Today we will be taking a look at a new Jurassic World line which I believe has not yet been covered on the blog, as well as a new type of figure, which is an articulated stop motion type. The line is called “WOW! STUFF,” which I did not know about previously until I came across their offerings at one of my local toy shops. Among their merchandise are three stop-motion articulated figures for their Movie Mates line: the T. rex, Velociraptor “Blue” and Giganotosaurus. Here we will take a look at the “Blue” figure.

First, let’s take a brief look at the packaging. The back of the box has a QR code for you to scan in order to download the Movie Mates app.

The contents include the stop-motion Blue figure with an animation rig, one hexagonal base, one phone stand, one FX green screen, and an instruction manual. The figure is attached to the animation rig and in the hexagonal base, there is a hole in which you must insert the rig. The Blue figure has over ten points of articulation, including the head, lower jaw, neck, arms, thighs, legs, and tail, making a wide range of poses possible.

The overall paint work and sculpt are borderline basic, but screen accurate. Beginning with the paint work, the eyes are painted yellow with black pupils. There is a pinkish tone for the tongue and a purplish tone for the inside of the mouth. The teeth are yellowish white and very small, but meticulously painted. The body is light gray with the characteristic blue stripe on either side. On one side, the stripe starts from the neck and on the other side, it starts from the eye. The claws are painted a darker shade of gray. The sculpt is admittedly quite close to its screen counterpart, with somewhat muted detailing. However, the legs are wrongly placed: the left leg is on the right side and the right leg is on the left. As a result, the toes are mismatched. The photo on the packaging shows correct toes, so I guess this is a quality control issue. This is the only nitpick for me about this figure. As for the measurements, when connected to the base and with the body extended, it measures about a little over 5.5 inches long and 2.75 inches tall.

After you have followed the instructions for downloading and setting up the app, you can set up your FX green screen and place Blue on the base against the screen. Once the app is working, the animation rig and the base will disappear on your screen, leaving only Blue. Then you can pose her figure however you like and use the camera to take stop-motion pictures. After you’re done, you may view your animation. You can also apply stickers and sounds as well.

So, what is my overall impression? It is quite a cool and unique type of Jurassic World merch. I think that Wow! Stuff has done an excellent job andI highly recommend it to fans, as it will be a unique piece of merchandise in their collection. You can try finding it on online sources or at one of your local stores.
