Mattel has revealed their Jurassic Park exclusive for San Diego Comic Con (which begins on July 20) and it’s none other than acclaimed Hollywood director Steven Spielberg himself along with a Hammond Collection Dilophosaurus.
The set also includes a movie camera mounted on a tripod, a director’s chair, and an animatronic stand.
Mattel Creations has revealed “The Gates,” a very large, very elaborate Hammond Collection set combining elements of both Jurassic Park and The Lost World. We have the bull/buck Tyrannosaurus rex, retooled and repainted from the HC T. rex, we have Lex and Tim Murphy, we have an ill-fated goat, six dinosaur sign posts, a Ford Explorer XLT with a detailed interior, sections of electric fencing, and the iconic gates with electronic lights and sound.
June’s been quite the month for reveals thus far and this latest one is literally the biggest yet: Mattel’s Hammond Collection Brachiosaurus. It looks to be the most poseable sauropod toy ever made, complete with a bendable neck and the (inaccurate) ability to rear up on its hind legs.
PNSO’s third reveal for 2023 is a third giant carcharodontosaur: Mila the Mapusaurus. While it is hoped that the next reveal will be a prehistoric animal from a different branch of the vast evolutionary hedge, there can be no doubt that Mila looks smashing.
LEGO is marking the 30th anniversary of Jurassic Park with five new sets based on scenes from the film, including the first ever Brachiosaurus figure. These are all slated for release on June 1.

PNSO’s second reveal for the year is Mungo the Meraxes! This giant carcharodontosaur was only described in 2022, so props to PNSO for being on top of the latest paleontology news. The grey colour scheme is pretty cool too, a welcome change from previous PNSO theropods.
Jurassic Park/World fans should be very excited by all the new Hammond Collection toys that have been revealed this week, both of the dinosaur and human persuasion.

Earlier this week, we saw the reveal of the very retro-looking Electronic Real Feel Tyrannosaurus rex. Now check out its packaging, which is similarly a homage to the original 1993 Jurassic Park packaging by Kenner.
Also newly revealed are three additional Classic ’93 products.
Among the many new toys Mattel is releasing for this year is the Electronic Real Feel Skin Tyrannosaurus rex. The colour scheme is clearly a homage to the original Electronic T. rex from Kenner’s 1993 Jurassic Park line, while the swallowing gimmick with a retrieval slit in the belly is reused from the Bull T.
