D @David96 Thanks for sharing that one. Despite how much I liked the Harris Hawk inspired original, I think I prefer this one now. I mean both are great, but this new one just edges over the previous one. Between this white black and red Dryptosaurus, and black and blue Yutyrannus, I'm getting sort of a fire and ice vibe between them too.

More pics while we wait for the Kickstarter:

Quote from: Creative Beast StudioThings are super busy over here gearing up for Tuesday, but I've had a few requests to see the Cyberzoic color designs for the Dryptosaurus and Yutyrannus, so I guess it's time I got caught up on those! Yuty is based on a Raven, while Drypto is based on a House Finch.

Man I am really digging the fire clan aesthetic. I mean I think I liked it before from the concept art, but I really like how the armor is looking fully painted up. I wasn't even planning on the Dryptosaurus originally, but dang I am loving how it looks here. It's great seeing all these painted up too.

Edit: Looks like there is a sneak peek of the painted up Deinonychus prototype as well.

I hate to say this, and I hope I'm in the minority here, but this is not a particularly enticing initial lineup to me, at least not enough to make me want to back the campaign right away as there's nothing here that I'm clamoring for.
The mixed focus (dinosaurs, mammals, and fantasy) might help or hinder it and it makes me wonder how quickly this funding will go compared to the likes of the Tyrannosaurs, Ceratopsians, and raptors.

Faelrin

avatar_Eocarcharia @Eocarcharia Look to the left of the Dilophosaurus. Seemed to be a feathered tail tip there, that looks like it might be from the Deinonychus. Not sure if it is from the Utahraptor since that has a bit more of an orange or brown coloration on it, which the Utahraptor doesn't have, since it has a striped whited and black tail.

Glad to see some initial prices. Curious as to what that first stretch goal is gonna be? Dryptosaurus or Yutyrannus, or something new entirely? I kind of want to hold out until we get pricing for the Utahraptor, Carnotaurus, and Deinonychus, and Dilophosaurus, which are all gonna be stretch goals (well Utahraptor should be similar to the BotM version, if not the Cyberzoic Achillobator). I have $150 plopped down on my card the other day, but my card's max is $200, so that's really gonna limit what I can pay before the kickstarter ends. Of course I can always add more when the backerkit survey is out too, hopefully.

At the same I can always just change my pledge later on, which isn't a big deal. I guess I'll start with the Smilodon, and go from there, since it is one of the ones I want quite a bit, and it is on the cheaper side, even if I'd rather prioritize the others (or at least Carnotaurus and Deinonychus). Should have at least 30 days after it launches to get this all figured out anyways.

I'm also glad the prices for the humans and armor, post msrp aren't like significantly different. I'd like to focus more of my funds on the creatures for now, and pick them up later then.

I'm going to be honest I'm not really interested in the armour or fantasy elements of this, it looks cool just not something I'm really interested in. Prehaps later down the line I might take more interest in it, but for now I'm mostly just interested in the Dinosaurs and the odd mammal. That Utahraptor is my number 1 for this kickstarter!

Okay so David confirmed Deinonychus will be a Wave 2 stetch goal in an instagram comment. So that rules that one out for sure as the first stretch goal. Probably something brand new then? Utahraptor is also Wave 2 stretch goal per FB comment. Edit: Dilophosaurus is also a Wave 2 stretch goal, per FB comment. That just leaves Carnotaurus, Dryptosaurus and Yutyrannus. As well as the Lizard Dragon.

Some sizes for the Smildon and Carnotaurus in inches from a comment on the FB post:

Smilodon- 8" x 4" and Carno- 18" x 6.5"

Edit 2: The Yutyrannus is about 16 inches long from snout to the tip of the tail, and about 5.5 inches tall at the hips, so Carnotaurus is just slightly bigger. I think that puts it close to the Mattel one, give or take.

Eatmycar

I'm sincerely worried that not enough work has been done to market this line outside of the paleo toy-collecting community. I will be completely honest: I'm in for Allosaurus so far and that's it.

That's not to say that David's work is bad, no. Far from it, but this line should be spread to people collecting stuff like Dime Novel Legends figures or Boss Fight Studios' Vitruvian HACKS line just as much as the Paleo community, if not more so. Time will tell, of course, but I would sincerely hate to see this flounder because not enough people want giant dragons or robot dino-drones.

Blade-of-the-Moon

I'm considering maybe maybe getting the Allosaurus with armor. If I keep the armor off the head it does look very Dino Riders like..

David just shared the finished Smilodon artwork (with Dragolina). I'll edit the pic in after I get back to my laptop (unless one of you all beat me to the punch here lol), in a few.

Edit: Up now (edit 2: almost forgot, artist for this is Raph Lomotan):

Here's a quick comparison of the wip pic that was posted before (without the dragon and armor on both cat and rider):

I am really liking the shades of green and orange used on both of these. They look so good together. I'm pretty sure the dragon included is the Lizard Dragon that was teased before, but I asked David on instagram just to be sure. Actually right before posting this I did see he did replied and confirmed it is indeed the Lizard Dragon we are seeing here.

Concavenator

David said on a Facebook comment that the BotM version of the Allosaurus will hopefully be released next year as well (I'm assuming he's referring to A. jimmadseni).

I'm glad to finally see the finished Allosaurus, that thing is just glorious. Best Allosaurus collectible ever made, period. However, in case I end up getting a version of the 1:18 Allosaurus (hopefully a 1:35 will be released so this will be avoided  ::) ), I will wait and see how the BotM version comes out. I'm liking the BotM variants' color schemes more than the Cyberzoic's.

Also, I checked the Tyrannosaur Kickstarter page in order to compare the prices of the Body 4 tyrannosaurs to the Allosaurus', and I'm pleasantly surprised to see the Allosaurus being cheaper than those (140 $ MSRP vs 120 $ MSRP), I thought it was going to be the same price. Granted, it's not a huge difference and I imagine the Allo being slightly cheaper is due to it lacking so many accessories (base and standing legs), but these figures are already quite expensive as they are, so even if it's just a bit cheaper, that's appreciated. I personally don't care for all those accessories, the stand that was shown with the Dilophosaurus is enough for me.

Giganotosaurus

I forget, which Allosaurus species typically appears in media (like Jurassic World)? That'll determine which to prioritize for me, although I'll get both eventually for sure.

avatar_Giganotosaurus @Giganotosaurus Jurassic World's design was based on Allosaurus jimmadseni. While the reconstruction was off, the WWD Ballad of Big Al technically was based on it, as Big Al itself is a specimen of A. jimmadseni. The initial Cyberzoic one is based on this species, so I think you might be in luck.

Blade-of-the-Moon

Allosaurus being my favorite dino I could possible be persuaded to double dip for one of each color scheme.

Honestly even in the main BOTM line for the Tyrannosaurs at least I find just about all the extra legs and feet and even bases are pretty useless. They tend to display best in their neutral pose, which is ok, not very dynamic though.  I'm really considering posing them and epoxying them up as models.

Ah, I see it now. Good eye. You may be right, since it really doesn't look like any of the other figures, even the 1/6 raptors (which I thought it could be at first).

My guess for the mystery stretch goal is the 6" human figures shown at Powercon. Maybe. I guess we'll know tomorrow.

I'll also agree with others' sentiment here that the initial offerings aren't terribly exciting to me. The Allosaurus is cool but I'd prefer to hold off until the other colorways are shown. I'm not really interested in the dragons, and I'm still not sure if I want to go in on the armor and riders either. I just hope the campaign does well enough to unlock the more interesting items like the Utahraptor and Deinonychus. I suppose that will determine if I back any of the starters.

David96

Well, given that so many people are talking about the armors, something that maybe could help them get more interest around them may be polishing their paintjobs a bit more. I didn't wanted to admit it since a while but they could be quite better. I'm not claiming at all that they are bad but imho they are not on the same league as the creatures, they are good but the creatures' are GREAT. The white armors of the Allosaurus and the Utahraptor for example look a bit basic, compared to the silver armors of the pilots which imho would look more eye catching than the white on the armors aswell. On the other the Achillobator's armor looks good but also quite incomplete, maybe it could use a wash or something that would make it seem more polished.

Maybe it could be because painting animals/creatures and painting mechs/vehicles are completely different animals, and they requiere different approaches and practice. David is a God at painting creatures, whether it's the Dinosaurs or Dragons, but maybe he's not as used to painting robots. Which is understandable because it's vastly different. However given how visual the public is I hope that he revises that possibility, I for example wouldn't have gotten into Warhammer (f.e.) despite its huge costs if not for the moment where I got mezmerized by the painted miniatures I saw that day. And among them there were offcourse some impressively painted vehicles, on par with any of the creatures when it comes to eye catching paintjobs.

Dusty Wren

The campaign just launched and they're already up $14,000. That's a promising start. I hope the starting lineup will carry them to the initial goal--the figures are all beautiful, but it's always tricky to get people invested in a new IP.
