Ok that title of this thread may be a little inaccurate, but i figured i post this here

Apprently you can only get CollectA products from Reeves intenatinal, which would be good, if they carried the entire line.

Now i know many of us shop for CollectA models via intenatinal sellers(Like Mini zoo) now, but for those of us who have limitations on shopping online(like me) this is bad news

Jose S.M.

That's bad for me. If I don't get them from the US all my shipments most likely will end in customs, I think I'm going to have to try but also I don't know how much more shipping cost will be asking from them to mini zoo. I'm sad.

Fembrogon

This sounds concerning. I guess it's time for us to hit up Reeves Int. Toys on email/social media and ask them about this.

Faelrin

Well that really bites. I was hoping on getting them from Dejankins later this year. It just isn't feasible for me to spend so much on shipping just to get some nice figures (at least in Minizoo's case). I doubt eBay will be an easy option for these either, at least not for a while. At least they still have plenty of the older figures in stock, even if it ruins my plans on getting the Dunkleosteus and Iguanodon sometime this year (probably).

Unfortunate. They were already pretty difficult to obtain. And now it's even worse.

eBay and upticked prices it is.  :(

Simon

Thanks for the heads up.  Just ordered my Iguanodon from the UK and a couple of the deluxe Styracosaurs .... "in before the price gouging starts"....  ;)

Appalachiosaurus

First we get Jurassic World 2 weeks late, and now this? 2018 is not a lucky year for American Dinosaur fans.

I;m in TN on the East Coast, my shipping from Minizoo was about 18.00 for all the new 2018s.   If you packed and shipped them from USPS it would be around 12-15.00 Minizoo also offered them slightly cheaper than Dean due to his import costs. So it really evens out nicely.

Cretaceous Crab

So how does this affect the other figures offered by CollectA?

Faelrin

Yeah sadly that's a bit too much for me to justify getting them from there (I'm in PA). I have to wonder how Everything Dinosaur is in comparison for the shipping rates? Of course it will be a while before I plan on ordering either of the ones I want, assuming I can afford too now.

Grab it! $35 isn't too bad atm. :)

Is Minizoo the cheapest place to order from now on? We should use this thread to figure out the best option at the moment.

Excluding shipping prices, probably.

I believe that Everything Dinosaur does not charge VAT (which is 20%) on models when selling to customers outside the EU, which helps offset the postal charges.  But anyone interested would need to contact them to check on this and how it works.

I was already aware of this. Which is why I stopped carrying CollectA in my store. Actually, it's why a lot of places stopped carrying CollectA. Dejankins has a workaround of sorts for older models, but a full on embargo might actually wake them up to how Reeves' is costing them business. Or CollectA's dumb decisions are...one or the other.

Maybe they shouldn't have thrown in with a HORSE focused company!

Not to beat  a dead horse but I don't understand?  We are only  a few states away, my brother works in Philly.  Dejankins, Dan's Dinosaurs, ect.. all charged  a similar shipping cost when they carried them? USPS for a Priority box is about 12.00 for those figures you mentioned.  The only way it would be cheaper would be to find them at retail and I've never seen CollecA in a store here locally.  :/

It's because CollectA is a Chinese company whose only US distributor is Reeves, and Reeves is a model horse company (as SBell pointed out). I think either a) Reeves doesn't understand or care to understand the dinosaur market or b) horses are really so spectacularly popular that it doesn't make sense for Reeves to give CollectA's entire line room in their distribution pipeline. According to dejankins, Reeves is only carrying 60 SKUs from the prehistoric line, and my guess is it's just whatever species a Reeves employee recognized and reasoned would sell.

MiniZoo really is the most economical option now for people in North America. They have a low base price and if you order a few figures at a time the shipping really isn't that bad.

Yeah, I imagine Minizoo is very pleased by this development. For what it's worth, I've aways found them to be reliable, affordable, and friendly.

I feel inclined to add that one of Reeve's lines (Breyer) is pretty much the whole reason that horse collecting became a thing (and the reason why horse collectors are a much larger community than collectors of other animals will ever be.).
