I meant any physical differences, although the only ones I had in mind were visible male genitalia and female nipples.  I guess they could be hidden by long fur?  Or maybe not?  It's interesting to hear about other physical differences between mammals.  I personally don't think size or build would be significant enough to be worth including instead of sharing parts though.

stargatedalek, why would you not want that?  I'm genuinely curious.

Faelrin

avatar_Sim @Sim I agree with you. Would be odd to have them left out, but unless the physiology is extremely different then maybe an average build (or something in the middle) would be a good middle ground, since there's always individual variation on both ends. I would also hope to see some females, aside from males, for variety. Heck I pretty much use my original and fan's choice Dromaeosaurus as a breeding pair, with the female the brown goshawk coloration, and the male as the kestrel orange and white coloration. Then again it also gave me vibes to the original JP and TLW raptors which had a similar color palette going on.

Though the discussion of this has led me to wonder if the BotM ceratopsians and tyrannosaurs have cloacas (when not feathered) present? I would assume so, but don't have any on hand to check (well except my Kickstarter exclusive Centrosaurus/Monoclonius though, but I'd rather not open that up atm). I don't want to have to like sit through a review to find out though, lol.

I checked my BotM Triceratops, no cloaca. Wonder if it has something to do with wanting them to work as (or just evoke) kid's toys like the Jurassic Park dinosaurs, even if they more accurate in most details.

Well, luckily afrotherians do not have a scrotum, so that's a whole big group where differences unrelated to size or secondary characteristics like tusks would be minimal.

other than the Woolly Mammoth and maybe hopefully another Proboscid, I doubt we'll be seeing many afrotherians in the line.  I'm not expecting this series to be very big.

suspsy

I can see the American mastodon being part of this line. Something more distinctive from the woolly mammoth like Platybelodon would be more preferable, though.

Achillobator getting painted up! David says it's the Cyberzoic version, but to me it resembles the more vibrant BotM version more?

It's nice to see progress on another.  The head does look like the BotM concept art but the white feathers around the neck is only in the Cyberzoic version's concept art.

I wonder what will come next?  Painting the BotM Utahraptor or a Cyberzoic repaint like Styracosaurus?  The Cyberzoic Dilophosaurus concept art?  A physical version of Allosaurus?  Stegosaurus computer model?

andrewsaurus rex

Achillobator looks like it's based on a vulture.  Is it?  If not, it's pretty cool.

Sim

I'm not bothered by a lack of cloaca or male/female exclusive anatomy.  Plus the only mammals I'm interested in are cetaceans which would have nipples/genitalia hidden in life, so lack of them on a figure is basically the same as in real life.

suspsy

I'm liking the Achillobator a lot. I wonder if there really were any dromaeosaurs with naked noggins like that?

The wrinkly texture is pretty gnarly, in a good way. I can't really see anything but a condor with that color scheme, though. Maybe I'll find the other color scheme more Achillobator.

I hope he'll correct the Allosaurus thumb claws and give it appropriately elongated ones. I reached out to David and he said be would look into that with Jake Baardse. A shame Safari and PNSO overlooked this detail, David has the opportunity to be the only version that accurately represents this detail along with the Mesozoo.

Faelrin

avatar_Concavenator @5aurophaganax Didn't the Papo also get that right? Granted it's inaccurate in a lot of other ways (though I still love it).

Good catch on that though. Would be a shame to have that repeated with these versions.

avatar_Faelrin @Faelrin you're right, I forgot about that one. Since you mention it, it's surprising Papo got that detail right whereas Safari and PNSO didn't!

I though BotM Ceratopsians are meant to have lizard-like cloaca slit, similar to what Safari sculpts onto some of their dinos? I have only two ceratopsians, but I can see a very subtle cloaca 'slit' sculpted on both of them.

Faelrin

avatar_Concavenator @5aurophaganax Hard for me to tell, but I believe it was there on the original sculpt, but was dulled down for child safety reasons. Doug has images of his original sculpts he did for Safari Ltd in his collection thread (although it appears to not have been updated with any of the post 2019 sculpts as far as I can tell).

I've heard from some folks that had it on PNSO's, but there are others who did not. A bit confusing.

From David. Anyone by chance going to this?

QuoteJust a heads up to those in the New Jersey area- I'll be at LegionsCon this weekend, Nov. 5-6 in Secaucus, NJ! The event is sold out, so I guess if you're going you'd already know. For those that are, be sure to come by our table. In addition, I'll be doing a Q and A session on Sunday at 2pm where I'll be discussing Cyberzoic, BotM, and other toy collecting topics. I hope to see you there!

Two main reasons; I like the flexibility of being able to use them interchangeably whenever reasonably possible, and I also just don't wanna get flashed if I can avoid it. Cloaca's are different as they are a lot more subtle and flush to the body, same for cetaceans.

avatar_suspsy @suspsy As much as I'd love to, tickets are sold out already, and I didn't get one. However I'm still in quite a bit of pain from the other day (edit: so even if I could get one, I likely wouldn't be in any shape to go anyways). Bummer, but I'm glad I was able to go at least last year (especially with the tyrannosaur prototypes on display), and other years prior. I suppose there's always next year hopefully though.

Edit: Oh and yeah avatar_stargatedalek @stargatedalek that's a fair enough point. Especially with the potential colors variants tied to Cyberzoic and BotM. Folks might want one color on the other or vice versa, and might prefer a different sex with whatever colors available, for any reason.

Edit 2: Come to think of it, although probably unlikely it would be pretty cool to get a gynandromorph bird, like with some extant species. Granted it could be also be a cool thing to try my hand at a custom paint job perhaps.
