Brand: Jurassic World Legacy Collection

Review: Triceratops (Jurassic World Legacy Collection, Reimagined Real Feel by Mattel)

With the Duel Attack, Hammond Collection, and Habitat Defender Triceratops toys all in my collection I didn’t think I would ever add another Mattel Trike to my shelves, but then Mattel went and made one with rubber skin! I resisted it for as long as I could, but when it inevitably went on sale, I caved, so here I am reviewing my fourth Jurassic World Triceratops and, oddly enough, this is my fourth Triceratops review since December!

Review: Diplodocus (Jurassic World, Legacy Collection by Mattel)

It has gotten to the point where I wince a little whenever Mattel announces a new giant sauropod toy. It wasn’t that long ago that the Legacy Brachiosaurus was released, and I naively thought that such an enormous toy was a one-off release.

Review: Carnotaurus (Roarin’ Real Feel, Jurassic World Legacy Collection Reimagined by Mattel)

In 1994 Kenner released the first ever toy of Carnotaurus under their Jurassic Park line. Although now one of the most popular theropods, Carnotaurus had only been described 9 years prior to the release of the Kenner toy.

Review: Mamenchisaurus (Jurassic World, Legacy Collection by Mattel)

Mattel’s previous large sauropods made sense. Brachiosaurus, Apatosaurus, and Dreadnoughtus all had significant screen time in the Jurassic franchise. And even though Mattel dutifully, and shockingly, made toys of them all, fans wanted more.

It has now been two years since Mattel released their Legacy Collection Brachiosaurus, a highly anticipated toy that fans had been pining for since 1993. During much of that time between then and now people had wondered, “will we get an Apatosaurus too?

It’s, it’s a dinosaur”, these were the first words uttered in Jurassic Park upon seeing the first full sized dinosaur in the film, a Brachiosaurus. We see our protagonist’s reactions first and their acting sets the tone.

I ended up picking up this Legacy Collection 6 pack during the 2018 holiday season while it was on clearance at Target, after waiting most of the year being indecisive about it. I’ve decided it’s definitely a nice little set of figures, even if most are repaints.

It has been 17 years since Jurassic Park III first came out, and with it, the controversial Spinosaurus. It was quite a surprise when it was first revealed that Mattel was going to be releasing one as part of the Legacy Collection.
