Before we begin the review, I would like to thank the generous folks over at ToyMonster for sending me this figure to share with the blog. Today we’re looking at the second to last figure from a batch of toys that ToyMonster sent me all the way back in June 2024. This is also the last one from the Chaos Theory line (that I have). This doesn’t represent the end of the Captivz reviews for the blog though, I have plenty of others that I’ve purchased that I plan to share.

The Captivz Ceratosaurus stands 1.5” (3.81 cm) tall at the hips and measures about 4.5” (11.43 cm) along its curves. The actual Ceratosaurus is estimated to have measured between 17-20’ (5-6 meters) while the one in Jurassic Park 3 was 30’ (9 meters). Scaled down from a length of 17’ this toy comes out to be 1/45 in scale. Scaled down from 30’ and it comes out to be 1/80 in scale. Although this figure is probably meant to stand bipedally mine won’t but thanks to the downward curved tail it can be made to stand in a tripod pose.

Being one of ToyMonster’s more recent sculpts, this figure is also one of their best. The teeth are small, individually discernable, and are as precisely painted as you could reasonably expect. The face is covered in small pebbly scales while the body is mostly detailed with wrinkles and a pitted texture. Three rows of osteoderms run down from the nape to the base of the tail and a single row continues down the tail. Sagging folds of skin can be seen on the underside of the neck and along the lower sides of the torso. Four tiny fingers can be seen on each hand and the limbs possess nice muscle definition.

The toy is painted with the JP3 color scheme; tan with a red head and back, and dark brown bands running down the back and thighs. The eyes are yellow with black pupils, the nasal horn is tan, the teeth are white, and the tongue is pink. A dark wash over the body brings out the fine details. The paint application is excellent for a figure of this size and price. For Jurassic World fans or collectors of mini figures, the Captivz Ceratosaurus is well worth seeking out.
