There are many wonderful paintings by Charles Knight, one in particular has a Apatosaurus in the fore-ground, with its head and neck rising out of the swampy water. It looks big and clumsy. In the back ground, grazing on the shore of this prehistoric swamp, there is a Diplodocus, painted in a boring grey color.

Europasaurus holgeri is a basal macronarian sauropod. It lived during the Late Jurassic (middle Kimmeridgian, about 154 million years ago) of northern Germany, and has been identified as an example of insular dwarfism resulting from the isolation of a sauropod population on an island within the Lower Saxony basin.

The Battat dinosaurs’ triumphant return to mass-production means that figures once unobtainable for the average collector with bills to pay and no time machine are now easily had by anyone with so much as a few spare dollars. The Ceratosaurus is no exception. Once one of the scarcest Battats, only rarely listed on eBay for exorbitant prices unbecoming of a plastic toy, this horned theropod can now be bought for $6 at your local Target store.

Rounding out my electronic Chap Mei toys is that scrappy (and in this case, rather scary) thick-headed lizard, Pachycephalosaurus!
This rather dubious-looking dinosaur measures 25 cm long and stands 17 cm tall when hunched over. The main colours are light brown and dark brown with beige accents, electric blue stripes, white teeth, and translucent orange for the eyes and the cranium.

Before I begin this review, I want to get something off my chest. In case it wasn’t already apparent, I like Schleich’s World Of History dinosaur figures. I think they are very distinctive from other brands, and I think each model has a certain charm to it.

Jurassic World featured its fair share of prehistoric creatures, and surprisingly, most of the animals that were featured in the previous three films made an appearance in some form. The only ones missing are Brachiosaurus, Mamenchisaurus, Compsognathus, Corythosaurus, and Ceratosaurus.

Review: Ichthyosaurus-Leptonectes(Stuttgart NHM, by Bullyland)

Ichthyosaurs are a well known extinct marine reptile. They first appeared in the Triassic, became very diverse by the Jurassic, and then disappeared during the Cretaceous. The ichthyosaur fossil record is well known and abundant with over 102 valid species. They have been considered a great example of convergent evolution, especially since many people compare them to dolphins and tunas.

After six years of waiting, Safari Ltd. has finally made a new sauropod for the Wild Safari Collection. Sauropods are the one thing I really wish Safari made more of, as the collection only had three of them, and they were gems among the rest of the collection.

The Japanese toy company Kaiyodo isn’t afraid to tackle the obscure and one of the best examples of this would have to be the Kaiyodo Copepteryx. While other companies make and re-make the same tired old prehistoric favorites here we have Kaiyodo making a very obscure extinct bird that you’ve probably never heard of and who’s name I can never remember (maybe writing this review will fix that).

Last year, Geoworld released their new range of ancient mammals which consist of species that were never once replicated for the prehistoric toy market, This is probably because a lot of these are basically large versions of modern day mammals, and even though they were genetically different, the general public rarely sees them as such.
