Hello all! It's time to bring this thread back. The initial enthusiasm was very good and we had two great rearing Ceratopsian sketches. It's time to choose a new subject. This could be anything;

A specific Dino like Yi Qi.

Sitting sauropods (as was suggested)

Speculative anatomy (for a group of Dinos)

Or just something you're curious about or want to draw.

So, comment what you think the topic should be, if you agree with someone who has already commented then voice your support and we will have our next topic! Remember, ALL topic specific art is welcome!

I'm game for any of the topics suggested so far, but now I'm craving something cute. Hatchlings please!  ^-^

How about pterosaur hatchlings? There aren't many drawings of those.

Marine spinosaurs and/or sleeping pterosaurs are my suggestions.

A lot of great topics have been suggested, however, the only idea to be repeated is: "hatchlings"

maybe focus on dinosaur hatchlings?????

So! For this round, hatchlings it is. Let's include all extinct egg-laying reptile-like critters (this would exclude marine live-birth reptiles, as well as extinct birds like dodos or toothed modern-like birds)

Feel free to suggest rules or guidelines on how topics are selected for future rounds. Round 2 is officially open!

Well, it's not exactly a hatchling, but here's a drawing of a juvenile tyrannosaur I've been working on for awhile!

Kayakasaurus

I did this quite a while ago, it's definitely a caricature, but it's still a hatchling. I'll be working on something more realistic.

That baby sauropod...it is preposterously cute.  ;D

I shall be posting mine as soon as I get the chance to. I want to slap a little color on it before posting  :)

A hatchling  Spinosaurus...that'll be hard to draw  ;) Seriously,Spinosaurus' new appearance is almost impossible for me to tackle.I'm hoping the little one will work.

I'm currently attempting a baby Spinosaurus - let's see if I get anywhere!

Rough sketch - touch-ups and color to come

Mamasaurus

Here is the initial sketch for some sleepy ornithomimus hatchlings, because ornithomimids don't get enough love.  I couldn't stop here, so more color is coming soon.  :)

These are great! Can't wait to see what else comes out of this.

why do they look like chickens? is it because they are really feathered because i thought they were scaly

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe there is direct evidence for feathers in at least one ornithomimid species. Deinocheirus is a giant ornithomimid known to have at least some feathers, and probably completely covered in proto feather fluff.  :) considering that plus ornithomimids relation to birds, it would not be far fetched to imagine hatchlings looking very similar to bird hatchlings.  That said, I used emu chicks as reference, then changed the proportions based on Scott Hartman's lovely skeletal of ornithomimus.
