Amazing that it nearly fits on it. I missed out on Dino-Riders growing up, and while I haven't gotten around to picking any of them up yet, they definitely have their charm, so it's cool to see a tribute done to one of the more iconic dinosaur toy lines from back in the day.

avatar_stargatedalek @stargatedalek What about the Bite N Fight and Thrash and Throw? Close enough to be in scale with this upcoming Triceratops?

I never cared much for this series, because admittedly I'm a bit biased when it comes to action figures, not a fan at all. But I'm definitely a fan of David Silva's sculpting style, would love to have the money to grab a bunch of his kits, so I might just jump on board with these articulated figures. Gonna try to track down a Velociraptor mongoliensis from the previous campaign, and then I'll prepare myself for when these ceratopsians will come out. I'm only interested in four species - Triceratops, Pentaceratops, Pachyrhinosaurus and Styracosaurus - so I'll see what they'll end up looking like. At the moment I really like the Pachyrhinosaurus prototype, can't wait to see the other three.

I have a few second hand Dino Riders but sadly I've never had any armor. Keep your wits about you and you'll get lucky at second hand stores someday, they're not overly rare, especially the smaller dinosaurs and pterosaurs.

I've yet to see one in person, but if they're a similar size to the Roarivore Triceratops than definitely not in scale. As Suspy predicted earlier, the original Kenner Triceratops might be in a similar size range. Mattel human figures are in 1:25 scale but most of the main series herbivores got scaled down, so ironically this one would be in scale and the new JP one wouldn't be.

Nor does the JP size chart give much leeway here, as it says 35 feet, compared to 30 feet estimated for the largest real life specimen.

avatar_LeapingLaelaps @LeapingLaelapsRather, I would say that the centrosaurus looks outstanding, very difficult to overcome by another brand, Beasts of the Mesozoic is surpassing itself in the performance of an unusual figure.

That's a particularly attractive scheme. I have opted to purchase only one other ceratopsian in addition to the Spiclypeus; it'll be hard to decide which one!

The scientific sinoceratops on the part of Beasts of the Mesozoic will be much better from the paleoartistic point than the figures of sinoceratops based on the JW film, I am totally convinced without having yet visualized the finished prototype.

avatar_stargatedalek @stargatedalek There's always ebay too, I guess. Might be a long time before I get around to any of those though. Still have to get around to getting some Kenner figures one of these days too, and of course the ever growing list of new things.

I have the Bite N Fight rex, and it is much bigger then the Roarivores Triceratops. I'll get some measurements of it tomorrow (imperial and metric), but pretty sure it is nearly a foot tall and close to two feet long. Definitely bigger then the Legacy rex. Close to the size of the Spinosaurus. To quote my review on it (here: http://dinotoyblog.com/2018/11/30/spinosaurus-extreme-chompingjurassic-world-legacy-collection-by-mattel/), it was "10 inches/25cm tall at the tip of the sail and 21 inches/53cm in length".  There's an image there of the Spinosaurus with the Roarivores Triceratops, etc which might help as well in the meantime.

And 3 and 3/4 quarter scale is actually 1/25 scale? Huh this whole time I thought it was 1/18th. But yeah looking back at that size chart on the last page, it said 4 inch figures were 1/18th, and Mattel's humans for the Jurassic are obviously a bit shorter then that. Guess that would put it out of scale with possibly any of the Mattel Jurassic stuff like I thought it would be (though I guess there are probably some exceptions), well of the stuff that is actually in scale with the humans, going off their film sizes anyways. There was a really good size chart here too (that used sizes from ILM) of every film species: https://imgur.com/a/I1FPeaM (exceptions being Brachiosaurus, and Mamenchisaurus, and adult Dilophosaurus from their post on reddit sharing it).

Anyways I am really digging the Sinoceratops coloration here. Going to be so hard for me to only pick out a few of these in the future. They look so gorgeous in the concept art, no doubt they'll be pretty amazing sculpted and painted up too.

Edit: The Bite N Fight rex is about 21 inches (53 cm) long by 9 inches (23 cm) tall.

The Monoclonius is coming along nicely!

Wow! I really like how it's turning out.
Just a question about it: it's sculpt is the same of the Centrosaurus, although smaller?

Nice concept art. I think that Sinoceratops was inevitable after the JWFK movie, and I really like the color scheme Mr. Silva chosen for it.

Bigger than a camarasaurus,
and with a bite more stronger that the T-Rex bite,
Ticamasaurus is certainly the king of the Jurassic period.

With Balaur feet, dromaeosaurus bite, microraptor wings, and a terrible poison, the Deinoraptor Dromaeonychus is a lethal enemy for the most ferocious hybrid too.

avatar_Killekor @Killekor here's a comparison of the Centrosaurus and Monoclonius head sculpts. The Monoclonius is smaller with a slightly shorter and less curved nasal horn, the eyebrow horns are shorter and less pronounced, and the forward curving spines on the frill are shorter.

Shonisaurus

I made a huge mistake in confusing the monoclonius with the centroaurus of Beasts of the Mesozoic, I thought it was a somewhat small centrosaurus. I will sincerely collect the monoclonius instead of the centrosaurus in the future. Thanks for the LeapingLaelaps photos.

Killekor

Thanks for the answer and the photo LeapingLaelaps!
Now I'm a bit undecided about what I have to do. My favorite Ceratopsian is the Monoclonius, which, apart of being of the right size, it has also an amazing paint scheme. But, unfortunately, that figure it's the KS exclusive, and if I don't get it during the KS campaign I'll almost certainly don't have the opportunity to find it in an European store at a decent price. But it's also real that if I get it in the KS I'll have to pay both an enormous shipping fee plus the customs fee, which could be enormous too.
For example: if the figure's price is 45$, the shipping is 25$ like in the raptors campaign and the custom fee is of about 25-30€ (29-34$) I'll have to pay in total 104$ (92€) more than the double of the price of the figure! And this will happen if I'll get only the Monoclonius, which will not happen because I want also the Psittacosaurus.
So probably it's better that I get it on Ebay for an inflated price, or that I don't get it at all.
What do you think?

David revealed the color scheme for the Torosaurus today! Colors are based on the Blue-spotted Tree Monitor (Varanus macraei) and Whiptail Blue Lizard (Cnemidophorus murinus)

If this is some sort of April Fools prank I might cry haha

suspsy

Silva stated awhile back that he would be using the blue tree monitor's colour scheme, so no, this isn't a prank. And I have to say, the Torosaurus looks terrific that way!

So that just leaves the adult Triceratops, which will probably not be all that different from the subadult one.

What an absolute beauty. I'm not a huge fan of Torosaurus on its own, but I do love that color scheme on it, as well as the orange on the frill. Would probably display nice to the blue-footed boobie Acheroraptor too.

The color scheme of the torosaurus flyer reminds me of the torosaurus of the WWD series of the BBC.

Killekor

That Torosaurus is exceptional!!! I hope that is not too big, because I don't know how I'll resist on getting one!!!

A bluish torosaurus would be great. The colors are very good for that ceratopsid. But I would like to see the prototypes of the BoTM figures completed and not as projects in drawings. I admit that in this case I am a little impatient.

David posted pictures of the finished Monoclonius prototype today! It looks absolutely amazing, I love the colors ;D
