I wouldn't say that they entirely botched it. It certainly could have been better if it was an entire new sculpt, instead of mostly being a retool of the Roarivores Allosaurus. The biggest issue it has is really due to the proportions (such as the short legs, oversized head, and small thin short tail, etc), which were problematic on the original Roarivores Allosaurus, However the color scheme is pretty similar, and the head sculpt is mostly spot on as well (I'll have examples of this below in a spoiler, because it contains screen-caps of the short film, and I don't want to spoil it here for folks that have yet to watch it). It's also sadly missing the crocodilian scutes (much like on the Papo figure) along the back, with the exception of the spikes, which is probably also due to it having been mostly a retool, and slight resculpt.

Spoiler
The Allosaurus in BaBR:

The Mattel toy (the pic below is one I took for my review on this figure, that helps show off the sculpt from the front, particularly the head):

Edit: No sooner then I finished posting this I heard a knock at the door, and was quite surprised to find that my Amargasaurus had finally been shipped from Amazon. I'm so glad to finally have this one in my collection now. That leaves two species left for me (the Mononykus, and definitely the Brachiosaurus), other then a few more repaints/retools on my wishlist (such as Echo, the SS Plesiosaurus, and the white Legacy raptor, etc).

Newly revealed Savage Strikes. I suppose one's a postosuchus, not sure what the Ankylosaur is, sauropelta maybe?

Flaffy

Definitely Sauropelta. Looks a bit weird, but it's nice seeing ankylosaurs other than Ankylosaurus get the spotlight. Doug's version is easily leagues ahead of this one though.

Wouldn't mind getting that green Velociraptor and the Postosuchus... if they ever arrive here. Mattel's distribution has been worse than ever, and their competitors have constantly been pushing them out of their own shelves.

tanystropheus

Postosuchus looks great! I hope Minmi, Tapejara and Rhamphorhynchus gets repaints at some point.

Where did this image come from? Are there individual shots?

No idea where the picture came from, I just saw it on Facebook. Here's some (I think) individual shots.

ItsTwentyBelow

Cool! I like how the Postosuchus colors are reminiscent of the unreleased Jurassic Park Series II Ornithosuchus. The Sauropelta is a welcome new addition; I like how the pelvic region has broadened a bit compared to Minmi.

Great to be able to save money on the others, and is that Pachycephalosurus paint #4?

Goddamnit, is that the jumping Blue again?!
Third time it'll be released if that's the case...

The new stuff does look pretty good though!
This is not your planet to rule. The Fallen shall rise again.

If there's one thing I can for certain after seeing Battle at Big Rock - Mattel botched the Allosaurus toy design entirely.

Disagree entirely, I think mattel got it pretty spot on, much better than their first attempt at the species. TBH I'm more curious why both Mattel and Takara made a bright blue Nasutoceratops when the one from the short is creame brown.

CityRaptor

Maybe the blue was an earlier color scheme that ultimately was replaced by the one in the shot.
Jurassic Park is frightning in the dark
All the dinosaurs are running wild
Someone let T. Rex out of his pen
I'm afraid those things'll harm me
'Cause they sure don't act like Barney
And they think that I'm their dinner, not their friend
Oh no

Funk

Ugh, what's with always giving toothless pterosaurs teeth? Now Tapejara? Same mistake in the Jurassic World mobile game.

Probably because the toys are depicting the male Nasutoceratops, which has longer brow horns and a bluer colour scheme

They came from Collect Jurassic and Jurassic Outpost.

Definitely is a Sauropelta and Postosuchus as there are Entertainment Earth pre-orders for these (and more).

Agreed about the teeth where they are not needed, although that Tapejara is nothing new. It's already been available for months, and I guess this means that it will continue to be available in the months ahead, though it's curious they aren't giving it a new color pattern like so many other rereleases.

Mine is currently sitting in my Mosasaur's mouth, ha. I was put off by the teeth originally but changed my mind after seeing it in person. And you can close the Tapejara's mouth if you want.

Well the Brachiosaurus has a confirmed street date (meaning can't buy it until) October 6th, posted on Collect Jurassic's instagram: https://www.instagram.com/p/B2wnsXZlPmJ/

Not sure why there's a street date for this item, considering it has been out in the UK for a while now, but eh whatever at least it'll be out soon here in the states anyways. I'm also very glad I have like four different Target stores near me, so as long as I have the money then, I might have the chance of getting this one by then. If not I'm sure I'll have all month, and maybe more to get my hands on this beautiful figure (and of course the wonderful packaging it comes in too).

Dino Scream3232

Was very fortunate to finally get my hands on the elusive Battle Damage Proceratosaurus and Monolophosaurus. Worked out a trade with a nice Canadian collector to get them. It's really a shame these aren't readily available since these are among the best representations of these species in the line. If anyone is looking for these figures the collector I traded with has a couple extra sets and is will to trade for legacy collection (mainly any of the $9.99 dinosaurs still in box). Just message me and I can point you in the right direction. So enjoy the reviews. https://youtu.be/yr4Lm4fDEAQ https://youtu.be/ZbyvmdyTALk

If these don't show up by November I'm going to see if my pal from Germany has access to them still and just get them from him.

Edit: Actually I went and asked him how much they would cost. While I could afford it, I was wondering if there was anyone here that has access to these in Canada and could probably give me an idea on how much it would cost? In particular I would like to acquire the Proceratosaurus, Herrerasaurus, and Monolophosaurus.

In case anyone in Metro Manila is interested, there is a Jurassic World Plesiosaurus at Landmark (not TRU) Trinoma this afternoon. There was also a Carnotaurus, but not anymore. . .

Edit: Sheesh. I just saw the average price for sold items for the Loch Ness wannabe on eBay was 50 USD  :-X Had I known I would have gotten it to resell >:D

Edit 2: The plesiosaurus decided this afternoon to follow me home. And they said plesiosaurs couldn't waddle on dry land  ;D

I haven't seen any of these yet. We only just finally got the Indominus, Quetzalcoatlus, and the Roarivore repaints in.

avatar_stargatedalek @stargatedalek Thanks for the info on that. Hmm. I wonder what parts of the country had gotten these, as I saw on instagram some had acquired these from there a while back.

At least if I need to I can still acquire these from my pal in Germany, and worse case scenario likely my pal in Guatemala that I got the BD Plesiosaurus from.
