I'm just happy that the figure is ~1/40 scale, interesting sculpt, will probably pick this one up eventually.
Do you mean the new Carcharodontosaurus?
Because Ichthyovenator is in the not to scale series.

I've updated the first post with the larger versions of the images.  :)

Nope, I mean the Ichty--if the figure is 22cm, and the actual animal was about 9 meters, that comes out to 1/40.9 scale. The animal was small enough where even a standard figure is 1/40 scale.

Seijun

The Ichty looks nice, the only thing I noticed (from that angle) is that the knees look oddly strait. I dont think such a large theropod could attain such a posture in real life without falling over!
My living room smells like old plastic dinosaur toys... Better than air freshener!

Does anybody have information on body size or weight of Ichthyovenator?  We are going to write a fact sheet on this dinosaur when the model comes out in the spring, we did some research a while back and reviewed the 2012 papers etc.  Best estimate of body length from the post cranial fossil material described was between 7 and 9.5 metres but no data available on whether specimen represented an adult or an immature individual - without the skull and with no limb bones it might be a bit difficult to work out.  As for body weight we were working on an assumption of around 1.25 Tonnes to 2 Tonnes or thereabouts.

Ikessauro

A base is a great ideia, although they better do a removable one. I think permanent bases are kind of a problem when you wanna do a diorama with the model.

Hello,
I've been searching for Ichthyovenator info in the internet and here are some facts I've found that might help you.Ichthyovenator,as being known for very few fragmentary remains,it's mainly based on some relatives facts. It's estimated to be 2.50 meters tall, more or less. This dinosaur might have a similar height to its relative Baryonyx, and it was smaller than the colossal Spinosaurus. And in terms of lenght ,is,unknown yet,but ,as you said, estimated between7 and 9.5 meters. The size is also a bit if soeculation, but ,fortunately, there are well known spinosaurids(such like Spinosaurus,Suchommus, etc)that can help us describing the dinosaur. Its relatively light constitution would guve it an aproximately weight of 2 tonnes, more or less.Hope this info helps  :)

We can now reveal that wishes for a new Spinosaurid have been listened to.  Collecta have pushed the boat out a bit with the inclusion of Ichthyvenator from Laos into their prehistoric life model range.  See picture on Everything Dinosaur's Facebook page: Ichthyvenator on Everything Dinosaur's Facebook page

Yes, looks pretty neat! Certainly an unusual choice, one to add to the unique species list I think?

Looks like! Adding. :)

Very intriguing sculpt. This species is new to me. It kinda feels like an unfinished Spinosaurus, but I like it. Kudos to Collecta for taking chances with weirdo species like this! :)

Sorry, but this Ichtyovenator is not very good imo. It somehow looks unfinished to me.

The model will have a base ,as ED said on the blog.

One thing I wanted to ask.  What's with that gap in the spines

Another strange dinosaur of Collecta. One point more to this brand  ^-^.
[Off Nick and Eddie's reactions to the dinosaurs] Oh yeah "Ooh, aah", that's how it always starts. But then there's running and screaming.

{about the T-Rex) When he sees us with his kid isn't he gonna be like "you"!?

Yeah, the knees should be bent, and the middle of the stomach should stick out more ... the arms also look a little too thin to me ... didn't want to say it before seeing more photos, but based on this one photo those are my thoughts at the moment ...

I'm actually satisfied with the arms, but the legs and belly could use some retooling. The legs look too straight.

It's present in the actual fossil. Because of that, it's thought that Icthyovenator had two sails.

I really like this model. How many spinosaurids with fish have we seen aside from at least two versions of Baryonyx?

There is also the Spinosaurus-eating-Mawsonia from Takara.

I just wish they would make the fish fully sculpted and removable (like the Bullyland Flying Pteranodon that came with a small shark-like fish for its prey. A small, German, non-dinosaur, marine animal figure that isn't in production any longer...).

My 2014 purchase list:

Carcharodontosaurus: Yes
Dead Stegosaurus: Nope
Ichty: Nope

I hope something better comes along :/ They'll be revealing another figure next Friday, right?

I guess I'm just not one of those people who picks up a model just because it's an unusual or new species, or happens to be the only depiction of the species available. I care more about the quality of the sculpting, I suppose.

Blade-of-the-Moon

So far as CollectA goes I'm currently getting all three of them.  :)

Concavenator

My 2014 "to get"list:
Carcharodontosaurys Deluxe:Yes
Dead Stego:if they release a Jurassic carnivore to fit in,maybe yes.
Ichthyovenator:yes
I love this Ichthyovenator.Hopefully we'll see soon how it looks with the base.
