So were we saying six DINOSAURS or six figures..cause some of these guesses are not dinosaurs right?
You have a point. This year's release was entirely dinosaurs, after all. But I think whoever is running the fb page is probably more of a marketing person than a scientist, so I interpreted it liberally.

EDIT: Also, Hi profnik, and welcome to the forum!

Well, Doug Watson stated that he finished working on the 2017 assortment awhile back, and given that he wasn't permitted to do any prehistoric mammals until just recently (due to the demise of the Carnegie Collection), I wouldn't hold my breath for anything with fur in the next two years.

aww that makes me sad. :( At least Collecta and Mojo ares still making prehistoric-mammals.

I'm sorry here that about carnegie collection was reired So i heard that too but I finally completed the Carnegie collection at home but I'm waiting for 6 wild safari prehistoric world replica but I saw it on Facebook last week but that was good news.

Well, let's think about this: assuming we're right about there being 6 new dinosaurs, then based on prior experience, I'm betting at least two of them will most likely be something that's been described in no more than 5 years or so ago. In addition, since Doug apparently has his figures planned out for about 2 years ahead at a time, I'm guessing we won't be seeing anything described less than 2 years ago.

As for the other 4, I'm guessing at least one will not technically be a "dinosaur", though not a prehistoric mammal either. Most likely a sea creature, though possibly a pterosaur or crocodylian. Since interesting ceratopsians seem to be all the rage these days, if neither of the 2 more recently described dinosaurs are ceratopsians, then we can probably expect to see an older but lesser known one. As for the final two, speculate wildly!!!

unfortunately, Mojo seem to be uninterested to follow up their recent four prehistoric mammals. i hope im wrong. would love to see a glyptodont or a wooly rhino from them.

I'm actually hoping that there isn't a ceratopsian in the 2016 assortment. Nothing against ceratopsians, it's just that we've gotten one every year since 2012. A stegosaur instead would be sweet. Or an ankylosaurid.

Although I would be delighted with a new Triceratops to replace the outdated one.

I don't know... a Doug Watson Wendiceratops would be pretty nice. It's a good looking ceratopsian.
In the end it was not guns or bombs that defeated the aliens, but that humblest of all God's creatures... the Tyrannosaurus rex.

Halichoeres

I wouldn't mind seeing that Wendiceratops for 2017 or 2018. Probably came out a little late to be included in this year's lineup.

The yearly ceratopsian is the cherry on top of every year's lineup. Doug's sculpts are so wonderful, and there is still so much ceratopsian diversity yet to be explored that I eagerly await the announcement of what he'll be doing next.

Huh. Might not be a coincidence, since Knight's painting was based on a real skull ("Monoclonius sphenoceras") which I can't find pictures of and I'm not sure if it was ever given a thorough description. Maybe a relative or synonym of Regaliceratops...?

EDIT: Nevermind, looks like M. sphenoceras skull is just the snout and nose horns, not eye horns. Knight must have based those on some other specimen. http://www.paleofile.com/Dinosaurs/Ornithopods/Monoclonius.asp
