Would you guys say papo's rendition is more accurate than PNSO's?

The Papo has a skull that's closer to that of the real animal, but the PNSO has better post-cranial anatomy.

Ya sure about that chief? Last I checked spinosaurus didn't have oversized banana teeth.
The notch is also overly subdued on the Papo figure.

P @Papacube Thanks for the video. Papo's spinosaurus looks great a magnificent paleoarte work.

S @Syndicate Bias I missed seeing this earlier. Thanks for the comparison. It's very helpful since aside from the Velociraptor, the Allosaurus is the only other Papo model I have currently (very behind on them).

Edit: After seeing this in Andy's review on it, I have to say that it wasn't as bad as I was expecting it to be (in regards to the paint). Perhaps it's either the figure he received, or lighting and being able to see it at different angles in motion that makes a difference, but regardless I am still really excited to get this. Just a shame I got to wait later this month.

I meant in overall shape, if you eyeballed it. Some of the teeth are ridiculously oversized, yes. The PNSO's one isn't quite as streamlined and long as it should be, and the skull looks a bit more like Baryonyx (or some other spinosaurid).

You should see it from this image.

Just seems a lot of wasted paper and plastic in that box.  The older Carnegie and Battat figures were more economical.

To be fair, all the Battat figures (both original and Terra) originally came in boxes. And even many of the Carnegies had boxed releases in the early-mid 1990s.

I confirm what has been said. The latest Battat figures (some are still available) that I bought at urzeitshop and everythingdinosaur were all boxed.

Asian Mamenchisaurus, Yangchuanosaurus and Therizinosaurus dinosaurs with their skeletons embedded in a comparative stand were in boxes. The velociraptor special edition of Safari / Carnegie came in a box. I know from experience.

Hello,
I took some pictures of my model and I also shoot a video if you want to see it. Everything is here http://www.papacube.com/2019/12/spinosaure-edition-limitee-2019-papo-limited.html
I hope you'll like it.
Yes, I really do like it! :D Welcome to the forum and thanks for your fantastic photos and drawings (you are a magnific artist!). I came across your webpage when someone here posted the link of your page about Pentaceratops (the best figure from Papo in my opinion). Very nice photos, very nice funny drawings and so nice illustrations.

Talking about the spino, the body is ok, but the sail ... the sail was a masterpiece in painting aplication, and in the released figure the sail looks only sprayed.  ::) It misses all the darker paint.

Either way, I really like the sculpture and the tail is original at its most.

You nailed it, the paint on the body is pretty good but the sail...the lack of contrast and shading is bothersome, specially considering that the sail is one of the main focus points of a Spinosaurus figure.

I know. Compare the size of the figures to the boxes they are in though. They fit a more snug without near so much extra space as this Spino. I'm pretty sure I could get 3 maybe 4 in the same box.

I know some mentioned the pose being an issue, walking on knuckles, ect.  Well the back of the box I received is in several languages, one of them English and it says this is an " Aquatic hunting position ".  So it's meant to be in the water supporting it's weight while it pushes with the back legs along the bottom.

Wow that comparison is pretty drastic looking. I think that giving it a wash would have really helped it. Maybe any customizer's here willing to try on their's and willing to share how it turns out?

Thinking about the same ... it's too a good figure to pass that detail of the sail ...

This is a reputable and dependable merchant with fair prices. Also note that the shipping is very reasonable. I've done a good bit of business there and nary a complaint.

oscars_dinos

Im getting mine on Monday night by the looks of it... which would be grate but I'm leaving my home state to finish my studies on Monday morning  >:(

dragon53

I just got mine, and like many of you, I'm disappointed in the paint scheme---especially since the prototype photo is on the back of the box.
As for the "fish tail", is that strictly a Papo concept or did Papo get it from a  paleontologist?
