Apologies for just bursting out of the blue after a break, but I don't think anyone has posted this yet.

Oooh, exciting! what a nice surprise after Prehistoric Planet's completion.

Dynomikegojira

Sad it's the last episode it looks amazing

Gothmog the Baryonyx

I'm looking forward to seeing another of these, a pity its a last, though I do wish that Tyrannosaurus wasn't always depicted only in the whole KPg extintinction event all the time, and could just be there.  I assume that Prehistoric Planet will finally have that and looking forward to seeing that too, not just because avoiding spoilers is getting really hard.
Megalosaurus, Iguanodon, Archaeopteryx, Cetiosaurus, Compsognathus, Hadrosaurus, Brontosaurus, Tyrannosaurus, Triceratops, Albertosaurus, Herrerasaurus, Stenonychosaurus, Deinonychus, Maiasaura, Carnotaurus, Baryonyx, Argentinosaurus, Sinosauropteryx, Microraptor, Citipati, Mei, Tianyulong, Kulindadromeus, Zhenyuanlong, Yutyrannus, Borealopelta, Caihong

An excellent end to the series. Knowing exactly how its going to end but still having such a big impact is the mark of a great storyteller. Amazing work all around but I do think this one is my favorite.

Duna

What a wonderful ending ... the music, the story, the details (as the red river) ... my favourite of the series.

I made this comment on Dead Sound's patreon when I 1st watched "The Last Tyrant":
QuoteGood finale! I especially like the new animations of characters from previous episodes. Knowing that said characters continued living their lives after said episodes (+ the museum scenes) helps the ending feel more uplifting. Also, you could've easily reused old animations, but chose to go the extra mile & give us something extra special. I respect that :)

Just rewatched the entire series and all I can say is, wow... what an achievement. It was all so beautifully done! Dead Sound should be proud.

When I saw that it would be about the extinction I was a bit bummed, because the extinction of the non-avian dinosaurs is one of the things about dinosaurs that interests me the least, and I'm sick of seeing it in media. I was so happy that Prehistoric Planet didn't address it.

That having been said, this handled the extinction event in a touching and moving way that I've never seen before. It was absolutely heartbreaking and beautiful. And I loved how it tied the modern world with the world that ended 65 million years ago, with shots of birds, fossils, GWANGI, etc. That connection took this short film to a whole other level.

Can't help noticing the sketchbook has Volume #1 for this series.
Perhaps David is leaving the door open for a potential follow-up?

Quote from: HD-man on October 13, 2021, 01:28:29 AMAs previously mentioned, I think David's being too hard on himself when he refers to certain aspects as "inaccuracies" just b/c they're unknown. In this case:
-In reference to the "level of snowfall", I didn't interpret "Frozen Past" as "a permanent snowy frozen wasteland" (E.g. AFAICT, the snow isn't even ankle deep to the bigger dinos), but as "similar to[...]modern Britain, New York or northern Japan" (which, according to Darren Naish, is what "data from several parts of the Mesozoic world indicate"). I've never been to his real-life inspiration of Scotland, but based on this video, its winter doesn't look too different IMO.
-In reference to Nanuqsaurus, you could speculate that their coats changed colors w/the seasons like those of ptarmigans.
-In reference to Troodon, I agree that mimicry seems unlikely (though not impossible, given how little we still know about non-bird dino soft tissue), but you could argue that "subtly modify[ing] their behavior depending on who is present" was within their abilities based on similarly-intelligent birds. I'm specifically thinking of chickens ( https://backyardpoultry.iamcountryside.com/chickens-101/are-chickens-smart/ ).

Sorry for the late comment, but I recently posted this video elsewhere ( https://dinotoyblog.com/forum/index.php?topic=11253.msg388667#msg388667 ) & only just realized that it plays out very similarly to "Our Frozen Past". Silly me for not realizing that in October 2021 :P :

Especially exciting for me to see some plesiobobs making an appearance. :o

Thank you for the comments. I've been working very hard on this series ever since Volume 1 finished up, and I'm really glad people are excited for Volume 2! :D I'm super proud of it so far. It's like twice the size of Volume 1 in terms of ambition, scope, and even length. These films are going to be an average of 10+ minutes each I think.

avatar_DinoToyForum @DinoToyForum I'm genuinely intimidated by what you may say in regard to accuracy when it comes to said plesiobobs! XD I'm relatively knowledgeable when it comes to dinosaurs, but I'm still learning about pliosaurs and plesiosaurs.

avatar_Carnoking @Carnoking I actually used to binge your dinosaur toy reviews while working on Volume 1 years ago, so it's really nice to see you're a fan of the series! ^_^

DefinitelyNOTDilo

Looks incredible, I can't wait! I'm particularly excited for the Kayenta segment lol.

Gwangi

Is that Scutellosaurus that I see?  *-*  One of my favorite dinosaurs and one I desperately want a figure of. Not holding my breath though.

I thought Dinosauria was a one-and-done project and I'm thrilled to see we'll be getting more. This is some of the best dinosaur media around, as far as I'm concerned. Getting more of Dinosauria is just as exciting as getting more Walking With Dinosaurs, maybe even more so.
