What better-suited rival for the “devil-horned face” than the “gore king” tyrant?

Some animals know the dangers of their environment by instinct. Other animals have to learn by experience – provided they can survive it. For young nestling Diabloceratopses exploring life in Late Cretaceous Utah, knowing danger could mean recognizing the difference between the casual bustle of the foraging adults, and the sound of the herd suddenly tensing in fear.

We’ve already posted about the upcoming 1/18 scale Stegosaurus, Andrewsarchus, and Smilodon for Creative Beast Studio’s Beasts of the Mesozoic and Beasts of the Cenozoic lines. Now let’s check out even more exciting new poseable figures that will be coming out this summer.

Review: Diabloceratops (Beasts of the Mesozoic by Creative Beast Studios)

Diabloceratops is a dinosaur in a curious position. Despite relatively little fame or pop culture presence, the “devil-horned face” has been a popular choice of genus for toy companies; Safari ltd., Collecta, Schleich, Mattel, and recently Haolonggood, among still others, have all taken a crack at the animal, with surprisingly good results in general.

Feast your eyes on the magnificent painted prototype of the upcoming 1:18 scale Beasts of the Mesozoic Stegosaurus stenops!

Here is the painted prototype of the 1/18 scale Smilodon for Creative Beast Studio’s Beasts of the Cenozoic line.

The colour scheme is clearly inspired by the African lion.

While considerably smaller than the 1/12 scale version intended for the Cyberzoic line, it is just as detailed and still comes with an alternative head.

I, EmperorDinobot, have a less than healthy obsession with the Beasts of the Mesozoic. These are the dinosaurs I wanted to own as a kid. Dinosaurs that were articulated beyond what Kenner and later Hasbro’s dinosaurs could do. And here I am, roughly two decades later, sitting in bed with my own personal computer doing what I always did as a kid: browsing the catalogs which sometimes came in the boxes, or just the back of the card for some figures, always plotting what I should get next.

Extending the deadline to October 10 proved to be a smart move, as the campaign has now surpassed its $185,000 USD minimum goal. The 1/18 scale woolly mammoth adult and calf and the 1/35 scale adult toys will become reality. This is excellent news indeed!

Good news for those hoping to own an articulated 1/18 scale woolly mammoth figure: the campaign is presently at $176,643 USD, meaning just $8,357 is required for it to succeed!

The bad news is that the extended deadline is fast approaching. Collectors only have until October 10 to help make these magnificent mammoths a reality!

There are just 9 days left until the Prehistoric Elephants Backerkit campaign ends. At the time of this posting, it is at $119,127 USD, which is unfortunately short of the $185,000 goal. So if you want these figures and you can afford to back them, now is the time to do it.

At this point in my life, my reviews are all going to be somewhat personal. As collectors, we tend to form serious attachments to our toys or figures, as they often serve as memory capsules. They remind us of things such as a fun event that led to their discovery, a trip where a collector bought a figure at a gift shop, a gift given to a collector for their birthday, or by a special someone that may or may not be with them anymore, etc.
