Quote from: thomasw100 on October 04, 2024, 02:56:46 PMPNSO has released a total of 6 figures in 2024, which is an all time low. What is particularly unusual is that they have not released any Museum line figure in this year. We can only speculate about potential reasons. I would think that this low output is due to combination of a number of reasons.

First, PNSO seems to be involved a lot with museum collaborations and exhibitions lately. They are not just a dinosaur figure manufacturer, but they produce books, exhibition materials and different works of paleoart. They may feel the need to diversify their activities more than before.

Second, the economy in China is not doing as well as maybe 2 or 3 years ago, and people will cut on purchases other than what is essential for their everyday life.

Third, PNSO might feel the pressure from competition due to companies like Haolonggood, Meng, Recur and a few others. Probably Haolonggood is the fiercest competitor and has been able to release very good figures at a much cheaper price than PNSO.

Fourth, people may have become more selective in their purchases given the high number of figures that was released by both PNSO and Haolonggood. Last year, both companies together released 35 figures. Only die hard collectors would be able to buy them all.

Fifth, PNSO may have indeed rushed all their non lipped theropods that were in various stages of development and production last year, because they may have feared that they would become obsolete. This may have reduced the number of figures they could release this year.
I will say I wouldn't miss the museum line if they decided to get rid or it OR if they made it optional, I'm very surprised the edmonto and camara weren't museum line figures given their size, detail, and species.

Still no new release... 7 weeks since the Camarasaurus.

Mid-October and we've only had six figures this year.

Do we think this will be the new norm for PNSO? 5-6 figures a year at best? They've hit the brakes out of nowhere after four years of monthly releases.

Should we be worried about the future of the company? Will we even get the Christmas figure announcement this year?

I still have hope will get a figure this month, maybe since the camara was a bit larger they wanted to let it be in the spotlight a little longer than usual, who knows maybe well get two smaller figures in the same month to make up for last month, with how active they are on their socials I'm not to worried about them

Elengassen

I'm enjoying the slowdown personally. Still got a lot of figures to catch up on, and even without PNSO it still feels like new stuff is getting released all the time.
One day we will know the truth about Spinosaurus... but not today.

Maybe they are rethinking their strategy against HLG.

possibly but that feels very reactionary, i feel like they have things planned out more in advanced

crazy8wizard

I've never felt like PNSO was ever directly competing with Haolonggood. It seems more like they're doing their own things separately.

I just got my first ever PNSO figure after holding off for years (Donald the Saurophaganax). Does anyone know where to get them for the best prices? I typically use Lana-Time. Are there any online sites that put them on sale? There are a handful I like such as Deinocheirus, Therizinosaurus, Suchomimus, etc... Thanks!

Cost can change by country to country. However, i buy from official store from Aliexpress. It's official and comes around 10-15 days from china to turkey.

If you are gonna try aliexpress, use the app. There are coins you can collect for free. (though you can't use all of it at once. A few dollars only) If you buy a product on "coins" page instead of adding to the basket , you can buy a few dollars less.

Also there are some discount days. (usually first week of the month but in there is 11.11 and black friday in november i believe)

At least you can check out and compare it to the other websites if it's better for you.

Thank you for the info! I don't buy from Aliexpress but if they do deals and sales that sounds like a good way to save some money. I'm in the US.

So it's been 2 whole months now since PNSO's last release was revealed. Think we'll get anything in November?

Baryonyx and Camarasaurus were about a month and a half apart more or less, with the Tyrannotitan and Baryonyx spaced apart about the same. Wuerhosaurus and Tyrannotitan were about a month apart though, as well as the Wuerhosaurus and Lufengosaurus.

I've been a very faithful acquirer of their products until this last stretch, even getting the tyannosaurid parade, but I've accentuated this recent drought by not getting their Wuerhosaurus, Baryonyx and Camaraaurus, since I already have adequate representatives of these taxa IMO, and am getting a bit constricted with my shelf space, even resorting to storing valued figures and intermittently rotating them back onto my available shelves. So, ya, it's sort of finally getting to the point of wanting a PNSO 'fix', but only if it's something reasonably unique and high quality, like the Lufengosaurus.

Donal the Allo... Damn you really have chosen the right moment to buy a saurophaganax ;D . Incredible figure nontheless and works perfectly as Allosaurus.

I originally wasn't worried about pnso but it is kinda crazy we have gone this long without a new figure

Honestly at this point it wouldn't surprise me if they just announced they're not making figures any more. After four years of monthly releases, 2024 just got slower and slower until we've had radio silence for two months.

But if they would not make figures any more, they will be finished as a company. What else would they sell to keep afloat? The few books and the occasional exhibition materials?

CarnotaurusKing

Thinking they might drop a lipped rex for Christmas, no idea why.

SidB

Perhaps they are reconsidering their marketing strategy, especially in face of HLG's commercial onslaught and likely success. PNSO certainly made some critical errors, for example the unrelieved succession of one theropod after another, then the fact that they persisted with the lipless look too long after it became quite controversial. The former allowed HLG to essential seize the herbivorous niche in a very big way, at a time when their own sculpting and issuing of carnivores was still developmental. I suspect that PNSO is hurting financially, but I sure wouldn't count them out by any means.
