Okay, they clarified a winner....it's a mermaid toob! Well........that's very underwhelming. If you don't believe me: https://www.safariltd.com/and-the-winner-is
I put 3. Koolasuchus 2. Paraceratherium 1. Appalachiosaurus  Unfortunately, that won't be happening.
Most (if not all) Rebor figures are mid

That's a load of crap... No Diictodon for me....

$10 says they picked something at random, or picked something they already had planned.

Flaffy

Almost as disappointing as the Papo Giganotosaurus.

Oh well, Safari pushes out many fantastic prehistoric releases every year anyways. Not a big loss.

Pachyrhinosaurus

While the announcement is disappointing it only makes sense that Safari would consider other popular suggestions. If there was a standout species for their prehistoric range I could see them making it.

Hey, look on the bright side. Maybe they'll include a manatee, the original putative inspiration for mermaids.

Shonisaurus

He would be in favor of Safari making a chasmosaurus and a protoceratops.

Both ceraptosides are well known.

An albertosaurus, gorgosaurus or guanlong would be three interesting tyrannosaurids, considering that in the past Carnegie and Safari made those figures. The Safari brand should make these updated figures again.

On the other hand if the sale of Safari prehistoric mammals works it would be interesting a paraceratherium is one of the largest prehistoric land mammals of all time and well known to the public even children and I do not understand why any current company, except Collecta does not dare to market it, even that great brand like Safari has discontinued it.

On the other hand, an elasmotherium would be interesting to make its collector counterpart competent.

Also interesting would be a scipionyx, orodromeus or a baryonyx I would like an updated baryonyx by Safari is made in almost all brands except in Safari and at the time they made a figure for their time quite acceptable.

On the other hand a saltasaurus that replaces the old figure of Carnegie would be interesting. The Carnegie version has been outdated and there is no saltasaurus in the toy market.

I would like a diplocaulus, moschops, edaphosaurus, diplocaulus.

It would also be interesting a pterosaur, in fact there are many publications in all countries of the world in the version of magazines about those strange and beautiful prehistoric animals of the Mesozoic I would like a dsungaripterus, ptedosaustro (the flamingo pterosaur) and a ludydactilus.

An xiphactinus, a leedsichthys or an orthoconus would be interesting among the Mesozoic and Paleozoic sea creatures.

What does it mean that Safari chose that Mermaid Toob thing? So they opened a suggestion list  and the winner would be announced to be an upcoming release?

Yes, they took all the suggestions, selected one suggestion, and announced it as the winning product to be included in the 2021 lineup. I imagine they got thousands of suggestions; probably a lot of them will be in the 2021 lineup by coincidence. But the Mermaid Toob is the official winner.

Does that mean that the Mermaid Toob was the most frequently requested item?  ???
It would have been very exciting to see a prehistoric animal be picked as the official winner  :P

There is no way to know. It may have been chosen by random, or they may have chosen a submission that were already planning to release. They may have had some focus group of parents/kids vote on it, though I doubt it.

I don't think they chose it randomly. It wouldn't be very intelligent to randomly pick one suggestion out of all and go ahead with it, bearing in mind that they would have to go through the process of designing, marketing, and producing it, just because one random person suggested it. There must have been another criteria, I think.

I request for some feathered, liped maniraptorians with accurate limb proportions from Mr. Watson especially from the Dinosaur Park Formation (having highest dinosaur diversity), such as Dromaeosaurus albertensis, Hesperonychus  elizabethae, Latenivenatrix  mcmasterae, Saurornitholestes langstoni. Any one of them would be great. I request to make them in scale to go with the bigger tyrannosaurs or other big non-avian dinosaurs of the ecosystem.

We still admire his sculpt of V.mongoliensis, but it was somewhat devoid of lips. Please add lips in these ones and present us with more colorful, fascinating and furious maniraptorians, with exactly proportioned tibia and fibula especially. The Deinonychus figure suffers from accurate finger proportions. The third claw finger is actually shorter than the first and second (the largest)ones but in the figure the length and width of the third digit surpassed that of the second which is utterly lean in the figure. Take care of these little issues while sculpting.

Larger classic raptors such as Utahraptor or Achillobator are also warmly welcome, but I want more maniraptorians sculpted by Mr. Doug Watson.

Sarapaurolophus

So much bitterness in here. You can use the small mermaids to decorate your marine reptiles :))

Shonisaurus

I would like an atopodentatus and a lotosaurus, that prehistoric reptile would be an interesting one to be recreated by Doug Watson. Prehistoric animals with candle are quite interesting.

On the other hand a shonisaurus or shastasaurus. Those figures are still not well represented enough in the toy market and they are two very interesting marine reptiles as well as being one of my favorite prehistoric animals, well I honestly like all or almost all of them (so we're going to fool ourselves).

The amount of lip that could be considered accurate right now for theropods is if the oral margin on the skull is down far enough to at least cover the gumline. And with the same amount of corresponding lip tissue on the narrower bottom jaw along with the teeth set properly in the gums, this should still cover all but maybe the tips of the longest teeth* when the mouth was closed.
*There is an argument that the teeth must be covered to retain moisture or the enamel will crack from drying out,but crocodiles can hibernate in winter months out of water with no problem,so some exposed theropod teeth is not so much of an impossibility. :)
Don't you hate it when you legitimately compliment someone's mustache and she gets angry with you?
