The idea of blind bags and boxes to distribute toys is not a new idea. For years, many companies and toy lines have done this, and dinosaurs are not an unknown feature of these blind grabs. This includes the DinoWaurs trading figure line, with the idea being that kids and collectors will trade duplicates with each other and battle using the cards provided with the figures. Today we look at their take on the famed Triceratops.

These are very small figures, but that is to be expected from a blind bag figure. This one measures 2.9” long and 1.4” high, more in line with lines like Kaiyodo in terms of scale. The pose is very dynamic, an animal ready for battle, which makes sense in a line that was meant as a battling game. The colour schemes for all DinoWaurs figures are incredibly simple. They usually have a uniform colour save for the mouth and eyes, along with some shading for folds in the skin. The Triceratops is a green colour all over, which is dull, but works for an herbivore. It is a well-moulded figure comprised of reasonable flexible plastic that shouldn’t cause damage to kids.

On to accuracy. On a cheap, small figure, you might think that accuracy would be low. However, there isn’t too much to complain about here. Limbs are the correct length, digits have the correct number, the tail doesn’t lag at all, and the skull is the correct size. However, the crinkled frill is very odd, as is the slightly shrink-wrapped face, exposing too much of the skull. Otherwise, not bad.

This is a pretty good figure, all things considered. Small with a few inaccuracies, but with its own charm. These blind bags are fairly cheap to get, but the problem with getting the one you want is always the element of chance. If you want this figure in particular, best to try DeJankins or eBay. Otherwise, just have to try the old-fashioned way. Best of luck!
