This time, the toy included is a downsized version of the Velociraptor from Schleich’s Conquering the Earth line.

Ah, Velociraptor. Thanks to its starring role in the Jurassic Park franchise, it is arguably the second most popular dinosaur after Tyrannosaurus rex. But the funny thing is, it might never have become so famous had it not been for a taxonomic error in a certain book: Predatory Dinosaurs of the World.

It’s Blue the Velociraptor, as you’ve never seen her before! Mattel has taken the sleek, aerodynamic, and menacing Jurassic World Velociraptor design and flipped it on its head. What we have here is a version of Blue that has embraced domestication and spends her days lounging around Owen’s cabin, chowing down on dino-kibble.

When I reviewed the original Hammond Collection Velociraptor, I was pretty forgiving of it, but truth be told, it has not aged well in my eyes. While I don’t regret purchasing it, I ultimately disliked it enough not to bother with the subsequent Hammond Collection JP3 raptors that featured all the faults of their predecessor.

Before I begin this review, I’ll just say that I’m relatively new to the dinosaur model scene, so there may be things I am not looking for or may have missed. That said, this is an initial review of the product I received.

Once again, I, Emperor Dinobot, will share some of my collection with the DTB. Here we shall have a look at the ReSaurus Carnage Velociraptor. I am really excited to review this figure because I took these pictures last year and I am now finally getting to review one of my most sought-after figures of all time.

Velociraptor‘s name rose to fame in the early 90s’ with the release of Jurassic Park, despite the creature in the movie being actually based on the related Deinonychus.

There’s no doubt that Velociraptor is very common dinosaur on the market, but Schleich has created at least seven versions of the infamous dromaeosaur over the years. Today’s review is of their latest take on the speedy predator, and sadly, it is a downgrade from the 2017 Utahraptor.

Creative Beast offers a wide selection of interesting model resin kits in addition to a poseable Velociraptor and Oviraptor available in various plastics at 1/12th scale. I ordered the basic raptor, because I was enchanted with idea of being able to use it as a drawing maquette, but I also requested the Oviraptor tail and wing because they fit my personal aesthetic for how raptors should look.

Back in the pre-JP era, TV documentaries about dinosaurs were a rare sight on German TV. As a dinophile, it was a viewing obligation when the public TV station aired a four part series about dinosaurs in 1991. The documentary’s title was–you probably guessed it–Dinosaur!

“Heads up, fellow dinosaur lovers! Dr. Bella Bricking and Beth Buildit here! Be brave and be alert! Today we’re going to examine a very dangerous Lego dinosaur: Velociraptor! That’s why I’m wearing this protective gear!”
“Doc, that’s a fencing mask.”
“Yes, I know that, Beth.

Beginning with Jurassic Park in 1993, Velociraptor has been a household name, a dinosaur that everybody knows—or thinks they know. Our understanding of this diminutive dromaeosaurid has changed quite a lot over the past three decades, thus rendering the scaly, lizard-like depictions completely obsolete.
