You'd think that of all franchises, JP/W would be the one to emphasise creature characteristics.

Removing a Dinosaur's defining characteristics to make them into a more generic monster is this franchise's favorite pastime.
HA so true

avatar_Faelrin @Faelrin I just want to say you've done an exemplary job maintaining this thread. It's exactly what a "[COMPANY] - New for [YEAR]" thread should be.
In the kingdom of the blind, better take public transit. Well, in the kingdom of the sighted, too, really--almost everyone is a terrible driver.

Thanks. I suppose you can blame my obsession for that one, haha. Honestly I also enjoy doing this, and having everything (or as much as possible) up in a tidy way to make things easy to keep track of as well. My BotM tyrannosaur series thread is similar. Granted most of my info comes from Collect Jurassic too which may make things easier, especially as far as good quality pics.

Edit: I'm also glad I got dibs on this one for once.

That reminds me I need to still update that other Mattel thread in my signature, with the new species, etc revealed. I usually give that one a go every few months. I wonder how much longer it will take before I hit the limit in that one.

Collect Jurassic has started the "save the stripe" initiative on social media with the intent that future runs of the nedry pack add the missing red stripe to the jeep.

Considering they have basically been Mattel's "lackies", it is good to see them being more critical and taking action.

From Collect Jurassic, Masiakasaurus. Weird how they chose to exclude it's most defining trait: the downturned lower jaw with curved teeth. You'd think that of all franchises, JP/W would be the one to emphasise creature characteristics.

That's a funny looking one! Add horns to it and it could be a relative of this Jim Henson monster:

Wait. That looks almost exactly like the Swamp Monster/The Predator from Dinosaurs (Die Dinos). :D

A review of the Apatosaurus:
Absolutely beautiful. Also very glad to see it has black eyes instead of whatever the promotional picture had.

And damn! Looks to be larger that I thought, dare I said, a bit too big. Mattel could have made her 10% smaller and it would still be in good scale.

Making the Apatosaurus smaller would have necessitated a whole new price point. Mattel (and the retailers) clearly would like it sold at the same price point as the Brachiosaurus.

Appalachiosaurus

Jesus Christ, it's huge! That things closer to an Argentinosaurus than an Apatosaurus.

Faelrin

Over sized or not, this is way better then I've been dreaming of these past, uh, nearly 6 years now. I would never had guessed the tail tip has articulation as well, aside from the more obvious areas such as head, jaw, legs, etc.

And now I'm only left wondering when we'll see it here in the US, and elsewhere.

Gosh I really hope to see this alongside the Dino Riders Brontosaurus (which I considered getting/hunting for years now to stand in for the lack of JW Apatosaurus toy, but never got around to getting one obviously).

I've said it before, but I'll say it again, we really are so lucky they've dared to do this at all, and again with this one, after the beloved Brachiosaurus. It's so nice to have such huge sauropod toys after so so long (all of which I missed out on as a child). At least I have the opportunity to be lucky enough to see the joy it brings to my nieces faces.

Stegotyranno420

That snap squad stegosaurus looks like a cartoony version of a stegosaurus and tyrannosaurus. Speaking of a combination of stego and tyranno...
