For anyone else who ordered one, my Gennaro outhouse set has arrived. The box is really nice-- I don't think I'll be opening it. Mattel just came out with a standalone Arnold, so hopefully we'll get a Gennaro on his own sometime as well.

Heads up, one of my local Targets is putting more JW stuff on clearance, including the Hammond Collection Gallimimus and Alan Grant.

All the other wave 1 Roar Attacks had the same discount too.

What a deal.

There was a whole peg of Grants but no Gallimimus. My other local Target was the same last week. I guess that's a pretty good indication of popularity.

Every Target is different, so YMMV, but it may be worth checking out.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll take a look on the first or so of next month. Can't do it right now, with what I just paid for on my order through brettnj. Have quite a bit of catching up to do with Mattel's stuff. Might just focus on that for the rest of the year. At least it isn't a huge lot of things (mostly some sets). The most expensive to deal with will be the Dreadnoughtus though.

I'm always amazed how cheap that stuff is in the US...expect for the Minis.

Heads up for those who collect Funko Mystery Minis ( those in the US again...). Now at Five Below and not so Mystery anymore:

Yes, that's right. You can now buy the Brachio (1/36) and Stego (1/72) directly.
Jurassic Park is frightning in the dark
All the dinosaurs are running wild
Someone let T. Rex out of his pen
I'm afraid those things'll harm me
'Cause they sure don't act like Barney
And they think that I'm their dinner, not their friend
Oh no

Those must have the hardest to find, I found these non mystery boxes and there were no Stego or Brachio in two cases.

I got quite the haul last night. Three things were on sale (Dimetrodon & Grant set, HC Grant, and HC Gallimimus), with HC Grant being nearly 50% off. All were cheaper then the marked up online prices as well. Saved a good bit, and considering I only originally planned to pick up the Ceratosaurus and Triceratops at their marked up online prices, this was great.

And pics of the Target I went into last night. Check out all this stock they had! A mix of older and newer releases.

Having Dreadnaughtus in hand now, the size is quite impressive, but I'm a bit disappointed in the paint.

There's a lot of slop to it, especially in the areas where the brownish paint appears on the legs. It seems like overspray or accidental brush strokes, but it looks basically the same on the various pics I've seen.

The brown paint also doesn't quite match up along the different sections of the neck, which makes for a pretty jarring appearance.

For the cost it's hard to beat, but it's not quite as nice as the brachio or apato.

The Maisie, Beta, and Lystrosaurus set popped up in stock on Amazon for $16.99. I just ordered it through there, and canceled my EE pre-order. Saving myself nearly $10 that could go to other things. I don't usually care to order things through Amazon these days, but saving any money in this inflated economy is gonna come first.

Here's the link.

Very much looking forward to this set too, especially because of the Lystrosaurus, but I'm also planning to review it for the DTB.

I just snagged it last week, and I LOVE it! I did notice the same little brush marks, but I'm wondering if that's from the type of material and not actually paint at all. You know how all the Mattel figures have little discolored spots, splotches and marbling here and there. Probably just more noticeable on such a...large pallette.

Looking at the promo photos, it looks like there is supposed to be some brownish markings on the legs, but the way they ended up looking is far more haphazard.

The neck paint not lining up between segments is more irksome, especially because it's not even an articulated segment, so I can't tweak the pose to have it match up more.

But like I said, it's an impressive hunk of plastic, I just wish there was a little more consistency in the paint, especially since you can only buy it sight unseen.

Carnoking

It was certainly one of my biggest concerns when I first bought one. I was certain I'd pull the head piece out and the eye would be just north of where it was supposed to. Thankfully, my luck was in.

Just a heads up, looks like Hammond Collection Dilophosaurus is available again from Target.com, in stock and ready to ship for anyone who missed out on preordering.

I went through 4 cases and never found one. Kinda nuts..I really like that Brachio.

While I don't agree with Lacovara's views on sauropod posture, it's cool that Universal / Mattel sent the Dreadnoughtus figure out to the paleontologist that actually found and named the genus.

Faelrin

Wow that's an incredibly cool thing of them to do.

Picked up the Dreadnoughtus today but skipped on the Quilmesaurus and Megaraptor. I might pick them up at a later date but I don't know, I might be experiencing Mattel fatigue. Between rising prices and the rise of the Hammond Collection I'm finding myself less interested in the mainline. Unless it's something like the magnificent Dreadnoughtus, of course.

andrewsaurus rex

sorry, I've been out of the loop for a while.  Have any large sauropod figures along the lines of the big Brachiosaurus or Apatosaurus been announced by Mattel?  Perhaps a nice Diplodocus or  Mamenchisaurus?   :)
