I kind of like the Suchomimus. I mean it is the very first Jurassic toy of this genus, and quite possibly the first to have articulation. The coloration isn't too far off from how it looked for the Jurassic World site (and in turn JW Evolution), minus the sail of course. I don't know if I'll get it just yet, but maybe. I have other things from Wave 2 that I'm prioritizing though.

Why.... Why did they have to give Suchomimus that goofy sail  :'( Totally ruins the figure.
Whoever approved this must have been drunk.
It also seems to suffers from the same issues that plagues the Allosaurus, short tail, goofy teeth, oversized head etc

Dilopho

Honestly, I'm digging the sail. I love it when JP plays around with the idea of dinosaurs having features we'd never know about- such as Dilophosaurus having a frill and venom, and Deinonychus having a comb like a rooster.

The sail, for me, is great because it gives the Suchomimus some classic Jurassic Park character. Maybe it's some sort of keratin supported sail, that wouldn't fossilise in time before rotting.  :))

As for the Allosaurus, that one does look unusual but:

  • It's not like the Kenner figures did it much better; I mean, their Velociraptor has wicked teeth. Green teeth, too, for some reason.
  • I ..kind of like the tail. It's pretty easy to hold the figure by the tail, and it reminds me of the juvenile in the movie.

I actually found myself doodling it while I was at college the other week  ^-^
It's not an accurate proportioned Sucho by any means, lol. It was just an absentminded doodle.

Flaffy

There's a difference between making an iconic and impactful design (JP Dilo), and making something different just for the sake of it, with no regard on whether it even looks good or not (Mattel Sucho, Frontier Deinonychus)
IF it's executed nicely, it will, like you said give the Dino character and flare. But when it's executed poorly, it just looks out of place and plain right wrong. I can't take that fish sail seriously, especially with all the seams that breaks the illusion of a complete sail (4 seams)

Regarding the allo: comparing something to previous flawed attempts does not make the figure in question look any better. At the very least the Kenner JP raptor got basic anatomy somewhat right... I don't see how a longer tail would be harder to hold, but that's just me, maybe other ppl have different issues/preferences.

Also nice drawing!  ^-^

If the game proves popular, mayhaps Mattel could reach into Evolution for designs during the years between films: those Cystoni designs would make beautiful figures.
From what I've seen(haven't gotten it myself yet), the Allosaurus from the Fallen Kingdom DLC pack looks different from the figure.

The game's Allosaurus looks more like the one from the movie, with a narrow snout and pointed crests.

Considering the movie's Allosaurus was a juvenile, the mattel figure could have been designed from the adult design.
like a bantha!

I didn't knew the Allo in the movie was a juvenile, it looks similar to the adult ones from Jurassic World Evolution, maybe a bit thinner.

Oh, I meant the thin-ness of it. It fits in your hand nicely.

While the sail is definitely off putting, I can´t help myself but liking this Suchomimus. But yes, if I had the ability to customize figures I would definitely do something to that sail.

Loon

It may not be too hard to just slice the fin off, it may no be the prettiest solution but it could look decent.

Dilopho

It'd look fab if it was a bit shorter like in my drawing.  ^-^
It'd be like the middle ground between Baryonyx and Spinosaurus.

Edit: Was just checking brickseek again and I found a Battle Damage Plesiosaurus. No pics yet though. There was also some other unnamed Battle Damage figures (with no pics either).

Does anyone think the Wave 2 Attack Pack Velociraptor might actually be based on this one?:

Nothing too spoilery, but it does come from Fallen Kingdom:

Spoiler

I know that the Attack Pack Dilophosaurus is based on that one there. It would be pretty cool to have both together to recreate a diorama scene much like the one there, with them.

Also there's now images of the Battle Damage Manor Set (putting it in a spoiler since it does contain key elements at the end of the film):

Now I already have a Battle Damage Blue, and an Indoraptor, but I'm tempted to pick this one up just because of the skull. Of course it depends on how much it costs, since I already do have those figures above (even if this Indoraptor is unique because of having the Battle Damage feature on it). I only wish the skull piece was bigger (although these images might not be the best for accurate scale comparisons either). Would also explain why Maisie's set did not come with this skull (although the T. rex skull is still neat).

Is it just me or does the head sculpt look A LOT better than the regular articulated Indoraptor

MLMjp

To me it sure looks like the source of inspiration of that orange raptor, if only there was a Concavenator also....

About that Loockwood set... So are you telling me that I can get the Battle damage blue, plus a retool of the regular Indoraptor now with battle damage and a better head sculpt, plus
Spoiler
that weird Triceratops skull to recreate the Indoraptor´s death?

Suddenly not having bought any Indoraptor and Blue figures yet does not seem like a problem at all. ;D

avatar_Faelrin @Faelrin where do you found the images of that set?

I would definitely like to see what this looks like. Hope some photos of it surface soon.

I never considered that but it's possible.

To me it looked like it was trying to be the Dino Screams raptor but your observation seems more likely.

avatar_MLMjp @MLMjp I got the images off of JPToys, which is like my major source of info right now for most of everything.

avatar_Cretaceous Crab @LeviRawl I sure hope some pics surface soon too, since it would be the first (I think) Plesiosaurus in any JP/JW line. It would be really nice to give my Mosasaurus a 'friend'.

avatar_Pachyrhinosaurus @Pachyrhinosaurus Yeah I was reminded of that Kenner raptor when I first saw pics of that Wave 2 Attack Pack one. Hmm.
