With Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom just around the corner, I’m sure a lot of us are feeling the JP hype and nostalgia again pretty strongly. Today I’d like to take a look back at one of the finest toys from the Lost World line of toys: the electronic Velociraptor!

“Salutations, fellow dinosaur lovers! Yes, it is I, Dr. Bella Bricking, along with my trusty wingwoman, Beth Buildit! My goodness, it’s been a long time since we last appeared on the Dinosaur Toy Blog!”
“Sure has, Doc. But with Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom out this summer, Lego has really stepped up their game this year.

Spinosaurus is, without doubt, one of the most blood-curdling, spine-chilling, formidable creatures humanity has ever come across. A seven tonne crocodile-like monster measuring in at 18 meters from nose to tail.

Continuing on with Chronicle Collectibles’ offering of high-end JP items, today I have the highly anticipated Breakout Rex, which obviously is a reenactment of Rexy breaking out of her paddock in the first Jurassic Park.

It had to happen sooner or later and by that, I mean high-end Jurassic Park/World collectibles for us serious JP fans. After the extremely lacklustre offerings by Hasbro in the past year, someone had to lift up our spirits.

Review: Spinosaurus and Velociraptor (Jurassic Park 2009 by Hasbro)

Nearly all of the Jurassic Park 2009 toys were repaints of older toys save for the Allosaurus and the Pachyrhinosaurus. These included the miniature two-packs such as this one, containing hatchling versions of the famous Spinosaurus and Velociraptor.

It’s a shame that despite four movies spanning the last 25 years we’ve never gotten a good sauropod toy in conjunction with the “Jurassic Park” franchise. No doubt this is because it would have to be an enormous toy, especially if it were in scale with the various Kenner Tyrannosaurus toys released over the years.

We’re finally past the halfway point in our effort to review all the little “Jurassic Park” dinosaurs put out by Dakin back in 1992, with today’s review concerning one of their better efforts; the Gallimimus. The Dakin line of “Jurassic Park” dinosaurs consist of 6 dinosaurs in total, representing the dinosaurs of the original film.

The dinosaur toy community received a big surprise in the summer of 2016 with the news that Universal had taken away the Jurassic Park license from Hasbro and given it to Mattel. Whether or not this is a boon or a bust remains to be seen, although I have difficulty envisioning anything worse than the embarrassing Jurassic World line.

Review: Tyrannosaurus vs. Indominus (Jurassic World Limited Edition Gift Set)

Regardless about how you ultimately felt about the movie one of the most exciting prospects behind the release of Jurassic World was the toys and other merchandise that would inevitably be released alongside the film. The old Kenner Jurassic Park toys are some of the best movie action figures ever produced and although Hasbro dropped the ball on Jurassic Park 3 there were still those that hoped they might do better for Jurassic World.
