interested in the Dreadnoughtus, the other three look rather crude by comparison.

Glad to see Diprotodon getting a figure by a major company, particularly since it'll be more accessible to the general public compared to smaller niche companies. That being said, quite happy with my Southland Replicas one; better size, sculpt, anatomy and paint. The more interesting part of the figure is the potential for Thylacoleo to join the CollectA collection ;)

Placerias is easily the standout of the entire 2024 roster. It feels like an improvement in every way over the already fantastic Lisowicia. Here's to hoping for a Postosuchus for 2025!

Faelrin

avatar_Flaffy @Flaffy I literally just commented I wanted Postosuchus on the everything dinosaur instagram post of the Placerias lol. We really need an up to date bipedal one already. I mean they made a Smok to go with the Lisowicia after all.

With the reveal of the CollectA 2024 Placerias, this Nayab(?) version can finally rest. It's been a good long run!

i'm pretty excited about Collecta's releases next year.  A Polacanthus, Placerias and Diprotodon.........awesome.  I may repaint the Placerias as I feel the colour Collecta gave it is a bit drab and too similar to Diprotodon.  Collecta sure is big on brown for 2024.  Not only the 3 I've listed but Nanuq as well and probably others.

Can't wait til they're all released.

by the by......for those comparing the Southlands vs Collecta Diprotodon.  The Southalnds is a female and the Collecta a male.  There was a big size difference between the two sexes in Diprotodon.  I know most here don't care much about consistency of scale, but for those that do, the two figures are really not compatible size-wise.

Really? Thanks for pointing that out. Didn't know that there was sexual dimorphism in Diprotodon. If I may ask? How did you figure it out?

Overall an interesting lineup, even if a couple are misses. No aquatics or Palezoic animals, but we got both last year, so I can live with the brief Cenozoic getting a turn. I'm most excited for the Placerias. It looks like the 2017 marine mini box, with lots of original designs, was an anomaly. Not for me, but for folks who are less willing than I am to forfeit half a room to sauropods, I can see the appeal!

I didn't figure it out, I just read up on the critter.   IIRC there are two distinctly different sizes of remains known,  with one about 20% larger than the other.  Both are adult animals, and the general consensus is that they represent male/female size dimorphism, rather than 2 separate populations or species, as once thought.  I just took what I read as gospel.  Southland's model represents a female, complete with pouch.

I'm not impressed by it nor the other titanosaurs that have been released by Collecta and other companies. I'm sure it's correct, but I don't like the body/neck ratio with this, Ruyangosaurus, the PNSO Alamosaurus, and so on. A miniscule body with a gigantic neck looks weird to me.

Faelrin

S @shahinos I find it funny you mention that, as that actually is the case with Quetzalcoatlus, an in almost extreme manner. Not so sure about the sauropods though, with the exception of Alamosaurus. It does seem to have body porportions like that judging from the various skeletals out there.
