I wasn't happy with the Mattel Allosaurus either, and am not getting one. A real disappointment for me, it's one of my favorite dinosaurs.

Faelrin

I do think the Allosaurus is one of the weaker figures in this line, especially for the Roarivores (though I think the Metriacanthosaurus is probably the worse Roarivore in terms of design. I wish it looked more like the film's viral site design, which was also used in JW: Evolution). The oversized teeth and skinny tail just kind of work against it. Maybe the blocky head too. But other then that its grown on me (especially the color scheme). Plus I had to get one for my film species collection. I can only hope there will be a more appealing (film accurate) sculpt down the road, perhaps with the release of the third JW movie (same with the Sinoceratops, not that the Pachyrhinosaurus sculpt is bad, it is just the wrong genus, depicted in the film).

(About the Allosaurus)
Well I was hoping to be convinced otherwise!

There is a screenshot of the Allosaurus facing the camera in the volcano race scene. There's a shot where its head actually does look pretty broad (for an Allosaurus).
But still the toy does look very odd, and the film version does not.

I agree about the jaw, had not noticed that before.
The deep eyes lack any binocular vision.
Really hoping for an improved release and would surely buy it.

The film Allosaurus reminds me more of the Jurassic World Evolution one. And I agree with avatar_Faelrin @Faelrin that the Metriacanthosaurus would have been a must have figure if it was more in the style of the website and JWE but ended up being weird.
Baryonyx and Suchomimus were also better in the website and game(well, bary is the same in the movie and JWE).

PRIMERaptor223 on Twitter has found the Minmi and Protoceratops at Target and shared some pictures.

I can already see a custom Box coming from that Protoceratops.

Not too impressed with the Minmi (I like CollectA's version), but the Protoceratops has a nice sculpt (despite the long leg lengths...not sure if the proportions are wrong as there are quite a few google images of long-limbed Protoceratops).

ITdactyl

Agreed.  The protoceratops seems to be a nice sculpt that's also screaming: "Paint Me!"  'Wonder how it'd look side by side with the Tyco DR version.

I think it would look great in the Tyco colors. I wonder if it also features a ball-jointed neck like its Tyco predecessor...

Dilopho

Is it just me, or does the Protoceratops lack pupils??

Finally, a model of Doyathinkesaurus.

Faelrin

I thought these were wave 3. Maybe there is no wave 3 after all and just wave 2? I suppose this means the Sinoceratops/Pachyrhinosaurus might be out there soon too (and maybe that Mosasaurus set). I guess I'll just need to keep my eyes open. I've already seen a review last night for the Grab and Growl Indoraptor which means that has been released too.

My weekly search for Spino yielded only a Ceratosaurus today, so I brought it home. It's a bit shorter and stouter than the other Roarivores, but the mouth defaults closed, which is nice. I haven't unboxed it yet, so I'm not sure how the tail looks on the figure.

Question:
Can an assembled Mosasaurus be dissembled safely without anything breaking?

I don't think so. There's nothing outside the tail or flippers that would disengage them out of their sockets. Forcefully pulling them out may break the clips inside, permanently preventing them from being assembled again.

I actually rather like the Allosaurus. The sculpt looks good and the articulation while minimal is satisfying. My only complaint is it doesn't stand as well as the others.

Sadly haven't seen any of the second wave here in Canada yet. Can't wait for the second Indoraptor, adore the articulated one.

Faelrin

@stargatedalek Not to change the subject, but I haven't seen you post here in a while. Welcome back.

On topic, I've been seeing others post finding the Minmi, Protoceratops, and Proceratosaurus on reddit, so I'm wondering if there are 3 waves or not. The Roarivores Ankylosaurus, Ceratosaurus, and Pteranodon, and the Attack Pack figures the green Dimorphodon, Herrerasaurus, Stygimoloch, and the orange Velociraptor have been out in places for a while now. I know the Suchomimus has been available on amazon for a bit now too, possibly in stores (though I haven't found one in yet). I suppose the anatomy T. rex is probably another "wave 2" release.

Yet for many of the so called wave 2 figures (using JPToys as my source of info for this), such as the Baryonyx lava playset, and the Legacy Spinosaurus, etc are still waiting to be released (in most places, since the Spinosaurus is at Smyths already).

I know Mattel_Jurassic (in some comments on their instagram posts) has confirmed that the next batch of Legacy figures (including Malcolm and the Spinosaurus) are to be coming to stores sometime in coming weeks, August possibly, as a fall release. Zia was mentioned as a fall release too.

This whole thing is honestly confusing since some stores have been getting things in places, while others have not, so it is hard to say if there was meant to be 3 waves or not, and that some things have been found and released earlier then they perhaps were meant to be.

Here is my collection of the new stuff so far, with some of my "Legacy" figures from earlier Jurassic Park lines sprinkled in!

Sorry this pic is so blurry.

It's not the one that comes with the submarine, if that's what you mean.

Oh, I just haven't looked closely at mine in a bit.

stargatedalek

There is only one Mosasaurus, the large set with the submarine and Indominus skeleton is the same Mosasaurus.
