Collecta has been improving themselves throughout 2011 - 2012, but suddenly stopped.
Most of the newer releases aren't of much better quality than for example the Geoworld figures. They still tend to look goofy and the paintjobs are getting worse.
I'm sure they will be surpassed by Mojö soon.

A lot of CollectA's extant animal are still of much better quality. Other designers? If yes, they should let those give their Dinosaurs a try ;).

I agree. Although I'm glad we're not getting figures like this anymore....

CollectA makes great extant animals, but their dinosaurs..not so much.

I hope Mojo releases some dinosaurs and blows CollectA out of the water ;D

I just realised something about the CollectA Ichty too. I believe that there is some kind of external support and they airbrushed it out of the photo

Its centre of balance is off. Otherwise, how the heck is this thing standing? I can't look at this picture without expecting it to fall forward on its arms.

CollectA has come a long way from those first figures..which I didn't buy any of.   I'd say they are currently at least a little better than the Geoworld figures overall ( Geoworld has a few rare examples that are as good to me ) ..there is one artist CollectA uses I like..the fellow who did the Argentinosaurus and a couple others..I wish they used him for all of them.

Mojo..I still haven't seen a dinosaur by them I wanted to pick up so I think it's jumping the gun a bit still to place them above CollectA...at least for me.

If their new mammals are anything to go by, they could be a company to keep an eye on in future. Also, Mojo have shown themselves to be quite collector orientated, for example they used clip on tags which were very collector friendly.

Their Griffon Vulture was stunning

I think many of Mojo's animals were sculpted by Ana, from the ATF boards. She's good.

Blade-of-the-Moon

Good point.

That Vulture is quite nice..if they can produce a feathered dinosaur as well as that then they are on par or a bit better than CollectA.

It doesn't look that bad to me. The Australovenator has almost the exact same pose going on and it stands just fine. Or at least mine does.

It's going to have a base so either way it should stand fine I think.. lol

That is a good point. But the Austra has flat feet. This Ichty is standing on the tips of its feet, almost on tip toes. That's what bothers me. There's also the extra added weight of the plastic fish sculpted onto the head.

But I'm not too fussed, because I don't want this figure anyway :)

Geoworld is a Italian company that produces a lot of prehistoric products.

here are the threads that discuss them

They claim to have authentic Prehistoric models, but many fall short of that claim.

here is the thread for my Geoworld Collection.

Your Troodon is so beautiful!

Concavenator

I suggested CollectA a Deluxe Allosaurus and a Deluxe Balaur   :)
You guys could thank me if they're released sometime lol  ;D

Gwangi

I don't think CollectA has regressed so much to put them behind Geoworld yet. Though few of their figures they released this year caught my eye what they have planned for next year looks good to me...so far. As for Geoworld, I seriously can only think of three that interest me.

amargasaurus cazaui

My own view is the Geoworld dinosaurs are "caricatures" in a large sense of the world and that makes them somewhat unique. I think the execution of the figures is intended to be amusing. When I view the various psittacosaurs altogether the Geoworlds piece comes off the last accurate and actually seems to be designed to be inaccurate in the most key things...ie. body shape, teeth, etc.
Compared to the collect-A piece....which was a bit more realistic and well sculpted, it would be hard to say the Geoworlds piece was even intended to be realistic which is why I felt they were meant to be caricatures
Authors with varying competence have suggested dinosaurs disappeared because of meteorites...God's will, raids by little green hunters in flying saucers, lack of standing room in Noah's Ark, and palaeoweltschmerz—Glenn Jepsen

Splonkadumpocus

CollectA has regularly introduced Cenozoic animals into their Deluxe line for the last few years (Kelenken, Megacerops, Deinotherium), and I'm really interested to see what this year's model is going to be. Assuming they continue the tradition, of course.

Actually, what would be a really good idea is if CollectA would do a Horse Evolution series, similar to Bullyland's Evolution of Man. Since CollectA is widely known for both prehistoric animals and model horses, it would make sense to combine their biggest talents for such a project. Plus, there's no shortage of fossil horses to draw on.

Hynerpeton

Walking With Monsers:
[about Lystrosaurus] Astonishingly, their vast herds make up more than half of all life on Earth. Never again will a single species do so well.

Walking With Monsters: (Hynerpeton) To avoid injury the males demonstrate their strength  in a strange  push up contest.

Concavenator

I hope that we will be getting a preview of species to be release by CollectA next year.Like the last two years. It would be a gift lol  :))

Well they've already showed some of them..just waiting on the rest you know. :)

Spinosaurus Aegyptiacus

Crazy excited for the 2014 Collecta theropods. When exactly will they become available here in the States?
