When the first wave of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom figures by Mattel came out, I, Emperor Dinobot, was highly pleased. I was so pleased, I endeavored to post the first reviews of the first wave of Roarivores here, here, and here during the summer of 2018. Wave 2 of the Roarivores offered new species and sculpts, one of them being the *sigh* Pteranodon, which once again follows the horrible Universal design. But is it a good toy? Let’s find out today!

At 8 inches long and boasting an impressive 16 inch wingspan, this figure offers plenty of play value. The toothy mouth opens and closes, the neck turns, and the wings flap while it makes several sounds. The wings also fold in towards the body for easy storage. The legs, sadly, do not move.

The sculpt is very nice, with veiny details along the wings and scales on top. The figure is coloured mostly dark forest green. The top half of the wings are brick red with brown stripes and the crest is reddish burgundy with a stripe of ochre. One can say it follows the same color palette as the top of the wings, but they are not the same. The underside is sadly all green. As all Jurassic World animals, there’s a sticker with a code under one of the wings.

This is the first main line Pteranodon in a long line is retools and repaints, which I will cover eventually. It is not a bad toy, and I appreciate that it is the original template for more figures that would come in the future. It is highly durable, swooshable, and a decent addition to any Jurassic collection, as long as you don’t mind the terrible Universal Studios design for this freak of nature.

Scanning for prey.

Speaking of scanning, don’t forget to scan it on your Jurassic World App! These are no longer being produced, but you can find this particular figure for a cheap price on eBay.
