avatar_PhilSauria @PhilSauria, have you thought about submitting reviews to the Animal Toy Blog?

And do submit another one to the DTB; it's been too long! :)

Wow that Plesiosaurus display is turning out great. I'm really glad I was able to help you get both of these, and just in time for the holiday too. And congrats on the new acquisitions. It's really interesting to see how similar all those Macrauchenia figures are as well (even if two might be the same sculpt?).

NEW STUFF

Don't add many older / retired figures these days but thanks to Lanthanotus I was able to get hold of these two and not only did he help me purchase them but he hand-delivered them last month on his trip around Australia! Got to meet another Forum member face to face. I looked around for the Bullyland Deinotherium after buying the Eofauna version meant that I had three out of the four large versions of this animal available, and the other Elephant was listed so why not add that as well.

And here's the big four all together.

The ancient Elephants now fill a shelf so just as well I don't have any more on my wants list (for the moment).

I'm always surprised to see any new Mattels outside of the dozen or so that retailers continue to re-stock so I was really surprised to find this new release.

Really overshadows the tiny Battat version, the only other figure of this species that I own

And so after years of looking at listings of the Vitae Giganotosaurus and not being able to afford one, regularly at $120-140 AU plus shipping, I went ahead and ordered the more affordable 'discount edition'. The paint scheme looks a little better than it did in the sole image on the listing and doesn't annoy me as much as I thought but I will be breaking out the paints to make the head, feet and spikes match the original. Does not come with a base and while it stands okay, for now, I will be making one 'cause it wouldn't be the first large therapod figure to eventually take a nose-dive. Still has the peg holes in its feet so if I can find some dowl or something to fit I'll incorporate that into the base. The back has the same sprinkling of blue glitter as the PNSO Mosasaurus, an odd choice on the behalf of whoever signed off on the paint app.

SidB

I'll look forward to seeing what you accomplish with your new discount Giga (it would be great if you posted your future repaint). Inspiration is always welcome. Congrats on the Bullyland acquisitions. I still remember the excitement that I felt years ago, when I got them as they were re-issued. It would be neat if the revived Bullyland were to get back into the Cenozoic prehistoric mammal business again, but I'm not holding my breath.

Shonisaurus

avatar_PhilSauria @PhilSauria I congratulate you on the Bullyland deinotherium I also remember with great joy when I bought that figure in 1998, what I tell you to be careful with his painting is subject to abrasions if the figure is touched with contact with other figures. His painting is very delicate as with his mastodonsaurus for another example. That is one of Bullyland's flaws. Magnificent figure Bullyland deinotherium but his figure is very vulnerable to accidental abrasions. In my life I dropped the Bullyland deinotherium but nevertheless it is full of abrasions for the reason I told you.

Mattel cryolophosaurus leaves the other versions of the same species in shame size, such as Battat.

Finally, the Vitae giganotosaurus in its current version, after the misfortune of the disappearance of the brand, it looks great.

I'm glad for you that you enjoy your new figures.

Halichoeres

Always fun to meet a forum member in person! And to get these fine figures into the bargain, so much the better!

Congratulations for your new acquisitions, Philsauria!
The Vitae official "knockoff" Giga has a worst made color scheme than its original version, but it's still a great figure considering the lower price, especially if the intention of who buys the figure is repaint it.

Bigger than a camarasaurus,
and with a bite more stronger that the T-Rex bite,
Ticamasaurus is certainly the king of the Jurassic period.

With Balaur feet, dromaeosaurus bite, microraptor wings, and a terrible poison, the Deinoraptor Dromaeonychus is a lethal enemy for the most ferocious hybrid too.

NEW ARRIVALS

Two months and half a dozen payments later and along comes another package from Mini Zoo, a couple of Papo figures. Been meaning to get that Moose for a while, now it joins the extant animals, but I was not disappointed on finally taking posession of the Spinosaurus!

This figure has its detractors but I'm not one of them, I really like this sculpt and now consider it one of the top figures in my collection. Mind you that's a long list.

The detail as always with Papo is impressive and I am so relieved that they went for a very naturalistic pose on this one.

I'll be making a custom base from these elements (some assembly required, as they say). I had planned to make the fish to swim along under the massive predator as it kicks off from the river bed, but saw a cheapie on Ali Express that was about the right size.

Had a tip-off that another new Mattel had made it to these shores and sure enough Kmart had this one on the shelf, and soon in my hands. The big Croc is meant to be around as well but nowhere to be seen on the day. Not crazy about the over-sized feet but I like a lot of the other features, like the dorsal spines, kinda reminding me of The Beast from 20000 Fathoms.

Shonisaurus

PhilSauria my congratulations on your new acquisition of Papo spinosaurus is for me one of the jewels of the toy dinosaur paleoarte. It's been almost three months and I'm still looking at Papo's spinosaurus limited version with the same emotion as the first day I acquired it.

Your Mattel theropod is also very beautiful.

Killekor

Congratulations for your new acquisitions Philsauria!
The Spinosaurus is a beauty, and it's one of the top figures of my collection too. I find it to be simply exceptional!

I can't wait to see you finish that base for the Spinosaurus. Do you also have a link to where you got that fish (assuming they still sell anymore)?

DIY UPDATE

Being at home now with time (and sanitiser) on my hands I have finished the base for the Spinosaurus. It is curiously not quite what I had in my minds eye when I first had the idea but also it's turned out better than I thought it would. Always keep a supply of actual stones (for rocks) and cheap aquarium plants around to dress these things up with and the Sawfish (Onchopristis) was another cheapie from Ali Express.
Here's the base, sans Spinosaurus

And now as it is being displayed on the shelf, with the Spinosaurus kicking off from the sandy bottom of the river or estuary while the fish is gettin' outa there!

Next base will be for the Discount Version of the Vitae Giganotosaurus.

SidB

I can just feel the stir in the water as the big fellow pushes off. Sawfish knows when to fold and leave town. I like your use of the wire - I don't find that it draws my eyes to itself.

Shonisaurus

avatar_PhilSauria @PhilSauria I congratulate you, you have made a magnificent base for Papo's spinosaurus, by the way, where did you buy that onchopristis?

ceratopsian

I think your base has worked out excellently.  The sandy surface has real movement.

Lanthanotus

Very nice work, Phil,... great enhancement for that figure.

Faelrin

That base really did turn out amazing and really helps add to that figure's pose and realism as well.

That's a very nice scene you've put together there. The figure's angle makes it look much more natural than it does on its own in the knuckle-pushup position.

Good job on the base! I'm working on a base for my figure as well, let's see how it turns out😃
