This little critter from HLG via Lana arrived in the mail yesterday. For such a small figure, it is rich in detail. The HLG Kosmoceratops:

A comparison with PNSO's mini version, now a subadult in my display:

Finally got my package from Safari Ltd, from the last minute sale they had. Got the Shingrasaurus, Uintatherium, and Diabloceratops. I had also ordered the Psittacosaurus, but it had gone out of stock, and Safari Ltd refunded me, and sent me a 15% discount for other products.

Well for starters the package had no packaging in it. A rather large box, with just three small figures. That's not good, honestly. Even the orange paper stuff from the past was better then just straight up nothing. As expected one of them suffered scuffs as a result, and it was the Diabloceratops. The last time I received a ceratopsian with scuffs was the Styracosaurus a few years back. Another thing of issue was the fact they sent me someone else's receipt. Tagging S @Shane just in case. Should I message you about that?

Here's the Diabloceratops with the scuffed horns (and slightly misprinted frill spots):

Shringasaurus is great. I'll need to get a comparison with the Mattel one later. It's nice to have two figures of this figure, but it is weird both are kind of yellow, lol.

And lastly the Uintatherium, a great addition to my mammal collection. Just need the Macrauchenia:

avatar_Faelrin @Faelrin, I think the Diabloceratops isn't scuffed, it just comes painted like that.  My Safari Diabloceratops also came like that and there was protection in the box.  I also saw avatar_Concavenator @Concavenator's Safari Diabloceratops is like that.

Faelrin

avatar_Sim @Sim I hope you are right, especially since it's prominently effecting that one horn, and the tip of another. I hope you are right that it isn't damaged, but just somewhat poorly painted in that regard. Plus all my other figures are fine, but well I have received scuffed figures from them in the past (Styracosaurus, etc).

Thankfully though I suppose I could just repaint it. Anyone have any suggestions on what color to use? Could be ways off before I could get to it though.

Every package I've ever ordered directly from Safari had no packing material in it. The figures were protected by nothing more than the plastic bags and bases they're encased in. I've come out pretty lucky so far but I don't like it.

Dusty Wren

Glad to hear it wasn't just me. I had to stop ordering from Safari because the figures shipped with absolutely no packing material. I get my Safari figures from Happy Hen Toys now, since they package things very carefully.
Check out my customs thread!

avatar_Gwangi @Gwangi Years back I remember getting the orange wrapping paper in the packages. Last package I ordered from Safari (before this one) was in 2021, and I don't remember if they had the paper in it or not then, but for a good while they used too. Absolutely unfortunate they have stopped doing that. Most of my Safari Ltd figures have come from them (through sales, but still), and sometimes Dejankins. Dejankins I'd be tempted to go to more often since they pack things so good there, despite Safari Ltd having some great sales. Happy Hen Toys is also on my list, since they pack good as well.

You convinced me. I ordered it off of Amazon. They're on sale for $5.99 USD so I had to.

Faelrin

avatar_Primeval12 @Primeval12 I regret I didn't get the chance to get it years ago. It is such a beauty in hand. Also my hands are child sized, so I wouldn't say it is a big figure, but aside from the Macrauchenia, it was one of the last of the 2018 mammals I've been behind on.

Congrats! The Uintatherium is a gem, a shame the sales didn't justify continued production. Macrauchenia on the other hand I'm still on the fence. It's basically a carbon copy of the WWB's trunked design, which we now know is quite unlikely.

Just arrived today!

New year, New prints to paint! Saved up some christmas money to get these. A 1:35 scaled hesperornis and Pteranodon set and 1:35 scaled Camptosaurus.

Quote from: Primeval12 on December 15, 2023, 01:51:44 AMNimona (from the 2023 movie of the same name) shape-shifted into an Austroraptor. This is the same Austroraptor found here (https://www.printables.com/model/397237-austroraptor-figurine/comments) painted by me to be Nimona. I absolutely loved the movie and wanted to have a physical object to represent it in my collection.

This may be my favorite repaint that I've done. Not only because I loved the movie but because of the shading and such.

I more or less based the colors off of her in her bird form but I took some liberties with the detailing.

Nice work! I haven't seen the movie but looks like you nailed it.
In the kingdom of the blind, better take public transit. Well, in the kingdom of the sighted, too, really--almost everyone is a terrible driver.

That's so dang cute. I love it. I want one now. It reminds me so much of the adorable JWE2 Jeholopterus, or Ark Sinomacrops (which yes I know are both related). I really wish there were figures of these guys out there. I need some in my collection. Life size is all the better.

TooOldForDinosaurs

#5357
It's been a while since I posted any updates on my collection. Been busy with work but I've still scored some incredible finds (besides the usual PNSO additions). So heres a quick update on new additions. As soon as I have some good lighting again to take individual pictures I'll do so.

4 new additions: PNSOs Samuel the Alamosaurus and Zuul, the fantastic Favorite Diorama "Decisive battle" and the cherry on top of all - a factory sealed Toyway Ophthalmosaurus...  8) Suuuuper stoked about these new family members!

The crown jewel in all it's glory with the rest of the squad:

SidB

Well done on all of these, avatar_TooOldForDinosaurs @TooOldForDinosaurs , especially the Favorite acquisition. Very unique classic, must have been an exciting pursuit to acquire!

Concavenator

Congrats everyone!

avatar_TooOldForDinosaurs @TooOldForDinosaurs Is it true you own 80 % of the total copies of the Toyway Ophtalmosaurus ever produced?  ;D

...

First acquisition of 2024! Grabbed the 2016 Safari Shunosaurus, since it's now discontinued. A pity to see it gone, considering Shunosaurus is so important and well-known. Truly a very overlooked creature.
