The Collecta iridescent microraptor is great. Nice acquisition.

A snap of the CollectA Microraptor.  Everything Dinosaur sent out a free Mojo Fun Lucky Golden Rat key ring in the box, so I took a photo for them, as they had requested, to put up on social media.  I've put up more photos of just the CollectA model in my thread.

This is what they are probably saying
Mammal:hey Jimmy
Microraptor: What
Mammal: All you guys are gonna die and my future descendants will be typing about plastic pieces sculpted after you and will get in arguments about what you guys look like.
Microraptor:What the Heck man, I just broke up with my wife and here you go with you "speculations'', you know what, you are getting off

Collecta has informed me that they are currently in a rut similar to Safari's; profits are down nearly 50%. :( So if you're wanting any of the new toys, be sure to get them if you can. Your business would be much appreciated!

Well, it's bad news, but for my part, unfortunately, the coronavirus crisis was to be expected. Hopefully Collecta won't get worse. It is a shame what is happening on a global scale.  :(

50% is a lot. I assume this is not just from production shutting down but people spreading rumors that packages from China are infected.

Wildest thing I heard was a guy telling me the virus can sit in the micropores of the plastic ::)

I hope they can recover without having to let go of too many workers. Actually, they could raise their prices if they wanted to. CollectA is always cheaper than Schleich or Papo here.

I can imagine. I hope that they are getting orders from retailers since everyone is now shopping online!
Unlike Safari, CollectA doesn't have their own online store, so any support would have to come from retailers reorder.
Doing my part, just ordered some from another online store.

Honestly that's a shame to hear but perhaps not unexpected at this point. I'm still wondering when the latter of their figures, particularly the invertebrates will be going in stock, since I do recall they did face delays because of this pandemic, although I'm still behind with getting several of their older figures, or recent releases, so perhaps I should prioritize those first instead, such as the Edaphosaurus, Estemmenosuchus, if not anything else, before worrying about the as of yet unreleased figures.

My most anticipated figures from the second part of Collecta's prehistoric animals are the saltriovenator, lisowicia bojani and the invertebrates apart from caviramus to a lesser extent.

Above all I would like to have in my collection the lisowicia bojani and saltriovenator are the strong bets of Collecta 2020 second part of figures from my personal opinion.

I think the trilobite and the three cephalopods are likely to sell very well. Hopefully that will help stave off financial ruin.  :-\

Shame to hear both CollectA and Safari are taking such hits, but I can't say it comes as a surprise given the state of things. That being said, I actually have been ordering quite a few CollectA figures as of late (the deluxe styracosaurs, the latest rex, the deluxe iguanodon, borealopelta, brontosaurus, acrocanthosaurus and the new bajadasaurus) Unfortunately there seems to be delays on international shipping from Australia, and with a majority of those models coming my way from MiniZoo I'm forced to wait.

Stuckasaurus (Dino Dad Reviews)

Are the invertebrates up at Everything Dinosaur yet? I tried to look them up there a few days ago but I couldn't find any listing.

suspsy

I think they were originally scheduled for release in June, but due to production delay, they probably won't be available till late summer. That's if we're lucky.

I agree they could raise their prices a bit, especially on the non-deluxe figures. It's crazy to me how much Schleich charges, I suppose a lot of what you're paying for with them is a muscular marketing department.

One thing that would really help CollectA would be to have a good North American distributor.

Flaffy

Considering how they don't even have a competent distributor in their base/location of operation, I doubt that it'll happen.

(I believe CollectA is based in Hong Kong?)

Shonisaurus

Collecta should have a couple of good distributors in the UK and Germany to give two examples. They are the two nations in Europe best placed economically and could market these dinosaurs and prehistoric animals at affordable prices, they would need an economically strong supplier in America (USA) and in Europe two suppliers (United Kingdom) and another in the EU (Germany or even France). It would be the most accurate.

A case of  putting the cart before the horse ". They have a great product but it seems little business /marketing power.

Yes, they are based in Hong Kong, which has unfortunately added to their recent woes due to the ongoing civil unrest.

It was really interesting encountering a couple in-store displays of Collecta dinosaurs at different retailers when I was working in rural southwest Washington state last summer.

I have only seen Collecta at one other toy store and a traveling zoo exhibit in Washington otherwise. Breyer must have made a half-hearted attempt to distribute Collecta alongside their horses in the states for a short time. The retailers I found Collecta at were very different, one being an educational kids' toy store with wooden train layout and stuffed animals, the other was a giant outdoor and work wear store. Both had Breyer stuff too. So Breyer was successfully marketing Collecta to a variety of local retailers in this town.

Just interesting. Does anyone have more info on Breyer/Collecta continuing to partner up?
