I took my seat and looked at the brochure,
and read about each animal one by one.
The Tyrannosaur was massive and not demure.

Before the animal was officially known as “T.rex”, it was known as Manospondylus gigas and Dynamosaurus imperiosus, but when the animal’s true name was revealed along with better finds, this coelurosaurian became one of the most popular dinosaurs ever and most likely the most well known all!

The Dinomania series by Kaiyodo contains small but very detailed and accurate snap-together figures. The Dinomania series is a rerelease – all the figure in this line were originally released as the UHA Chocolasaur DinoTales Series 3. These Kaiyodo figures in their Dinomania guise came packaged in a box so that the species you got was a surprise.

Everyone knows about the now-defunct Carnegie Collection, which was a collaboration between Safari Ltd and the Carnegie Museum of Natural History. As far as I know, this was one of the longest running museum lines, with a lifespan of over 27 years, before being cancelled due to disagreement between the two entities.

There isn’t a single more recognizable in this day and age as Tyrannosaurus rex. When Jurassic Park came out in 1993, the JP-style Rex image was permanently ingrained into the general public’s brains from that point on.

More than any recent figure, Rebor’s sizeable King Rex seems to embody both the best and worst of the current dinosaur collectible scene. On the one hand, it’s hugely encouraging to see a company produce offerings that bridge the vast gap between the toy and ‘monstro Sideshow wallet-buster’ ends of the market, and produce a line of undeniably high-quality figures to boot.

Today I’ll be taking a look at an unusual addition to the Dinosaur Toy Blog: Skeleflex. Released by a company called Wild Planet back in 2007, the line was described in its press release as “a creative ball-and-socket building system that puts kids in control. Its interchangeable bone-shaped pieces can be combined to make aliens, dinosaurs, and other fantastical creatures that move in a lifelike manner.” Sounds interesting, no?
