Thanks everyone. I'll try to take more pics soon with the Desert Accessory Pack stuff, since I 'fixed' (in other words better then before) the Mononykus jaw, thanks to the hairdryer suggestion David gave me. I just put it on the highest setting, held its head about an inch or two away from it, and then just used my fingers and nail to reshape it. I'll edit this post after I get the pics to add them in.

@Runan Perhaps try messaging David on kickstarter or Facebook, and/or trying the hairdryer method on it like I did?

Edit: Pics here:

International stuff is shipping after US stuff, I believe. Seeing all these new posts and videos is getting me antsy! I can't wait til I have my Linheraptor and Acheroraptor to be in my hands! ^_^

I mean, I'm fine with waiting, I don't mean to sound bratty but... i'm just really excited

terrorchicken

I opened my sets last night but haven't had time to take them all out of their plastic, but everything looks so nice. I love the way the whole thing is packaged, and the box can be used to store everything in. The microraptor and buitreraptor figures are lovely, especially the blue iridescent sheen on the micro.

Runan

That's exactly what the mouth of my mononykus looks like, I'll have to try the hairdryer thing.

Lanthanotus

Silent but contineous reader in this thread as raptors are just not my cup of tea, but I am really interested in the accessory packs. Happy for all of you to receive those figures you so long waited for and I am curious about the first review for the blog. :)

One question though.... the figures look quite nice in sculpt but the paint job seems rather hard lined and unnatural in parts and especially the eyes look kinda goofy? Is that because of angle and photo quality?

Runan

I know mine look MUCH better in person--my phone definitely made the paint jobs look a bit wonky but they're really not.

Nice photos everyone! The Mononykus set is the one I like the most, that Protoceratops skull is a wonderful touch. Despite not liking articulated toys I'm starting to consider the option of getting the Velociraptor figure and pair it with a Protoceratops, once the ceratopsians series is done.

I will probably succumb to the Mononykus set from Everything Dinosaur. It's been helpful to see photos!  And I will restrict myself to just one raptor. The ceratopsians are just going to be too big to go mad, despite my fondness for the group.

WarrenJB

Excellent look at the Troodon, Faelrin. I'll wait 'til my Tsaagan turns up to judge the paintjob (UK backer club) but I've got a few old paints 'n' glazes hanging around, if needs be.

Ditto!

Probably just the image quality effecting how the paint detail looks, but I'd double check the images on the Creative Beast Studio FB if you have any doubts. I am really pleased with how these turned out, and the accessory packs are just as fun to play around with as I dreamed. I also received the BotM catalog yesterday that I asked about (well since it's after 2am now as I write this). One neat raptor thing right after the other. I really cannot wait for the full sized figures now, but these will do for now of course.

IrritatorRaji

Uhh, dumb question. I only now just noticed that the sets some with an extra pair of toes. Why is that?

One pair is closed for standing and one is open for when they're running and the foot is lifted off the ground :)

Fembrogon

Hoo boy, seeing people finally getting these figures - and the first review up for the Blog! - is getting me super, super excited.
Sadly, I only ordered Deluxe raptors, so I probably have another month to wait. CONGRATS to those who have their stuff, though! This has been a long time coming!

I wonder if all the Mononykus suffer from jaw warping, and why they even have this warping in the first place. :-\

ImADinosaurRARR

I've asked David about this and he quickly replied:

QuoteI've heard about this being an issue but only in one or two cases that I'm aware of. It is probably caused by the thinness of the material in the mouth parts and might be fixed by heating up the parts with a blow dryer. Nonetheless as a precaution I have requested some replacement heads from the factory.

Sim

Thanks for that, ImADinosaurRARR.  I hope the Mononykus I ordered doesn't have any jaw warping.  If it does, I think I'd probably try putting the warped parts in hot water from a kettle, and see if the warped parts regain their original shape.  I personally wouldn't use a blow dryer, to avoid the risk of its hot air melting/breaking the plastic.

:o How did you get yours already? I'm 350 km from the warehouse and I'm still waiting!
