In my last review, for the PNSO Centrosaurus, I stated that “paintjobs seldom make or break a figure for me, and if the paint is well applied, I’m usually still happy with the product.” Generally speaking, that statement is true, but there are exceptions.

The objective of many lines of dinosaur figures (aside from making money) is to educate children and adults alike about extinct animals. In the last ten years, many lines have been integrated with modern technology to give children more information on dinosaurs besides a 3D view of these animals.

Once again I find myself in the origins of mass-produced dinosaur toys as I review another Starlux figure. Today I look at the pterodactyloid Rhamphorhynchus. Hailing from the Jurassic limestone of Solnhofen, Germany, it is among the oldest species to have been identified as an ancient reptile (though it was thought to have been a bird until teeth were found).

Dinosaur toys are one of the most popular items with any toy company and as most people know, where there are dinosaurs being represented, there are always pterosaurs right along with them. Rhamphorhynchus is one pterosaur that I specifically remember growing up with as a kid along with Pteranodon, Dimorphodon and Quetzalcoatlus.
