I first came across this odd T. rex toy early on in my collecting days, in a lot advertised on eBay. I didn’t get that lot but noticed that it kept popping up in lots over and over. It intrigued me but not enough to seek it out.

When it comes to tubes of miniatures, or “toobs,” Safari Ltd. remains the undisputed ruler. That said, they haven’t released any new toobs in years, and many of their prehistoric-themed ones are really showing their age. Today we’ll be examining one such example, Carnivorous Dinos, consisting of twelve miniatures representing a veritable Who’s Who of Mesozoic (and one Paleozoic) Meanies.

Surely enough as the seasons change, and time goes by, toys will be forgotten. Such is the case with this one, a 3 year old toy that I got second-hand in a lot of dinosaurs primarily purchased not as a collector, but as a father.

Eofauna once again brings their A-game for this release, with astonishingly rich and lifelike details to a stellar prehistoric elephant model.
I must admit, as a kid, I usually overlooked mammals in favor of dinosaurs, reptiles, etc., but even though my preferences still lie with the scaly (and sometimes feathery) folk, I’d be remiss to ignore the impressive fossil record of the mammals, who have their own fair share of oddities, wonders, and sheer giants.

In early 2018 Schleich introduced several new models for the year, including a new Psittacosaurus. The model appears to be P. Sibiricus, and is surprisingly well done. Measuring in at just under 5 inches and over 2 inches tall at its highest point, it is a decent sized model.

Between 2006 and 2008, Mega Bloks produced a line of small toys called “Plasma Dinosaurs” (and Dragons), which could be assembled and re-assembled with each other. Mega Bloks doesn’t appear to have had scientific accuracy in mind for these little monster figure, but as a child’s toy their in-hand playability is decent enough.

Despite the figure’s small size, there are plenty of fine details to appreciate on this release from Kinto/Favorite’s earlier days.
Favorite Co. Ltd is among the better dinosaur toy producers currently in the market, even though many of their figures are either out of production or exclusive to Japan.

The Attack Pack Dimorphodon represents one of the smaller scale animals produced for the Jurassic World line, with a low price point of about $7.99. From foot to shoulder it only stands about 1 1/4 inches. The wingspan measures 8.5” and it’s about 5” long from nose to tail.
