Because the Kenner Utahraptor is larger and electronic, whereas if Mattel made one that was in the attack pack, for example, it may not sell as well due to looking like a velociraptor.

It's not just about the fans, it's also about the general consumers. For example, parents who cant tell the difference.

"Haven't you already got this one..?"

Anyone puzzled and disappointed by the apparent absence of any new sea monsters? A Kronosaurus or Pliosaurus would've made a good Massive Biter. A Dakosaurus or Geosaurus in the Savage Strike series would also be welcome. Goodness knows metriorhynchids need more representation!

I was actually thinking about those (well the pliosaurs like Kronosaurus) when I said I want more marine reptile representation, but wasn't sure if they would be too big for them to make them, so I didn't bother mentioning them then.

Well, Kronosaurus is around the same length as both Sarcosuchus and Tarbosaurus, so I figure it'd work at the Massive Biters category. Or if something smaller is needed, there's always Liopleurodon or Rhomaleosaurus.

Given how Mattel "researches" their figures, I'd fear their liopleurodon would be just another Walking With clone.

I think it goes without saying that if Mattel were to release a Utahraptor in the future, it definitely wouldn't be as an Attack Pack figure. They wouldn't do that. They have plenty of larger figure sizes (with electronics) and price points to accommodate an animal that is known for being by far the largest "raptor" dinosaur. Though the original JP figure is a bit oversized, I'd still expect to see Utahraptor in at least the "Dual Strike" size range.

I fail to see how that would be a problem, or something to fear in any way. The WWD Liopleurodon model as a good JW action figure? Sign me up. You know you'd be excited too.

Kotori_Sonoda

I'd be up for a feathered Utahraptor. While I want my JP velociraptors to look like, well, JP Raptors, any other species is fair game to have feathers on.

I like most every figure Mattel makes; but another WWD ripoff doesn't interest me. But, how much can they really mix up a pliosaur's color scheme, anyway?

Exactly my thoghts. The original Kenner toy was a larger figure.   It would be wise of them to make there version a Dual Strike/Rorivore sized figure.

Also once again.   The Kenner Utahraptor toy looked almost Exactly like the Electronic Velociraptor Toy from the same exact line, only bigger. Why Would Mattel need to do somthing diffrent with there version if they ever make one in the future?

#4 is most likely the unknown brown theropod (speculated to be Segisaurus or Coelophysis) that was revealed along with the blue Attack Pack iguanodont.

I thought that, but the curve in the tail and the short arms of the sillouhette seem off to me.

Look at what's coming for the Amber Collection next year:

I really do hope this means we'll be getting Nedry (and the JP raptor) at some point for the 3.75 inch scale as well. I am so ecstatic about that Dilophosaurus though. With how close the Legacy Collection one came, they can certainly nail the paint scheme on this larger figure, and have it film accurate. That was certainly one of what I was hoping for after getting my hands on the raptor. That basically just leaves the male TLW raptor and Stiggy for me, aside from the others confirmed already.

Edit: It is also coming to Entertainment Earth. I don't know if this means both Gamestop and EE will carry the Amber Collection, or if it is moving from Gamestop to EE. But at least with EE folks outside the US can get a chance at getting these.

yessss Im so glad the next one is a dilophosaurus figure, the current green JW dilophosaurus figures are really OOP and HTF!

Stuckasaurus (Dino Dad Reviews)

Looking at the color scheme of the Pachyrhinosaurus in the mini blind bag set, and it has me wondering if they're trying to imply a wooly coat on its back? The wooly Pachyrhinosaurus look must have achieved a serious paleoart meme status if it did indeed influence even Jurassic World.

I imagine that the Amber Collection is moving to Entertainment Earth Because gamestop is....not really in a stable place.   they have gone through several finacial issues, and are struggling to stay aflout in a age where most kids download there games from there Systems.

I was surprised that Mattel made them Gamestop Exclusive to begin with. some are saying that gamestop is not going to be here much longer.   And that may explain the Move To Entertainment Earth

Faelrin

Seems like Amazon is getting them too or at least the JP raptor and Malcolm next year. Certainly a smart move for another retailer to take them before we end up with a Destruct-A-Saur 2.0 situation. The plus side to both Amazon and EE is that international folks can order from them unlike with Gamestop I think.

I went to a Game Stop at a mall today to check if they had the raptor but they didn't have any JW figures at all. :(

PhilSauria

Unfortunately one of the outlets here in Australia that used to stock Mattel has now completely filled the shelf that it used to occupy with assorted generic and Chinasaur Dinosaur product, so Mattel in effect extinct at that outlet, while the toy departments of the major department stores that still sell Mattel continue to re-stock the same dozen or so figures. Not looking promising for any new releases going forward.

suspsy

I wonder when the remaining blacked out toys will be revealed.
