Okay, so here is an update on some of the figures that I mentioned I have some problems with, mostly in the paint department.
First up is the woolly rhino. I just painted over the gray that was overwhelming the nose/snout area and painted over the black nostrils as well.
It did help, for my personal taste, make the nostrils look more blended, but to me it still looks too puffy ;D

And After:
[]

Next up is the Citipati.
For this one, as you see, I completely took the brown out as much as possible. I was really not that keen on that dominant color. To me it just looked so plain, like it was unpainted since you can see the whole body pretty much have that undercoat of paint color. I also pulled the blue from the wing and added that color both on the tail and head. Personally, I like some unity in the colors ( and I love colors as you can see on my sculpts ;D). I also added yellow to complement the blue and add some splash of color to the wing and the neck area.
More importantly, I tried to subdue that black dot that is the nostrils. It really keeps on throwing me off looking like the creature have 4 eyes! :)

[]
And After:
[]

This is how bad the paint app on my figure
[]

Here he is with my newly acquired velociraptor  :))
[]

Next up, Styracosaurs. I just changed the colors of the spikes to a gray tone. I like this figure's colors and design overall.
Before:
[]
After
[]

Lastly, I finally got the triceratops a while back, got it at Michaels for 50% off ;D
I'm really not fond of the bland colors and the few colors that is not brown looks so contrasting and badly painted. I originally put it away, but when a second opportunity to get another one with 60% off, I got another one and repainted it. Now a have a pair of them to gang up on Mr. T ^-^ This pair will be a male and female

Before:
[]
After:
[]

There you go ^-^ As I have mentioned, this was done solely as a personal taste, others may prefer and love the original colors.
Cheers! :)

Jose S.M.

Nice. I'm thinking of changing the spikes on the styracosaurus too, they are too similar to the body for me. I like that you added more blue to the Citipati.

Shonisaurus

Bokisaurus I congratulate you for the new look of Safari dinosaurs those details of painting are very favorable. You have a great mastery to repaint these figures.

Nice repaints, and it is pretty cool to see the Citipati with the Velociraptor, even if they are not in the same scale. I really need to get around to getting that one now.

Okay, after a very long (4 weeks) wait, I finally got the first batch of the new PNSO mini figures! :)) It was worth the wait, but it was a looooonnnng one!
First, the figures are really beautiful and nicely sculpted, by far much better quality than the last groups.
As you all know, I am very fond of ceratopsians so I have to get all of the new ones  :))
[]
Yeah, those names are hilarious! I guess they are targeting kids, so it makes since, it adds a level of "Cuteness" to the whole package ^-^
So lets start, shall we? I will start of with my favorites.... The ceratopsians!

Duke the Spinops - Really awesome little figure! This is my favorite of the group. Amazing details for such a small figure, much better than the last batch of ceratopsians. No I only wish it was bigger :D
I used this one to also show the diorama background that came with each figures to give you an idea.
[]

Brown the Chasmosaurus - another little gem and the only one with a different color. Lovely frill color design.
[]

Alger the Pachyrhinosaurus - Tis one is cute and have a naughty personality ;D
[]

Ripley the Xenoceratops - Great little figure, but the weakest in my opinion.
[]

No, this absolutely adorable little sleeping Maomao the Mei -So cute! It's curled up in sleep, with it's eyes closed. I just wish they added more colors to the tail. definitely one of my favorite.
[]

Now, we take a look at the ocean and river inhabitants :D

Finch the Atopodentatus - The first figure from all the major brand of this truly odd looking creature. I love it! My favorite of the swimmers :)
[]

Paulwin the Dakosaurus - Unusual take on this species
[]

Jason the Ectenosaurus - Nice species choice. Despite the size, there are a lot of nice skin details on this figure.
[]

Ricky the Keichousaurus - A nice figure of this most common little animal in the fossil trade.
[]

This one is from the older release, but I just now just got it.
Kel the Glyphoderma - An absolutely adorable little thing ;D Check out those details on the back!
[]

The last of the new mini is this one. Aishawarya the Indosuchus. Well, this is by far the weakest figure of all the new mini that I got. Still a nice one, but there is a sad look and feel to this little guy :(
[]

BONUS: The mini ceratopsians are just slightly smaller than the new shrunken  CollectA figures. They do go nicely together.
[]

Well I hope you all enjoyed these group of mini figures. They are truly beautiful and lots of interesting species. Worth getting and waiting for sure.
In time, I am hoping I can get the rest of the new figures.Cheers!

Minmiminime

Fantastic photos, really shows these figures off! 😊 Good comparison with those CollectA models too. Congratulations on these beautiful new acquisitions!

ceratopsian

Excellent photos as always. Poor Indosuchus!  He looks like an abandoned child. I agree with all your assessments.

Shonisaurus

I agree Boki with almost all your valuations in relation to the ceraptosidos whose figures are impressively good the figure of weaker ceratopsido of the group is for me the pachyrhinosaurus although it is also a great figure. I really like the xenoceratops that for you is the weak figure of the group but for me it seems very detailed.

With regard to marine prehistoric animals are all beautiful miniatures and the same mei long. All your valuations on those dinosaurs coincide with you one hundred percent.

The indosuchus I totally agree with all your valuations is the weakest figure in the group and is a rare theropod figure that could PNSO have ostensibly improved.

On the other hand I congratulate you for new acquisitions to your magnificent Bokisaurus collection and I am waiting for the 24 news of PNSO for a week, seeing that you had to wait a whopping four weeks surely I still have to wait a long period of time.

I'm so confused. Are those minis really big or are the CollectAs really small?  ??? :o

btw, Boki, your repainting skills have improved dramatically over the years  :)

Collecta's einiosaurus and regaliceratops are quite small compared to other standard ceraptosides made by the same company, but the finish of both figures is as good and even better than their ceraptoside counterparts of the same brand.

Halichoeres

That Spinops does look really good. I think it's just a bit small for my collection, but I'm tempted regardless. Thanks for all the great photos!

Great to know. For some reason, I thought the Regaliceratops was somewhat larger.

Thanks, I have been painting but mostly my own sculpt nowadays, but it's great to do some repaint now and then.

Yeah, CollectA, for some reason, has decided that moving forward ( at least from what I heard), they will be sculpting their ceratopsians in a much smaller scale/size that the previous ones. These two are the first of the resized standards.

Bokisaurus

Well, it is exciting to finally, after months of waiting and following the entire production process of it from start to finish, I finally just received the Southland replica Diprotodon!
And wow, it is truly an amazing figure with excellent details and immaculate paint job!
Yeah, the seams is visible, but they have placed it in the part of the body that can easily be obscured, and the paint helped hide it.
[]

It's interesting that the plastic material is light colored and almost have this translucent quality and look to it.
I am really impressed with the attention to details that Southland put into this figure ( and all of their new figure). Here, you can see the inside of the mouth with the individual teeth sculpted. More impressive is the discoloration that you can see. All the figure have pure white colors, like they all just got back from the dentist! ;D But this one is more realistic, and the clean paint application is just amazing for an area that is difficult to paint.
[]

And here he is with his eternal nemesis, also from Southland Replica. What a stunning pair!
[]
I have more photos of these guys together, as well as the thylacine that I was going to use for a review, but someone beat me to it. Maybe one day I will share it here, there are some really cool outdoor shots :D

Bonus:
I also took advantage and got their other new figures.
I am sooooooo impressed with this new Perentie! It looks so real! The details are so exquisites!
[]

Then this one, the impressive large eagle: Wedgetail Eagle and snake prey! Another stunning figure. It was hard to photograph it, it looks 100% better than in this photo.
[]

I also got this male Emu. Unfortunately, his beak broke during transit, but I managed to glue it back.
[]

Lastly, I also got his Dingo that I have been wanting for a while. It's not one of their new ones. I really like this figure, so much expression to it.
[]

And here they are all together
[

Well, hope you like it and impressed with it as much as I have. It really is awesome to have a new prehistoric mammal that is not an elephant, a rhino, or a smilodon ;D
I hope that this will be a huge success and that Southland Replica will continue to produce other prehistoric Australian megafauna!
Thanks for looking, Cheers!
[]
PS- I think this figure is closer in scale with Owen ^-^

Faelrin

Wow I didn't realize the Diprotodon was finally finished, and then being for sale already. What an amazing figure, and I really dig the color scheme they gave it. It looks excellent with the Thylacoleo too. And the rest of the assortment looks good too. They are definitely filling a niche that had yet to be filled.

Edit: Forgive me if I missed this, but what is the base from in the pics of the PNSO aquatic creature minis?

Shonisaurus

I agree with your views on the diprotodon of Soutlands Replicas is a surprisingly pretty figure. It is good that a company like Soutlands Replicas makes figures of a megafauna virtually unknown in the toy market or PVC figures such as thylacoleo and diprotodon. I congratulate you on your purchases of Australian prehistoric wildlife from Soutlands Replicas

The only thing that I observe as worrying on the part of the Diprotodon of Soutlands Replicas is that it is a too rigid figure. I am afraid that it will fall off one of my shelves and break. I will be careful in my case.

Hey, those bases are small reef base that I made as accessories for the marine reptiles and prehistoric fishes that I sculpted :))
If you are curious or want to see more of them, before and after painting, you can check out the photos in my sculpting thread in the art section. I thinks it's on page 4. You can see how I used them in my displays.
Cheers, and t hanks for looking. ;)
