Greetings DinoWaurriors! In spite of all the giant Theropods discovered over the years, I like that Allosaurus can still garner s decent amount of attention from both dino experts and the general public. As one of the major carnivores of the Jurassic (only really beaten by related Saurophaganax during it’s time), it truly earns it’s reputation. Naturally, such a beloved beast was included in the DinoWaurs line. The question is, is it any good?
The figure holds a decent pose, as if stalking or staring down an opponent (a great pose if you have two). We have a light grey all over with shading, though this figure suffers from paint gathering in the under arms, just above the elbows, which seems sloppy. It is small, as with the rest, a mere 2.9″ long and 1.4″ high. This shows how the uniformity of blind bags suffer, as if there was just a little more variation, it would fit better with figures like Brachiosaurus and Ceratosaurus from this line.
To accuracy. While everything seems nearly right, a few things are off. The skull looks ok, but things like the crest seem a tad small, plus rather shrink wrapped. The tail is too short and the hands, once again, are pronated. The rest of the figure seems right, but misses the features that make it an Allosaurus, turning this different lizard into a more generic Theropod.
Despite my love for Allosaurus, I don’t feel I can recommend this figure. for the dino lover pushed for space, it may be quite a catch, otherwise, it can be skipped.
