After a bit of a collection purge on my end, I decided to pick up my first "high-end" 12" figures.

R2-D2 from Sideshow Collectibles:

And some old Monty Python and the Holy Grail figures from 2002, back when Sideshow Collectibles was "Sideshow Toy."

Eric Idle as "The Dead Collector" and John Cleese as "The Black Knight"

I picked up more Safari Ltd fantasy figures today and a few extant theropods. I even bought two (Tabby Cat and Unicorn Baby) for my 4 year old twin nieces. I felt kind of bad that I keep spoiling myself, but haven't gotten anything for them yet. Well I'm glad I finally did. Their reaction was totally worth it.

So that aside, for the growing fantasy collection I got myself the Griffin and Sea Dragon, and I also picked up a Bald Eagle and Turkey today. Last weekend I added the Chimera and Hydra to my collection as well. I really need to get a pic of all these together now (tomorrow when I have light). There's really only a few of the fantasy creatures I'd like to add to my collection at this point.

Edit: A bit late, but here's the pic:

I purchased a set of the Sisters of Slaughter by GW. Here is one of them that I assembled.

I'm not into the game, but I pick up things sometimes. I also am bidding on a 40k Sisters Of Battle Living Saint Celestine & Geminae on eBay, because the Sisters of Battle are soooo cool (even though I'm not into 40k but prefer WH Fantasy).

sauroid

got these Lanard Kong: SI monster figures. didnt bother with the two vehicles and theyve ran out of the huge Kong figure.

"you know you have a lot of prehistoric figures if you have at least twenty items per page of the prehistoric/dinosaur section on ebay." - anon.

Neat stuff sauroid!
I've picked up a few things over the past month or so, this is an oddly Disney-heavy haul, so yeah....

Least interesting is this Treasure Planet Blu-ray, it's an underrated and pretty forgotten flick, but it's probably my favorite Disney movie too:

My first Hot Toys figure the First Order Stormtrooper, he's beautiful and love the character's design:

I also went to Disneyland for my birthday, stayed from opening to close; so if ankle pain is a collectible, I got that too. We ate at Ariel's Grotto for the last time, and got a pretty great pictue with one of those disgusting Country Bears.
They had these AT-AT popcorn carriers in the increasingly pathetic Tomorrowland, and it's pretty awesome, quite possible too:

Finally, my good woman companion got me a shirt from my favorite attraction ever, The Haunted Mansion! The shirt's great, so yeah...

Looks a bit like the Batman logo, doesn't it?

I would love to pick up the set with the Skullcrawler, but sadly those are not sold here in Germany. And online prices are terribly inflated.
Jurassic Park is frightning in the dark
All the dinosaurs are running wild
Someone let T. Rex out of his pen
I'm afraid those things'll harm me
'Cause they sure don't act like Barney
And they think that I'm their dinner, not their friend
Oh no

I can get the sets pictured there at one of my workplaces, for whatever retail price is and send it if that helps at all....they seem to have a decent stock of the things.

Got this big thing in the other day:

Nice one :)... you got that via ebay? Cause I still got no notification from Lego via the VIP system.... almost 3 months and still "available soon". Have fun building that monster.

Well i heard that smaller sets(with some really steep prices) can take only three days to complete.   I imagine this one will take a week or more. depending on how often one commits themselves to building it.

Yeah, it'd probably take that long.  I have a running joke with a friend who purchased the same set.  'Been saying I'd help him build it since it's been stuck in the box for a while now and he just keeps staring at it, saying "I'll start later".

Nope, got it via the Lego site, same VIP-system. It was very briefly available mid-december but sold out again in like an hour or so. I just got the buy-it-now! notification just in time. :)

It's gonna take me weeks. There's seventeen steps and I'm now at step 5 (and already it's humongous and heavy). I do one step a day on my days off, but I sadly don't have much of those...

No dinosaur today, but some stuff from AliExpress arrived! This was a bit of an experimental order, both in terms of testing out AliExpress and also this particular item.

This small pompano is marketed as fake food, but given the variety of fish available at pretty good prices for their size I had to give it a shot. In a lot of ways it more than exceeds my expectations, the detail is better than the pictures show (I think it's almost certainly cast from a real fish), unfortunately it seems to be very fragile. I'm not about to cut it open and find out but I think it might literally be a sponge coated in plastic, as opposed to plastic stuffed with sponge, sounds like a subtle difference on paper but it's drastic in practice.

Overall I guess it's a failed experiment, but I'm glad I took the risk and found out (also glad I ordered just one as a test). If I ever want any large fish for a diorama or display these are definitely going to be put into consideration, but as figures they are just to fragile. The material reminds me of "stress-ball" animals that are often given out with promotional logos on them.

Halichoeres

So I guess these are for low-rent window displays in restaurants and shops? I admit I've been tempted by them myself, but they don't make the kinds of fish that would most interest me. Thankfully, I guess!

My first purchase from a major toy company that's not dinosaur or prehistoric, the safari whales toob for last year. Whales are, together with elephants, my favorite animals.

Apologies for the messy desk. Bought my first MH Figure Builder today at a convention. Yian Garuga wasn't my first choice from the set but I'm very pleased regardless.

Kaiyodo Sofubi Toybox Tsuchinoko arrived today. Absolutely in love with this adorable little snake. The detail is incredible and the articulation is just so much fun.

I'm not a huge horror fan in general, but Higurashi was a borderline formative franchise for me and I will always adore it. So I couldn't pass on Sonozaki Mion when she came in at work.

She's no Figma sadly (or thankfully, for my wallet), but has a decent amount of different parts and such.

I actually haven't played a Halo game since I was very young (no PC release tends to illicit this response from me ;) ), but I thought this robot stag beetle cat was just to interesting to pass up.
