Last time I did a review of a Geoworld product, I said that the company likes to put feathers only on species that are known to have feathers in the fossils. Well, unfortunately I should’ve done more research (and a little more glancing at my collection) because that was not the case.

When I was young, there were a lot of dinosaur toys that my parents spoiled me with. These toys ranged from Imperials to Definitely Dinosaurs, to Jurassic Park toys, and eventually the Carnegie Collection. Out of all of these toys, only the Carnegies, the DDs, and another line have remained in my possession to this day.

Over the years, many different dinosaurs have been made into toys and models by different companies, but it’s only recently that a creature that’s appeared in the media multiple times is finally getting the attention it deserves.Compsognathus has had a bit of resurgence on the dino toy market, with Schleich releasing two as a part of a playset and Rebor doing what they do best by pandering to those who love the scaly little whippersnappers that took down a little girl in the Lost World: Jurassic Park.

Ever wondered if knockoffs such as this Papo Spinosaurus and CollectA Hylaeosaurus have a company name behind them? Well, to save you the time, that company turns out to be Zhong Jieming. After reading that, you might be wondering why I brought up Chinese knockoff figures on our beloved blog, but in all seriousness, I found the source of those knockoffs completely by accident, and I have no intentions on purchasing any of them.

If there is one group of dinosaurs that toy companies seem to dislike more than ornithopods (due to the fact that they are thought to be poor sellers) then it would be the prosauropods, or sauropodomorphs as they’re now called.

Everyone knows about the now-defunct Carnegie Collection, which was a collaboration between Safari Ltd and the Carnegie Museum of Natural History. As far as I know, this was one of the longest running museum lines, with a lifespan of over 27 years, before being cancelled due to disagreement between the two entities.

Out of all the prehistoric creatures that could have been made by modern toy companies, I assume a Metridiochoerus is not something you might expect. Metridiochoerus was basically a type of warthog that lived in Africa during the late Pleistocene, and it competed for the same niche as its modern cousin Phacochoerus, the common warthog.

Today I have a figure that probably should not be here given that I openly said that I did not think the Indominus Rex was worthy of a review on the blog. But since the subject is part of a series that consists of nothing but monstrous hybrid dinosaurs that I feared would appear in Jurassic World in some way or another, I decided to give it a go.

A long time ago in the year 2005, I was hospitalized for 103 days due to a serious heart condition that nearly claimed my life at the young age of twelve. As a result of this issue, I was eligible for a wish to be granted by the Make A Wish Foundation of America, and it is thanks to them that the subject of today’s review is a part of my collection.
