In 1965, during part of a Polish-Mongolian expedition, a pair of giant enigmatic arms were discovered. The owner of these arms was then deemed Deinocheirus, meaning “terrible hand.” It wouldn’t be until 2014, nearly 50 years after the “terrible hand” was initially discovered when new, more complete material was described, showing the species was stranger than what had previously been envisioned for it.
Coming up with something to review for Jurassic Park’s much hyped 30th anniversary was no easy task, simply because we’ve been reviewing Jurassic Park toys on this blog steadily for the last five years, thanks to Mattel. What could we possibly feature on the blog that would live up to the grandeur of toys like the Legacy Brachiosaurus and Hammond Collection T.
It is quite refreshing to finally review a 1/18 scale dinosaur from Beasts of the Mesozoic that is not a ceratopsian. It is also refreshing to not have to write a review of a Mattel dinosaur or a pterosaur either. The BOTM Tyrannosaur series has arrived, and I, Emperor Dinobot, am excited beyond belief.
June’s been quite the month for reveals thus far and this latest one is literally the biggest yet: Mattel’s Hammond Collection Brachiosaurus. It looks to be the most poseable sauropod toy ever made, complete with a bendable neck and the (inaccurate) ability to rear up on its hind legs.
Move over, PNSO, because two new dinosaurs from Haolonggood have been revealed! First up is the Early Cretaceous stegosaur, Wuerhosaurus, in two distinct colour schemes. Both look attractive and realistic, and the sculpting is impressive, particularly the ragged edges on the plates.
Wow, that sure came along fast! PNSO’s theropod rush continues with Keynes the Lythronax, another tyrannosaurid and a species with few toys to its name.
“Greetings and salutations once again, fellow dinosaur lovers! It is I, the one and only Dr. Bella Bricking, along with my trusty and ever-faithful companion, Beth Buildit! And today is a truly momentous occasion, is it not?”
“Yup, sure is, Doc. Exactly 30 years ago, a certain little movie called Jurassic Park opened in theatres worldwide and basically blew up right from the get-go.
The capacious carnivores continue to come! Feast your eyes on Cole, PNSO’s dangerous Daspletosaurus, complete with chomping jaws and relatively large forelimbs!

Oh boy, I can’t believe I’m writing a review of the legendary Toyway Ornithocheirus for the Dinosaur Toy Blog. It was thanks to the DTF that I first became aware of this figure some 13 years ago.
Before we begin the review, I would like to thank Happy Hen Toys for sending this figure along as a review sample. Happy Hen Toys is a U.S. distributor of animal figures, including some that are otherwise hard to come by in the United States.
This year marks the 30th anniversary of Jurassic Park, but Mattel is also making sure to give The Lost World some love by way of the newly revealed Tyrannosaurus rex Ambush Pack, part of the Legacy Collection.
Following up on last year’s Tyrannocon Rex vs JP93 set, Hasbro has revealed a second Jurassic Park-inspired Transformers Collaborative two-pack. Behold the vicious Decepticon Dilophocon vs the mighty (or perhaps not so much) Autobot JP12!
As you can see, Dilophocon transforms from a venom-spitting, frilled Dilophosaurus to a robot warrior armed with a heavy laser blaster.
