Hello once again! I am so excited to share this dinosaur figure with you! I have been waiting for well-articulated Jurassic Park series figures for a long time and we finally have them! We did get some with the Amber collection, but they had some issues that really turned me off.

Famous among dinosaur figure collectors for their excellent Dinotales figures, Kaiyodo also produced a lesser known set of dinosaur figures in 2001, following the release of Jurassic Park III. The set, sponsored by Coca Cola, consisted of 12 dinosaur figures and a secret figure (a Spinosaurus skull).

In the week leading up to the May 1997 opening of The Lost World: Jurassic Park, one of my local radio stations held a daily contest where listeners could phone in and win movie tickets by correctly spelling a dinosaur’s name. After a couple of failed attempts, I managed to get on the air and win (easily).

With an awful lot of Jurassic World toys being released from Mattel for 2019, I thought it would be wise to cover one of the 2018 toys that have been neglected from review so far. The subject of today’s review is this cartoonish little theropod that Mattel has dubbed a Proceratosaurus.

It all began with a friendship, an illness, and the return to my favorite franchise. It is actually a sad story, but I feel like I must tell it because today is the 22nd anniversary of Jurassic Park III’s release in the United States, which is where I am writing this review from.

Shrieking out of the sky and swooping in from 1993 comes the “Jurassic Park” series 1 Pteranodon. Although Cearadactylus was featured in the book “Jurassic Park” the original movie didn’t feature pterosaurs at all.

The Amber Collection Pteranodon is actually quite a mixed bag, with great coloration and good sculpting, but noticeable flaws in articulation.

Say what you will about the film as a whole, but Jurassic Park III had arguably some of the best creature designs in the Jurassic franchise (scientific [in]accuracies notwithstanding).

While it was by no means the largest pterosaur, Pteranodon, with its distinctive blade-shaped crest, remains the most recognizable. It was heavily featured in Jurassic Park 3 and also made a dramatic (and more accurate) cameo at the end of The Lost World: Jurassic Park.

It has been 17 years since Jurassic Park III first came out, and with it, the controversial Spinosaurus. It was quite a surprise when it was first revealed that Mattel was going to be releasing one as part of the Legacy Collection.

For over a century, the paleontologists and museums were the guardians of knowledge concerning beasts from the paleo world. Before the dark times…before Jurassic Park. Ok, so maybe not the dark times, but the fact remains that many in the general public owe their knowledge of dinosaurs due to what they learned in Jurassic Park.

Nearly all of the Jurassic Park 2009 toys were repaints of older toys save for the Allosaurus and the Pachyrhinosaurus. These included the miniature two-packs such as this one, containing hatchling versions of the famous Spinosaurus and Velociraptor.

The Spinosaurus measures 12.5 cm long.

So before we get to the review I would first like to offer an apology, the specimen I have of this toy has really been through the ringer, it’s in dreadful shape. It’s covered in paint rub-offs and is cracking along most of the limbs and tail.

One day while driving to work, I passed a billboard that had Blue on it and saw that it was an advertisement for Jurassic World live Tour. I didn’t know what it was but as my kids are big Jurassic Park/World fans, I decided it might be worth going to.

Kenner’s first attempt at a Stegosaurus for the Jurassic Park line – released back in 1993 – turned out a little, well, ugly. The Lost World saw Stegosaurus‘ debut in the film franchise, and fortunately Kenner had a much, much better sculpt lined up, one that resembled closely the creatures as they appeared on screen.
