Quote from: TooOldForDinosaurs on August 30, 2023, 06:08:31 AMCongrats S @SidB ! Your impressive Favorite Collection keeps on growing ;)
Thanks, avatar_TooOldForDinosaurs @TooOldForDinosaurs . When I first started collecting, back in 2009, starting largely with figures that I found in local thrift shops, I discovered, later in the year, the DTB and subsequently the existence of the Kinto/Favorite collection. At that time it consisted of the 2004 Soft models, the vinyls not being in my area of collecting and the desktoppers being beyond my financial means at the time. I was taken with their appearance, style and production values. They were very hard to get back then, but I found a source at the Black Hills Institute of all places. I've always had a liking for them, even if they are a sort of second fiddle here on the DTF.

I've acquired the "small" Schleich Saichania!  It's the one that comes in a two-pack with a Giganotosaurus.  It's larger than I was expecting and... very nice.  It's my first Schleich figure!  And, it's made me like Schleich!  I never thought I would say that!  Their figures are well-made and cheerful... at least now.

Additional photos can be found in the respective threads!

NEVER IN MY LIFE did I expect to see another one. I passed up on one a few years back at a gift shop an regretted ever since. Now I do not have to!!!!!

I'm way too excited to not share this a bit prematurely (since I don't actually have received this yet) but this has been a long dream come true. I've just been able to acquire the BBC WWD Ophthalmosaurus plushie from 1998 - with the tag still on it even. Just look at this cutie:

Aaaah I can't wait for it to join my pod and to share my own photos. It will make an excellent addition to my WWD Ophthalmosaurus family.  ^-^

Regarding this topic; Does anyone have some information where they were sold from and how many different plushies there were for the original release? From other eBay auctions I know about the Diplodocus, Triceratops and Leaellynasaura plushie, that have a velcro on their belly and can be turnt inside out into an egg/ hatchling - but besides that I can barely find any information on these 1998 plush dinosaurs.

Well done, avatar_Primeval12 @Primeval12 . This is a great example of Forest Rogers' unique style and a fitting climax to her late body of work. I found that the tooth line was hastily painted on most copies, but a judicious touch up will restore the original look of the dentiary intended by the sculptor.

It's been a busy week. This fellow arrived Thursday, completing all of my current orders up to that point. HLG is grapping most of my attention theses days, but I really like the sculpt of this PNSO Megalosaurus. I wish that they would do more small to mid-sized figures.

Box day yesterday, and WOW did that come fast - I placed my order with Safari Ltd. just three days earlier!

Estemmenosuchus and Utahraptor are a delight, apart from some minor warping in the raptor's face. I'm excited for the rest of the year's lineup to join them.

EmperorDinobot

BOTM straight from the source, and the minis I got from avatar_HappyHen @HappyHen 's store. Lightning speed delivery, and will likely return for more stuff.
I've gotten other stuff too, but these were the ones I managed to take pictures of while in their boxes.

AcroSauroTaurus

These two came in recently.
Beasts of the Mesozoic Proceratosaurus

Beasts of the Mesozoic Dryptosaurus

I am the Dinosaur King!

Faelrin

Man you all are making really tempted to pick up that Proceratosaurus. It might be the first thing I go for after Cyberzoic's kickstarter.

avatar_EmperorDinobot @EmperorDinobot It's really interesting how poorly represented they were (Yutyrannus aside), to having at least one figure each now, and lots of options, with Mattel finishing them off with Kileskus and Sinotyrannus. I find it odd they haven't done a Guanlong or Yutyrannus yet, or at least the latter since it is a popular dinosaur, though they may inevitably get to them in time. In fact I think they are now the first theropod family to have each of its members represented in figure form, perhaps shockingly.

Concavenator

Congrats everyone!

avatar_EmperorDinobot @EmperorDinobot avatar_Faelrin @Faelrin According to Naish & Cau (2022), Yutyrannus is not a proceratosaurid.

Faelrin

avatar_Concavenator @Concavenator. Interesting. So while Yutyrannus is removed from it, it seems that Dilong is now considered to be there. A quick look at wikipedia shows it is a bit messy. In 2014 Dilong was considered to be a proceratosaurid. Then in 2016 it was considered not to be (but Yutyrannus was). Now in that paper it is considered to be in it again, with Yutyrannus removed. I guess I'll need to move those around in that thread I was recently working on. Though not today, next time I work on it.
