Edmontonia is a popular genus of nodosaurid that has been produced by toy companies many times over the years. CollectA, Schleich, and Battat have all taken a crack at the beast with fairly good results. Edmontonia is a very well-known genus with articulated specimens first discovered in 1915!

With its head tilted back and puny arms stretched out the Kaiyodo Dinotales series 5 Tyrannosaurus presents the genus in a unique posture not often depicted in the mass market. This animal clearly has something to say; perhaps he’s attempting to impress a mate or reaffirming his dominance.

In 2003, a new species of African pterosaur was unveiled by paleontologist Paul Sereno. Discovered in the southern Sahara, the animal’s 16-foot wingspan and sharp teeth enabled it to soar down from the skies and snatch up fish some 110 million years ago.

It’s been a while since I promised you another review of a papercraft model, but here it is, Johan Scherft’s interpretation of Microceratops. Now, if you wonder why this name isn’t italicised here or why Google redirects you to a species of parasitic wasp rather than to a ceratopsian dinosaur the explanation is, that Microceratops is in fact an insect species and because of this, the few small parts of a ceratopsian dinosaur fossil found in Mongolia and decribed 1953 by Bohlin were renamed Microceratus by Mateus in 2008.

Eotyrannus, the “dawn tyrant,” was discovered in the fossil-rich Wessex Formation on the Isle of Wight, UK. It is one of the earliest known tyrannosaurs, and while it was a far cry from the likes of Tyrannosaurus rex, Tarbosaurus, and Zhuchengtyrannus, it must have been a formidable predator in its own right.

Pterosaurs are known for their often outlandish headgear with one of the most extreme examples coming from the late Cretaceous genus Nytosaurus. The crest on this genus was truly gigantic, being as long as the body of the animal itself with a tall spike protruding from the back of the head and another horizontal crest jutting off the back.

Pteranodon is not only the most famous pterosaur, but also the best known. More than 1,000 fossil specimens have been uncovered, including both male and female individuals. Males were larger and possessed the familiar blade-shaped crests while females were smaller, had short, rounded crests, and wider hips for laying eggs.
