With only two weeks left for the Beasts of the Mesozoic ceratopsian series campaign (as of this writing), it’s about time I got to writing perhaps the last of my reviews of these figures. either until I acquire more of the raptors or until I can get my hands on the ceratopsians.

Hello, my fellow dinosaur collectors! Today we shall be looking at the Beasts of the Mesozoic Adasaurus mongoliensis, aka the evil spirit lizard from Mongolia! If you are reading this, you probably already know the whole story behind Creative Beast Studios and the production of this exciting line of figures.

Review: Albertaceratops nesmoi by Beasts of the Mesozoic from Creative Beast Studios

At this point in my life, my reviews are all going to be somewhat personal. As collectors, we tend to form serious attachments to our toys or figures, as they often serve as memory capsules. They remind us of things such as a fun event that led to their discovery, a trip where a collector bought a figure at a gift shop, a gift given to a collector for their birthday, or by a special someone that may or may not be with them anymore, etc.

Review: Balaur (Beasts of the Mesozoic: Raptor Series by Creative Beast Studio)

4.8 (49 votes)

An unfortunate case of science outpacing merchandise, this highly-detailed and articulated dino-bird still has many merits.

Balaur bondoc is a good example of how quickly scientific understanding can change, as well as how risky reconstructions from partial fossil remains can be. Discovered in 2009 on Hateg Island in Romania, the “stocky dragon” was initially described as a robust dromaeosaurid with double sickle claws.

It has been quite some time since I last reviewed something from the Beasts of the Mesozoic Raptor Series, having been caught up with Mattel’s Jurassic World figures. But with the next Beasts of the Mesozoic Kickstarter campaign only a few months away, it is time I come back and give some much needed attention to this precious line of highly articulated, highly detailed, and mostly scientifically accurate figures.

Review: Centrosaurus apertus (Beasts of the Mesozoic)

4.7 (52 votes)

Over the years, despite having a large amount of fossil material behind it, Centrosaurus has very little in terms of figures that aren’t named Monoclonius. Fortunately, recent times have brought this near forgotten species to the forefront. Beasts of the Mesozoic leads this by creating three, two juveniles and an adult.

Review: Centrosaurus apertus (juvenile) (Beasts of the Mesozoic Ceratopsian series)

The release of the ceratopsian line by David Silva meant a chance to get animals that are rarely made by toy companies, at least under modern names and details. I was pleased with the number of rare or even unique species, most of all Centrosaurus, which I ended up getting from the kickstarter.

If David Silva of Creative Beast Studio could be summed up in a single word, I think that word would be “ambitious.” In addition to his ongoing Beasts of the Mesozoic and Cyberzoic series, he has made the following announcement:

Toy manufacturers don’t think that people are interested in scientific accuracy, but Eons and Creative Beast Studio know otherwise!

Extending the deadline to October 10 proved to be a smart move, as the campaign has now surpassed its $185,000 USD minimum goal. The 1/18 scale woolly mammoth adult and calf and the 1/35 scale adult toys will become reality. This is excellent news indeed!

However, with less than 48 hours to go, it is practically a given that none of the stretch goals will be met.

Good news for those hoping to own an articulated 1/18 scale woolly mammoth figure: the campaign is presently at $176,643 USD, meaning just $8,357 is required for it to succeed!

The bad news is that the extended deadline is fast approaching. Collectors only have until October 10 to help make these magnificent mammoths a reality!
